    Thanks for this great detailed video!!
    I could not get the lag bolt to grip firmly so ended up using a 7/16 -14 Tap it fit perfectly and gripped the PCV to get out my broken PCV valve using your slide hammer vice grip technique!!! ..and SVCM works great have had one on for 3 years, oil consumption decreased ,Thanks again your video Saved the day !!

    Thanks for this video - I wish it was at the top of the search results! I pried on the bolt collar and it snapped right off. But I used your lag bolt trick (5/16" is the size) and was able to work the old valve loose and get it out. I also dropped the little metal bushing of course so now I'm hunting for that. The wiring harness is a huge pain and I could not move mine out of the way. But I saved myself some dollars doing it myself lol.

      I’m glad to be of service! The wiring harness (especially if you have installed a S-VCM) makes things pretty difficult. ****sigh, engineers*** The metal collar is a pain, too. A dab of something sticky to keep it in place during installation certainly helps!

    Great video Dan. Thank you for info re: preventative maintenance on PCV and procedure.

    I was gonna do it myself until I kept seeing people break the valve and have to fish it out. Imma just take it to the dealership

      Confession time….
      I am going to take my Pilot to Honda to get certain things done to it, despite having the knowledge and ability to repair. The timing belt, water pump and valve adjustment are just about due, but I really don’t have the time and there are folks that do those things for a living. You certainly should keep within your comfort zone when it comes to repairs. Thanks for watching, and hopefully I can help you with something else if the need arises! 😀

    Thank you for doing this video. I am trying to follow your steps but having trouble to dislodge the wire harness bar - how did you pop it out? Any bolts to loosen?

    On my pilot and 2012 tl both had po420 for 2yrs every other month couldn't figure it out .there was nothing wrong meaning no loss of gas mileage or sputter skip nothing ,car was running fine.i ended up looking spark plugs and coils 1 of the coils were bad but wasn't noticeable. I changed the plugs with ngk plugs and changed 1 coil and it's been 1 yr months no check engine light on.belive it or not a bag plug or coil can throw a po420

      Wow…. Thanks! I haven’t tried to replace the coils. How did you test them? I’d like to pursue that. Still haven’t changed the upstream oxygen sensors yet… Plugs are brand new NGKs put in a few months back

    Did it fix your original issue (catalytic converter codes go away)? Thx for video.

    • @danotech5539
      @danotech5539  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, there was some improvement but I still get codes at 40-45 mph. They also disappeared after longer drives, so there is another issue. I have less oil leak issues, too.

      Be watching for two upcoming videos, one on trailing arm replacement and the other deals with upstream oxygen sensor replacement….

    Thanks for the great video! I'm going to be doing this repair also on my 2011 Pilot🤞🤞 I also went ahead and ordered the s-vcm controller. Have you had any problems at all with your controller or are you totally satisfied with it? Also did you notice if your mpg went down?

    • @danotech5539
      @danotech5539  ปีที่แล้ว

      The S-VCM is totally worth it, you will avoid problems like oil consumption and excessive cylinder wear on #3. Have had no issues, fuel mileage is lower but not by much and acceleration is more immediate.

    Is it advisable to spray some cleaner into the block and do a brush out of the orifice.

    Did the code p0420 come back after you replaced the pcv valve ?

    • @danotech5539
      @danotech5539  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. I am going to replace the upstream oxygen sensors. At over 220k miles it’s time anyways. Be watching for that video soon! 🙂

    I have a 2010 Ridgeline and I can't see or find the pcv valve in the same location you're in

    • @danotech5539
      @danotech5539  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      According to my research, the PCV valve on your particular 3.5 Honda J V6 may be located underneath where your oil dipstick is (if you are facing engine, over to the left - passenger side). The only other location is where I indicated in the video. Yours actually may be easier to access than mine. I’d use the same procedure to remove, because they like to stick at the o-ring and break…

    This could be a 2 minute video unless the PCV valve breaks and you have to circumvent removing it.
