I've watched a video recently from another popular DJ, and he recommended the epson EB2250u, with a media player velcroed as you have done. However this video was uploaded back in 2019 but the specs do favour well still with your lumen and contrast stats. Would you recommend this model or can you recommend a better model for 2024? In the UK these retail at £999 which is $1300. Also are there now projectors that have an inbuilt media players so i wouldn't need to buy a separate player? Many thanks much appreciated
I use a few different ones because other than static and animated monograms, I also do a lot of video projection mapping on walls, ceilings, cakes and even bride dresses. But the ones in my inventory are the Epson Pro EX11000, the Optoma HD30LV and the BenQ Su917.
That's a good projector! It has the power output you want for good crisp monograms, and you can use a flash drive to project stuff. The only 2 disadvantages to it are that it only has a 3,000:1 contrast ratio so you very likely might see a grey box around your monogram. Anything with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio or higher means you wont see the shadow or grey box. The other thing is that it only has a vertical keystone so if you have the projector off to the side, the monogram might still look a little crooked and not perfectly straight.
Hi there! You use either 1 or 2 high end projectors with projection mapping software. Here's an example of what it looks like from one of my events (dont mind the lop sided cake....it was melting before I got there....lol) th-cam.com/users/shortsRsXP7PqnEPA The general idea is that you warp and map a video to fit the exact shape, size and dimension of the object you're projecting on so there is no overflow of the video. I map cakes, ceilings, walls, and have even done wedding dresses while the bride was wearing it. It's a very cool effect but there is a very steep learning curve to do it. And creating the projections can take a lot of time depending on how intricate you want them to be. So you have to use software like Adobe Premier or After Effects to create the projection and then mapping software like Mad Mapper, Heavy M, Resolume, Arkaos, etc to do the mapping. You also need a high end laptop with dedicated video cards to handle the software. If you have any other questions about it, feel free to reach out.
I personally use Photoshop for static and After Effects & Premier for animated. I know a lot of people have used Canva for their static ones with good results if they are not experienced with Adobe products.
Hi , I was actually considering the dance floor acknowledging in loving memory of my parents,my mentor's name. But here's the thing, I want it engraved on the dance floor might be expensive, but it's my vision for now. What would that be called? Really would love your feedback 😊
You can get large format vinyl dance floor wraps that go on top of the dance floor. They make them to look like engraving. I would do that since it's a temporary solution and not permanent. Just contact any sign shop and they should be able to supply quotes for you.
Tell me more about video creation? I'd love to do more motion monograms but I've only just learned the essentials of canva for my static monograms! What program bout also are their tutorials?
I use Adobe Premier and After Effects for motion monograms. There is a bit of a learning curve to use Adobe products, but everything looks professional, smooth and high end when you've mastered them. There's a ton of TH-cam videos on getting started with them to create animated graphics and logos, which is what you want to search for. I know some people have also created motion monograms using PowerPoint but the ones I've seen with that program don't look very good so be careful if you go that route.
Any of them would be a solid choice. If it were me, I would definitely go with the EX11000. But for the cost, the EX9240 will do everything you want and still make monograms look great.

But when comparing them to the 9240, there are big differences. - 4000 vs 45/4600 lumens - Big difference in contrast ratio - 16,000:1 vs 100,00:1 - The 9240 uses a lamp which will die over time and get dimmer the more you use it, where as the others are laser projectors - Projection is size is smaller 30" - 300" vs 31" - 310" - The 9240 doesnt have an ethernet port so you cant connect it to a network to project files, videos, images, etc if you need to
Great Video! Appreciate your channel. Question, I got a Optoma GT780 Short throw. I did a few monograms but i feel like its not very good in bright light. Its also short throw...is long throw better? Appreciate your help.
Hey Timothy....short throws will look dull and dim if you project from distances anything further than 4 to 5 feet away. I believe your projector is around 4,000 lumens and it should be bright enough if you project a close distance to the wall. Did you buy it new or used? If used, the bulb could be going on you, which would explain why it's not very bright. They tend to get less bright over time the more you use them. As for what type of projector is better, if you plan on always keeping the projector right next to you and projecting like say on the wall behind your DJ booth, then the short throw will be fine. However, when you are in those situations where you have to project across a venue or further than 4-5 feet, then a short throw will never give you the same results. All of my projectors are long throws just because I don't want to limit myself to how far or where I project monograms. It's also why I create monogram files in multiple sizes so if I do have to make a monogram fit somewhere, regardless of where I'm projecting....it will always allow me to do it because of the different sized files. I use BenQ and Optoma projectors that are between 4,000 - 5,000 ANSI lumens with contrast ratios upwards of 30,000:1. Do you know what the contrast ratio is on the projector that you use? If it's anything below 10,000:1 then you'll see that gray box or halo behind the image. Some of the cheaper projectors on the market generally will cause that box or halo so you have to be careful sometimes when shopping around. The name brand ones will always be your best, like BenQ, Optoma, JVC, Sony, Epson, Samsung, etc. If you REALLY want to drop some major money, then look into the new laser projectors that are out on the market. Those things are beasts and pretty insane with what they can project. Good luck!

We run epson or benq 3500 - 5000 lumens is your best bet. If u can get a project with keystone and corner correction

Whats Your Thoughts On The Epson Pro 9240 vs Epson EX11000 vs EX10000....Whats The Better Bang For The Buck?

Mine is 1500:1 contrast, and I'm still getting the border.
1500:1 is really really low. You want something at a bare minimum of 10,000:1.

What projector would you recommend? I've had trouble getting rid of the halo or faint light behind the image when using my current projector.
