    I have gone shopping with Anastasiya in both Rome and New York City, and cannot recommend her enough! In Rome, we did high end boutiques one day and I got the most amazing shoes, and a spectacular vegan leather dress and amazing suit, plus many other lovely things. Another Roman outing we did Vintage, and she helped score some amazing deals. In NYC, she helped me style my 15yo daughter, and my cousin as well. She is a gem, and you would be lucky to spend the day shopping with her!

    I don’t understand when people say they’ll wear whatever they want because they’re paying so much money on their Trip. (Of course some people have important health reasons for wearing certain shoes). That’s irrelevant. It’s about respect and etiquette for a particular country or city. Just as you would look awkward wearing shorts and a tank top to a fancy wedding reception you may look out of place in a foreign city or turned away at some tourist places like churches for not being prepared with proper attire. These videos are so helpful as reminders why or why not to do some things! Thank you!

    When I worked in Tuscany I wore flip flops and to my surprise it upset a couple of my co-worker guys. Girls I can maybe understand but guys? I didn't care because it was a hot summer and we were computer programmers. They asked me to up the standard of the group which I could have understood if there had been anything important to represent.
    Then I upset them even more when in the mornings I would bring a brown paper bag of cherry tomatoes and eat them as my desk. They were as sweet as fruit, from Sicily, the best tomatoes I have ever had to this day.

      Yes, Ashleigh. As I said, in certain parts of the cities you can get away with it, especially when you know your route and plan on walking 5-10 minutes at most. But if you are here as a tourist and exploring all day, you will be walking on cobblestones most of the time. We have to remember that the lifestyle of a local and a tourist is completely different. If an Italian decides to wear heels, she certainly isn't planning being of foot all day discovering the city.

      Thats fantastic! I moved to Italy many years ago just for the love of Italy🇮🇹❤️ This is such an exciting time for you! It all depends on the job you are interviewing for of course. I definitely suggest to come to Italy a couple of days prior, if possible, and have a stylist put some looks together for you. First of all, because for Italians look matter A LOT. Second, because Italian style is obviously different from other places in the world. And third, so you can have a few looks that you can easily mix and match for work in the future. I do this all the time here in Rome for my clients from all over the world. It definitely worth it, especially in a country like Italy where style is everything.

      @@StayFabulousTLLol yes we do. It's funny because there is a story behind it and I'll tell you. Well, back in the 60's, a bunch of surfers on our Bondi beach were walking on the sand and and this particular day was way too hot to walk on the sand so one of the guys found a bit of rubber sticking out of the sand and he fashioned them into thongs lol (flipfloos), I know it sounds like underwear but anyway, so not long after the guy was making them for his friends and that's how the rubber thong were born. It's become a must here I guess because it gets so hot, it just suits our culture and we even flop around in them in winter and rain haha. Just comfy so it makes sense to travel with them! 😘😜😁

    Dress and style are relative, so no problem in having once own dressing style. Specially for tourists, they come to see the city and place and bother less about being style-conscious its a total mood kill during vacations. Why would anyone give a damn about someone having flip flops. Really people are so full of fashion and show off, when its not universal thing and keeps changing.

    • @StayFabulousTL
      @StayFabulousTL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Anil, I agree with you that everyone has their own style and if someone wants to wear flip flops in the city, it is certainly NOT a big deal. However, by being a stylist for many-many years I can assure you that most people want to learn about "fashion etiquette" of the country they are traveling to, especially when it comes to countries like Italy. It has nothing to do with showing off but rather a desire to look and therefore feel your best, especially on a vacation in a foreign country. Most people would gladly avoid some common "fashion mistakes" if they knew about them ahead of time. And thats what this video is about.

      Oh no, don't worry. We, italians, are quite tollerants. There are some practical reasons behind these recomandations. Just few examples. As you probably know our city centers are historical, designed centuries ago for pedestrians and horses. Than you can't use your nice pick up but you have to walk a lot, probably on bricks or stones. Try to do it with flip flop or on heels and suddely you will understand that how is better to use comfortable shoes.
