thx so much for this. i'm debatin between the px3 pro and the theater premium. For some reason, i'm really attracted to the theater premium but something tells me i should go for the PX3 pro. Main concern i have is brightness. is there really a big diff between the 2? stats sheet show 1 is at 3k lumens and the other at 2.2k ansi. when we bring them both to lumens, difference is like 250 lumens. is that really a massive diff?

They're both great projectors. The PX3 Pro is technically capable of higher peak lumens, but the Formovie Theater Premium did look punchier with more "pop" to the colors. The Formovie is a little exaggerated on SDR content, but I expect that this is something Formovie will fix in a firmware update.

I haven't finished watching the vid but this wasn't a blind test was it?

No. Each projector had a sign in front of it with make and model.

AWOL is one of the most popular ust projectors on the market too. What happened those guys being in this?

According to the event host, an AWOL UST projector was included in the 2022 Showdown event and it did not place well in the results (5th out of 6th overall). After that, the company apparently threatened to sue the event organizers and hosts and implicated the judges in some sort of assertion of conspiracy or foul play to manipulate the results.
The company threatened action in 2023 as well if they were included in the UST Showdown again.
Despite that, the event host told us that they contacted AWOL this year about being included in the competition, but there was no agreement made to “accept the results” so AWOL's UST projectors were excluded from the event again in 2024.
Note: this information was shared with us directly by Brian Gluck, owner of ProjectorScreen.com, who hosted the event.
