I have ownedmany boat over the last 40 years. This is one of the best tours I have seen. Rather than focus on the fluff you did a fantastic job of pointing out features that really matter. Well done!
Bill, your knowledge of a boat's mechanical and electrical operation and how pertinent it is for a new owner is superb. Understanding how the various systems work and knowing when they will require replacement or maintenance is incredibly relevant. I also agree that having crew space is a necessity. Some people live at Marina's on their boat but others like to move. Thank you for sharing your amazing expertise.
Kudos to you! This is the most thorough review of what is entailed in owning a large boat! Most people have no idea of the real cost and maintenance needed on a boat of this size! A terrific video!
This "Bill Thomas" character knows what he's talking about. I haven't seen a better review of a Yacht] regarding engine systems or explanations thereof. Great Marlow Explorer 62 review.
Welcome aboard! The navigation technology is like your phone and you will find it relatively easy to learn what you need to know. If we hire you a captain for the first 10 trips you will be fine after that.
The best and most informative boat tour I have ever seen. Thank you. Explaining the components that were replaced the hours that they need to be replaced and what it takes to replace them is invaluable. Thank you very much again and again.
Great great job on boat tour. Awesome beautiful family type boat. I love everything on it. Perfect vacation or live aboard for a small family. I really liked the master bedroom and then you showed us the kids room and that curved wall for the stairs on the bed, that wood work was truly beautiful and I loved to see craftsmanship in today's time when Alot of people don't care about doing a nice job. I worked in construction and I seen great work and not great by people who didn't care. Since I was the job foreman, those who didn't care I didn't keep long. Those who had pride in their work they got paid great an received what I would call extras. I can tell the people who built this beautiful boat had pride in their hands that touched this boat. From the wood working, to the wiring and whole engine room. Well worth the money buddy. I bet someone who can afford it will get it soon. You did a great job with this tour. You get 5 stars or rather 5 gold anchors.
You are one of, if not the best at explaining to us beginners how and why mechanisms do what they do!! Great stuff and great yacht and our next purchase will probably be one of these yachts!
Best boat walk through I have experienced; obvoiusly given by a very knowledgable yachter!!! Great explinations, reasons and tips....That's why we watch these things, isn't it? Very Impressive craft....I only wish I could afford it at 70 years old!!!!
Great video, very educational. One thing I don't see mentioned in yacht videos, is the mention of Planned Maintenance Systems, which will track what maintenance needs to be done and when. Time and time again I see yacht youtubers complaining about things breaking, but when asked what sort of PMS they use, they just say, I don't need that. Seems kinda silly to me.
The systems exist and in the airplane world the FAA makes sure it happens. Most owners just don't feed the data to such systems. The work gets done in a boat yard or by a traveling mechanic and the step of recording what these vendors do in a central log rarely happens. I often recreate something for a new buyer / Owner form a stack of emails or paper receipts. The data is there - a work order was approved and a bill was paid.
@@bilthomaslistings Yeah, in the airplane world its required. Just think its silly that yacht owners wouldn't want to use a PMS to eliminate or at least negate alot of issues/problems.
Look like 62 foot will be our gold I am looking for boat that have three stage room with two main and one additional do not have to be so big but comfortable so we can live on the boat on the weekend. But definitely I will be contact you personally than you for did great job by the way after we found the boat will be need to delivery to Thailand please prepare for that also thank a Million. Will be talking to you real soon.
Bill, thank you for this! I have tried to retire but love to be useful to serve others! Now, I am preparing to retire. Hope to meet you and prepare to learn from you. Paul Chou.
Your tour was awesome,!! What is the price of this beauty? Please answer soon as am very interested.. thank you for your expertise....it made me think seriously about the purchas
Outstanding job. Very thorough and informative. Wish I knew more about the Marlow Brand. Any info you have there would be much appreciated. You could really knock it out of the park w/ a professional video guy. Sorry it part of the delivery. Good Sailing!
Love your boat will be contact in the near future love the way you show this boat will definitely contact you to look into our new boat in the near future thank you.
Gorgeous boat and great walkthrough. but is it really that loud in the salon and piolet house, or is it a microphone issue? I am guessing it the air conditioning but it sounds like you are standing on a tarmac.
The hard top itself is about 18'2" , The domes and mast fold. with everything up I think it about 25'. Folded it will do the Loop - the bridge in Chicago is about 19'6" I think
No unfortunately I cannot afford one of these; but I get to drive them a lot! I have a single engine 42' down east boat and my wife has a horse so the boat will never get bigger!
It will go about 6" across the floor and into a hatch in the floor where it will run into the bilge and the bilge pump will pump it out. There are 5 hatches in the floor.
Great job, but you did not show the transition walking from one area to another. Where are the stairs? You did not show any of that. How to get to the staterooms? Would be so much better if you if you did not cut the video when transitioning to different areas. No sense of the flow, just, ok here we are in this room or that.
show.tours/carpediem Above is the full listing She is listed for $2,195,000 The Engines a C-18s at 1,015 HP each The range is about 1 Nautile Mile Per Gallon at 8 knots and she carries 2260 gallons, so I would estimate 2,000 Nautical miles at 8 knots. The faster you go the more you burn per mile. call anytime if you have questions 941 962 2672
Would love to see a deep dive on those Marlow prop shafts, like from a boat on stands. Cutlass bearings driven into fiberglass mounts just make me cringe. Why? If a ball breaks in bahamas (nah, never happens) and you get dumped on the beach, I'd love to see a boat that doesn't total. insurance wise. A boat should be able to withstand that event within reason, IMO, and not have the friggin shaft mashed into the hull at the cutlass bearing mounts.
as they said above there is no cutlass bearing or dripless shaft seal in this boat. Its a stainless shaft inside and oil filled tube with bearing races and a cooler. Not all Marlow's are built this way - it is up the the customer at build time. Oil filled, thrust bearing only, or conventional shaft. What is best - that is the right question - it depends on use. If you want the AMG solution its the Sea Torque, if you are going to brazil stay conventional so you can maintain it. I only make a recommendation after really talking to the client and understanding the use of the boat.
2,000 + going slow (8 knots) as you speed up that decreases fast. She burns about 15 GPH total at 9.3-9.5 knots. That is where I run a lot. 7-8 feels slow; 9.x and the bow starts to rise and she digs in a bit and everything is great. 20 is great if you don't mind the fuel cost.
Nice boat but 200 hour oil changes? Heck that is a waste of oil, or the wrong grade of oil is being used . Spent many years as a commercial marine engineer and most 40 to 15 KW gen sets are 400 hours. Of course maybe they are building weak engines.
In a commercial application the C-18 would be rated and 600HP or something like that instead of 1,000 or 1,150 and the oil change interval would be less. These E rated engines in pleasure craft are high output and the service intervals are shorter. Probably similar gallons of fuel through the engine (or work) in either case.
I understand the politicians in Brazil wanted it off and then realized their military was dependent on it as well. Direct to space bypasses a lot of government and university based internet infrastructure. Watch the starlink direct to cell technology next. The controllers are loosing control and I think it is a good thing.
Note to you for future presentations: - have the videographer focus on the boat not you, it is not helpful and makes folks quit watching the video. - This is completely choppy, viewers can’t get a good sense of layout and flow with these segmented and unconnected segments. - If you are good at selling boats, do it with customers with you. Hire a good narrator with a personality and a professional videographer not your brother-in-law.
I find this very interesting as well. My most often observed conclusion goes like this, man says we don’t need two toilets in the master, the lady of the yacht quickly interjects “oh yes we do” after further discussion it is often revealed that the second toilet is not that important, but she wants her side with her stuff, counter space, storage lockers, etc. everyone is different that is why we build to order, and for what it costs to get a high end yacht like this you should get exactly what you want.
I have ownedmany boat over the last 40 years. This is one of the best tours I have seen. Rather than focus on the fluff you did a fantastic job of pointing out features that really matter. Well done!

Best description and tour with full explanation of systems that I have ever watched. Thank you
What a a great boat. BILL, FABULOUS TOUR. I learned so much...Thank you.
I now know my next boat will be a Marlow! What a fantastic yacht!
New to the idea of boating, even owning a boat/yacht. I really appreciate you starting at the vessel’s heart. You have increased my acumen 1000-fold.

Wow!! Great tour and thanks for the thorough explanations. This vessel is beautiful.

Salon area seems old and smell for such a large beam....good video description.
If l could ever afford a Boat of this quality this is the boat l would want
Gorgeous boat and great walkthrough. but is it really that loud in the salon and piolet house, or is it a microphone issue? I am guessing it the air conditioning but it sounds like you are standing on a tarmac.
Great boat and technical explanations , just a shame the camera work was so poor.
The only downfall to this video is that there's no active link to your website for more info & price of this beautiful boat.
Where can I find this boat to look at???
Did I miss hearing the bridge clearance-air draft?
The hard top itself is about 18'2" , The domes and mast fold. with everything up I think it about 25'. Folded it will do the Loop - the bridge in Chicago is about 19'6" I think
Thanks for such a detailed tour. I learned a lot. It sounds like this is your boat?
No unfortunately I cannot afford one of these; but I get to drive them a lot! I have a single engine 42' down east boat and my wife has a horse so the boat will never get bigger!
Well then you must have been heavily involved with this level of knowledge. I appreciate the walk through and the education.
What a boat
Checked your website. None of the listings have Boat layout photos to show how each deck is laid out.
I can get you a layout drawing of any boat you are interested in.
Just curious.....whats the range on her?
What a Pro
What is the asking price of this boat. I really like it.
$2,195,000
What does the water go from the washing machine when it starts to leak?
It will go about 6" across the floor and into a hatch in the floor where it will run into the bilge and the bilge pump will pump it out. There are 5 hatches in the floor.
