I dont with your take on Max
Because yes they're content available everywhere else.
It's still smart strategy because they're double dipping
You can still get their movie on other platforms and max
Either way. Those distributions things will come back to them

Haven’t watched this particular video yet but think the fact you do this is outstanding. All well and good reviewing movies (which is great and I really, really enjoy), but with the price of everything these days a lot of people will struggle to have access to all streaming services and someone giving an honest, realistic view of what should be prioritised and what suits fans of certain things is really great. Thanks for doing this.

Apple TV+ is definitely underrated, especially when it comes to Series. Their strategy is to put out quality rather than quantity. Severance, For All Mankind, Silo, Foundation, Shrinking, The Morning Show, Ted Lasso, Monarch:Legacy of Monsters, Black Bird, Hijack, See. Very High quality shows and you aren’t left wondering what to watch and not knowing whether it will be good or worth your time.

It has some of the HBO Max and Peacock originals, as well as a lot of the DC Comics back catalogue and major DC films. Finally someone else who loves international content. Netflix' approach of having content from overseas to be shown to the whole world is genius not like others that will produce for certain country or region and just leave it there is again genius. I can honestly say that at least 20-30% of my viewing is live action international content and if it was not for Netflix others would not even give it the time and day.

I may be in the minority but I find people's analysis ridiculous. Archives are mostly garbage made to fill in and give the impression of abundance. The abundance of garbage is called a dumping ground. People mention old shows as the reason why Max is the best. I love some of those old shows but I don't think you are watching Game of Thrones over and over again. And "Brand"... Brand doesn't matter if it's only for marketing and the actual production is bad. It's like something that looks beautiful on the outside but inside it's pure rotten. That doesn't get a low score to me, that deserves a negative rate. It's disingenuous with the audience, it's dirty, it's almost criminals. The only services I trust or respect are Paramount and AppleTV+.

The number of things I actually wanted to watch just went down and down (and some like Amazon didn’t have much on there to begin with, as this video notes). So I’ve started buying DVDs again. You can get a second hand copy of lots of films for under £1 in the UK so I’ve started doing that, plus splashing out on the blu-ray for stuff I like more. You get to keep the movie or show forever and you can watch youtube or the free sites for everything else.

I agree with Max, I didn’t think Max was too bad at first but as time has gone by, I think the fact that stuff like DC has been send off to other streaming services is that Discovery’s CEO David Zaslav says that DC “lacks a coherent and creative brand” which is the opposite of what I see on Disney+ Paramount+ or Prime Video. Say what you will about Paramount+ but they offer stuff like Transformers, Sonic and Ninja Turtles which are creative brands that they have on the service. Zaslav also mentions that animation is only suitable for kids and not adults which is why they’ve been removing a ton of Cartoon Network shows and cancel a bunch of different projects that are DC and animated. The only thing they really prioritize for animation is Velma which is just one of the nastiest things anyone has ever done.

When I ask my cable company what do I have to pay to get 4k back, the answer is nothing, 4k should be included. I still have no 4k and have barely watched Max since. I watch 1080p shows on HBO cable.

I only see average things, nothing special. Let's not mention the garbage that is 99% of Netflix, Amazon and others. "Archive" and "brand"... I don't think any of that matters. I also switch streaming services. IMO if they all got together or some company has a service where you can stream anything everyone would pay way more money per month and not cancel. It won’t happen anytime soon anyways but think about it like this every household paying $100 or more every month or $15 a month switching services a handful of times per year. When a new movie comes out they can charge a few bucks to watch it or wait x months to watch it.

Most things you call archive are there to fill in and nobody watches it... Brand? What brand? Marvel and it's ridiculously bad and childish movies? When I open Apple I know everything is absolute top quality. When I open Netflix, Amazon, Peacock, Hulu, Disney I know the vast majority of content is garbage. I agree with this list except for Apple TV. Let's just say I hate all things Apple... And they're walled garden. But the streaming services is a completely different story. The originals are fantastic but the biggest thing for me is you can always count on A+ audio and video. I also appreciate how they give quirky shows a chance like the amazing Schmigadoon they kept for 2 years.
I also agree where you placed Tubi. That service constantly surprises me by some of the movies they have--a great selection of very hard to find indie movies first & foremost (and probably the best search criteria I've ever seen on a streaming service). For example, The Nightingale by the director of Babadook is a perfect example and not found anywhere else... harrowing but captivating movie to say the least. There's also a little trick you can do if you have an Android or Google TV to make Tubi let's just say a little more "watchable" :)

The one thing that makes me put Prime and Disney over Max and Netflixis that you dont have to pay extra per month to watch content in 4k UHD.
I hate that on HBO Max with its gigantic archive of DC Films has a paywall making you pay like $20 a Month just to watch it in 4k UHD, same for Netflix.
with 50% of all TV Sales last year being 4k TVs and higher you would think that streaming services would at least let you watch it in the best quality possible
