  • It's September, I'm out harvesting vegetables, come and see what's happening.
Nuwe Blare Homestead is a homestead in the Arizona desert. We (try to) grow our own food with our desert garden, we raise chickens and ducks for eggs, and we build the things we need. Homesteading in the harsh Arizona climate is not easy, but we are learning how to use the resources we have at hand to accomplish our goals. We're a South African-American family, so we occasionally share recipes for South African dishes.

Thanks for the garden tour! 🌱
Your garden looks great.. Your Mexican grey & Patty pan squash looks wonderful... I'm growing watermelon for the first time this year hopefully my chickens won't get it!

Looks like some parkour skills are needed to get around that tomato patch! Living vicariously though your garden as i am not allowed to have one here!

Keep plodding on! Remember, it was the tortoise that won the race, not the hare!

@@NuweBlareHomestead Very True and we might have the finish line in site! Our 3.75 acres in Eloy has had a potential offer today and the sale of that would almost be enough to get us there with out water and electric. But still so much closer than now!

garden looks really good. I don't think the watermelons failed...you have a bunch. I planted one 20 foot row with maybe 20 seeds and harvested 30 melons 4 to 8 pounds...I also had about 10 more melons from some volunteer plants. I think we will pick about 300 pounds this year. I love your okra, we eat it raw and cooked. The swiss chard was nice, too.

I planted far more melons this year than last year, and so far I've gotten a fraction (like less than 1 quarter) of the melons I got last year.
