      Lets say that you put your Giroplane on a boat which travels 20 knots fast into the wind (5 knots) - how much take-off distance do you need as solo pilot with your best power/weight Giro?

    • @AdventureAir
      @AdventureAir  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@electricaviationchannelvid7863 that depends on rotorspeed. In solo flight, we've been able to take off in as little as 10 meters.

    Thanks for the great general comparison of these models. After much research I bought a loaded certified Cavalon 915is, and wish to mention that starting prices as stated is for bare bones and not realistic for most buyers. Expect to spend more but it's worth it, and I can't imagine going back to flying fixed wing for local fun. Also a private gyro rating added to a fixed wing private, you'll need about 25 hrs (dual, cross-country, night, solo) per FAA requirements and a DPE check ride. Sport pilot rating is easier, but I didn't want the restrictions of that. Please keep up the videos! Thanks!

      So you can fly the Cavalon at night because it is certified and not experimental ?

    • @GyroBlain
      @GyroBlain ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes because I paid for the night option and I have a private rating. It also has the full glass panel with XM etc. I don't think that I remember how to use steam gauges anymore. It's a great machine that is comfortable on long trips!

    • @AdventureAir
      @AdventureAir  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As long as the aircraft has the required night lighting, the gyro can fly at night, regardless if it's type certified or classified experimental.

      @@currentfaves65 "So you can fly the Cavalon at night because it is certified and not experimental ?"
      Experimental aircraft can fly at night if they have the required lighting. But a pilot with a Sport Pilot rating is prohibited from flying at night or in instrument meteorological conditions; a Private Pilot Certificate or higher is required for night flight, and an Instrument Rating is required for flight into known IMC.

    Explain lsa and elsa in a video, i know sla comes factory built, but what about elsa, how does that come, how much does a owner have to build, is it a kit, is it like EAB.
    With Niki rotor, i was under the assumption you had to go to bulgaria and build it, but they say they have shipped several units to the U.S without owners having to go built it there.

    I have just a quick practical question. Since they burn regular car gas, what logistics are involved to fly cross country, like your Florida to California trip, when you need to refuel? I would have thought that FBOs don't offer mogas and you'd have to leave the airport and go to a regular gas station, but maybe I'm wrong about that? Also, about how many gallons is a refill from however much you normally have in reserve when you land, to topped off? Thanks so much!

    • @AdventureAir
      @AdventureAir  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use 100LL avgas in rotax, they just prefer pump gas. You can bring an additive to add to the 100LL when you fill up if you're that particular, but 100LL doesn't hurt the engine.

    I have a gyro rating and think gyros are the most fun type of aircraft to fly. Unfortunately, the insurance market has forced me from gyros to fixed-wing. At my age now (70) I can no longer buy full coverage, only liability. 😟

    • @AdventureAir
      @AdventureAir  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's a shame that insurance companies categorize gyros as they do helicopters.. hopefully with more education and making gyroplanes more mainstream that will change.

    As an ex Arrow driver that cruised at 145kts.....(that being too slow on long cc's), my ONLY issue with autogyro's is how slow they are. A Calidus w/141hp might fast cruise at what...100kts? I live up north/lots of wilderness), where the ability to land nearly strait down in an emergency would be very advantagious. Used Arrows are 60-80k. I guess I'm waiting for better blade technology so a gyro can cruise at at least 100 to 110kts...
