    Replacement of these will also help with the oil burning issue on the 3.5

    I been using a method for all my seals before installing is to treat them with 303 protectant I warm the parts and treat the seal with the protectant and anti seize paste for the pcv for me its been alot easier to remove these types of parts during regular maintenance. Hope this helps someone else like it did me.

    A bad PCV can cause rear main seal leaks also.

    I changed PVC valve on my 2007 Honda Odyssey with 208k miles
    So far it is a reduced oil consumption by maybe 60%
    Going to measure how much it uses for 3k miles after its next oil change
    I was having to add 2+ qrts every 3k miles.
    I used aftermarket parts from eBay
    $7 USD
    Good vid there. pVC replacement should be listed every 100k but it’s not.
    On my maxima it reduced it by about 50% also but the maxima has oil leaks ( rear and front crank seals)

    Does this design rattle when when you shake it like most PCVs do when they are still working properly?

    • @wanelly
      @wanelly ปีที่แล้ว

      It does when it's working fine.

      I don’t think these ones rattle like the olden days.

    Will this solve oil burning issues? My Pilot burns about a 1q/1,000 miles

    The old one looks like having only one O-ring at one end. The new one clearly has two O-rings. I bought an after-market one. It has on O-ring. It has no rattling sound. The old one has sound. Can anyone tell me why no sound? Thanks.

      I'm not sure but I've heard it's best to use the honda part. They aren't too expensive from Honda.

    Is it bad to disconnect the air intake from the valve cover vents?

  • @screwdriver7507

    Shouldn’t it be called a PC Valve and not a PCV Valve? 🤔

    • @gregs_garage
      @gregs_garage  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      positive crankcase ventilation valve. PCV valve.

      It may be fine. Probably glued in permanently though. How often have you changed the trans oil?

      @@gregs_garage I took it off and it had gummy grime on and in it. Had to buy a new one, thnx for the video.
      Trans oil is changed yearly.

    Great video, but how do we conclude if it is a bad PCV? Oil leaks or just preventive maintenance?

    • @gregs_garage
      @gregs_garage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Preventative maintenance. Also they can become difficult to remove if you don't change it every few years.

      There a few symptoms. Oil leaks are one, If the valve is stuck closed. If it's stuck closed, there will be no vacuum on the side that doesn't go to the intake. A stuck open valve would cause a vacuum leak and could make the mixture rich or lean depending on how much fuel has washed into the oil (near or past due oil change or a no start condition that caused cylinder wash). If the oil has some fuel in it, there would be a rich condition present (negative fuel trim #s) and fresh oil should show a lean condition (positive fuel trim #s). A stuck open valve could make it difficult to remove the oil cap while running due to it causing a large vacuum leak in the crank case. It helps me to remember that the valve is just a controlled small vacuum leak. It clears out the crank case vapors as needed based on engine vacuum by sucking it out.

      thanks. Are these comments general PCV related, or more specific to the Honda 3.5 PCV system?
