This is one of the reasons why I can think Rin and Shirou have a good relationship and seems natural. Since Rin wanted the best for freaking Shirou helping him to prevent from becoming his other self , Archer Emiya. Not actually disregarding his ideal of being a hero of justice but helping him to find a good path for it to avoid the bad outcome that he might undergo due to his personality.
I think personality wise are saber or sakura a better love interest but rin is still the best girl on globe

love how archer is the future emiya so he knows everything about tohsakas feelings towards his younger self. pure gold to rewatch. (false, refer to the reply section.)
It's actually odd but I thought that Archer actually hasn't got a clue that Tohsaka is in love with his former self at the beginning but realises that as the relationship progresses that Rin will be there for him in the future so his former self won't get turn out like him. (It's played in the Abridged series that Archer does know about what happens but he's only seen the Fate route so everything is "new" to him in UBW and is picking up info for the stuff he missed.)
No he does not. IIRC UBW Archer is from the Fate route, the one who chose Saber. Rin doesn't have the same feelings for Shirou in that route so I doubt that UBW Archer does.

I am going to be honest here:
at first I thought that Tohsaka Rin is going to be a bad person because she was raised by Kirei, but I was wrong and she' my absolute favorite now
She hated Kirei since she was a kid, always knew he was a bad person.
Its kind of ironic that the reason that Rin has such a good moral compass is BECAUSE of Kirei- he may be an evil bastard, but don't forget Kirei has an absolutely solid moral compass and understands what is good and evil and that what he derives happiness from is evil and he taught that to Rin.
Hell, according to an interview, if Tokiomi did survive the 4th War and go on to teach Rin, her two outcomes would either becoming a typical amoral Magus or that she would quit Magecraft altogether cause she couldn't handle it

You know, Rin was actually the rival character originally (like Gary is to Ash in Pokemon) but, in all the routes, Rin shows a different side of her: mentor/guide (Fate); ally/lover (UBW); sister/professional (HF) but it's all the same person. (V. much like her Image Song - Kirari (flash) by Kana Ueda, who actually had reservations if she could voice Rin since she couldn't work out her character when hired.) The social masks she wears - although part of her character as well - are actually part of the game design as well and the fact that's she utterly beloved is that Rin is the way she's got a bit of everything that people like. Beyond the thigh highs, pony tails and her tsundere nature, Rin is actually a fully developed character with real limitations and desires and Type-Moon struck gold with making a character like Rin.
I like how she can go from teasing Shirou to then being embarrassed and salty about something he said or did.
I think it's because with Shirou she doesn't have to hide behind being an honour student, a top class mage of a family or something else so she can be honest with him. It's actually pretty adorable because, as the Abridged version picks up, everyone is either in awe of her or scared of her because she's someone so she's always thinking there's a reason they act that way but Shirou is just so open about things, she can't help reacting to him normally.

I think Rin is the most famous tsundere (that the audience actually likes). There are tsunderes before her that the audience does not like though -- Asuka, Narusegawa, etc.
