      scotty, you are getting good at the thumbnail inserts, too funny dude, and awesome! and you might want to add to your video a fact, as i bought a 250 dollar truck cover, top of the line, but if you leave them on for extremely windy days, like i did out in farm land usa, the flapping of even expensive car covers, beats up against the paint job and makes areas look worn, pissed me off i tell ya.......! and what it was is that dust gets up underneath the cover and the dust acts as sandpaper and the dust is what dulls the shine permanently where the cover constantly bumps up against the paint in the wind.....

    Great video Scotty. I’ve also had some bad experiences with light scratches and abrasions due to the wind blowing the cover repeatedly on my paint along with leaves and twigs that blow up from under the car. I think it is a good idea to use a cover that is a larger fit for your car to have a bit more coverage underneath the car as well. This may prevent wind blowing things up and in between the paint and car cover.

    It’s a good idea to clean the car before putting a cover on,
    because any dirt and grit
    will scratch the paint
    when you install the cover,
    when you remove it,
    and as wind blows and moves it around.
    While fitted covers won’t move over the car in the wind,
    the tighter fit causes more friction putting it on and taking it off.
    If the cover goes on and off frequently, it’s much easier and faster to clean the car with wax detailer and a microfiber cloth
    compared to a soap and water wash.
    Also..a tarp, over the car cover is a good idea for cars kept outside and not under a car port.
    Over time, dirt, bird droppings,
    bee droppings
    (the yellow spots)
    build up on the car cover,
    and it will need to be cleaned.
    The tarp adds an inexpensive extra layer of heat and moisture protection;
    and can be sprayed off easily and quickly with water any time.
    I’ve found that white tarps reflect heat the best.
    The tarp can be secured through its grommets with a few bungee cords.
    Eventually, (6 mos.-1 year depending on tarp quality and heat intensity) the sun will win the battle and the tarp will begin disintegrating.
    Then, just buy a new one, usually something like half the cost of a decent cover.
    The car cover then lasts years, remaining in virtually new condition.

    • @karlivanr
      @karlivanr หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! By tarp, you mean a literal tarpaulin? I've been thinking of buying a car cover for ours since it's parked outside and I've had to wash the car every 1-2 weeks because of bird poop.

      @YoungBlaze and thats just it. The cover itself is going to get dirty everyday from the dust and crap blowing around in the air. Then you have to take it off and store it with all the dirt on it. Most people put it inside the car so now the dust and crap is in the car and on the inside of the car cover.

    Scotty, thanks for the channel. On my 1992 JagXJSv12 2+2 Convertible, I used 3 types of covers: one for solar, one for garage-dust, one HD for snow-sleet. Being in Houston, never used the last one. Now have 2002 Taurus, great paint, but my landlord's yard-crew keeps blowing dust on my freshly washed paint. So, could really use the light-weight one for my car-port. Thanks, Again!

    Nice thing about the fitted covers is they take in consideration features of your car other cars don't have. For instance, generic cover won't consider your rear placed antenna and so won't fit nicely unless you take antenna off or risk breaking it.

    I used to store a 67 Mustang in an outside storage yard. I went through so many cheap and medium priced car covers that I eventually just made my own out of inner layer of canvas and outer layer of plastic tarp. Yes, I did have to replace the plastic tarp every year.
    I went through the same thing with my boats, so upon purchasing my fifth boat, I just bit the bullet and got a custom made Sunbrella cover that fil like a glove. It did cost over $600 though.

    If storing your car for an extended period of time I also recommend putting several sheets of BOUNCE inside the car and trunk and even under the hood to protect it from mice damage. Mice can do a HUGE amount of damage to a vehicle, especially if they start chewing on the wires or upholstery. And, God forbid they die in the vehicle. That's the gift that keeps on giving. Fill the car with BOUNCE instead. Mice hate it and it makes your car smell good. Happy Trails!

    "Paid 350 bucks for Celica...not going to buy .... " A new car cost 20-50+ grand. A premium $500 car cover to protect a $500 reliable vehicle is still a bargain.

    Custom covers, while expensive due to them being custom, are at the high end of the "want list". There are some slightly cheaper alternatives that still give the same amount of all-weather depending on the rating and weave. If you live in a 4-season area - depending on the brand of the cover - their highest rating would be from 5-7 layers on different brands. I've seen some for as low as $70-plus up to $200. Always try to get something breathable, you don't want that thing to permanently stick to the car and peel off the paint when you take it off - especially in winter if you've got one of those heavy duty ones. I've heared that there are some car covers that come coated with teflon inside and out - but they are supposedly insanely expensive.

    Coverite Tybond is VERY GOOD from pep boys $59.99. You even have the grommets on the side of the car. This cover is very good if your car stays outside. It does protected against rain, snow and ice. I use this cover all the time. There is even two open flaps one on the hood and one on the roof for the air to be able to flow through the cover and out of the cover and you would think rain would get in or snow or perhaps ice none of that does when you remove this cover your car is dry. People swear my car is garage kept. The only problem I have is every once in awhile the deers and red tails foxes like to nibble on it once in awhile.

    • @sheldonk5747
      @sheldonk5747 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sherloid Bai goodness gracious. I know you guys get it bad down that way. But honestly it's not going to evaporate on you. LOL I was looking at Pep Boys website earlier and they're offering it even more at a discount but I don't know if that's every state. I would say give it a try I have used this cover for at least 3 years now.

      I live in Gilbert, AZ. One thing I notice, is all the Nissan Titans out here, the clear coats are all faded. I think people do not wax their cars like these use too, one reason the paint fades fast. My wiper blades only last a year, cause of the heat

    • @beatersho3497
      @beatersho3497 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      XYtruck25 I live in Phoenix and my 2013 expedition is already showing signs of fading on the roof and in the sunroof. Waxing is very important to save your clear coat. I’ve also gone through lots of wipers; I learned that I needed new ones the hard way last week when we had that monsoon!
