I stumbled on this quest by accident. Had a full playthrough in 2018 and wanted to do it again. Didn't know they added any content. One night, I wanted to do one more side quest before going to bed. Accepted this one, not knowing I would have such an amazing experience ahead of me. No lights were on in my room, so the atmosphere was perfect. I just had to sit and stare at my screen for a while after finishing this.
Tip: Just stay focused and remember to you use quen a lot when fighting the miasmal. Hit side step, hit sidestep. Don't get greedy with your attacks, I learned that the hard way.
This fight is stupid hard. Like I get a challenge and all that but he's harder then deatlath...I won't be getting this armor any time soon.
He is witcher. A bold and old one. With spirit strength. Good boss, not for casuals
Just use Quen and fight only while you have quen active. Dodge when he's about to attack and go in for 2 hits at a time. I got it on my 3rd try while being under leveled.

@@Anotna yeah just do the same, quen attack x2 and dodge. If quen breaks the dodge until its back up

You will get different dialogue options if you do the quest about the eternal fire priest who tries to kill you when you discover he sells fisstech.
Still possible to get good ending by agreeing with Reinald and choosing the don't need a church option.
Excellent dodging and timing in combat 👍 That is precisely what is needed in every combat. I am playing on Blood and Broken Bones difficult, using Light Armor, dying in just 2 hits. But will keep trying. This video made me realize how bad I am at dodging and timing. Will learn these two things from this video.
I'm a fromsoftware lover, and doing this boss at lvl7 gave me the same feeling

I love how they spinned a story on the netflix armor. Makes it believeable, fits in the lore. Even for a moment was thinking "what iff Reinald is the next protagonist" in the next witcher games! I know it wont, but had a feeling there is something much deeper to explore about him... and yes I know, school of the lynx and all that... but they knocked it out of the park with this one. Those having trouble with doing this one, believe its hard, come and do the quest at a later level (I did it while cleaning up side quests after the main story, didnt do the dlc yet. Was level 39). Thank you CD project red! Dont stray off this witcher path you guys have. It works.
Only wonder iff there is dialogue with Lambert after this one iff you do it before the main quest. Please drop here iff there is.

There are so many differences i can't cast two signs back to back mine waiting time is so more and i didn't even get the chance to make choices about poison
Great vid. My only advice if your struggling is to try this level from 16 and beyond if you wanna cakewalk it. Spend your points on signs if you have difficulty with sword technique, and use superior specter oil on your blade. ✌🏽
Any advice on how to escape if you’re under levelled? I went to try him at like 8, I keep getting him close to death but then he just keeps regenerating health. I’m guessing that’s what you need the quest item for…
@@yogee12 i can't add anything here- I rocked up ready to go. Please check your armour. I'd suggest you complete the school of griffin armour hunt as it offers some resistance. If under the level then try termerian armour from white orchard. Coat your sword. Take the potion. Hit miasmal twice from the back then move. Repeat. Throw bombs/shoot bolts at the plague victims to keep them off you. Quen is your friend. Good luck witcher!
Just keep away, have quen on always and attack with fire. Got him without a single blade swing!
it was WAYY easier when i used Aard inside a Yrden trap. Damages and stops him from regen
It says to do that while you fight him but after you cast Yrden, it expires before you can ever cast Aard, so makes no sense…
yeah, the same. how could I missed that information? why game didn't teach us that one? after watching this video i easily killed this boss by traping inside of yrden and using Aard.
@dlr_10x50 it asks you to explore the mines, if you do that you will gain all the info to beat him. Plus he alsos says this in the middle of the battle as well.
@@Dragon_Fyreexplore the mines. You will get 2 differnt ways to counter this problem. First a potion, second superglyphs of Xrden
You can also use twany potion or petri philter's and you even get a recipe for enhanced tawny potion inside for stamina regen
@@Dragon_Fyreput one point into yrden intensity and you can cast aard before yrden expires
There is something broken in this boss. It regenerates too fast to kill. Once I cast Yrden, by the time my Signs recover to cast Aard, Yrden has expired… so it’s an impossible fight.
You have to skill Yrden. At the second level you can barely make Aard cast when Yrden is still activ. If Reinald is hit in the Yrden circle and is about half life, this will result in a critical hit.
@@jan8265 I loaded up an older save and went left instead of right to get the potion, which allows you to cast the signs fast enough that Yrden doesn’t run out before you can cast Aard.
Me too, but I figured out that if I used swordfight to him my santima would be refilled quicker. So the order is Yrden -> Swordfight (fast attack) -> Aard
Yrden and aard didn't do shit for me, i just used quen and igni
I took this on at level 16 on deathmatch. Quite the challenge- taking on Reinald being the more difficult part of the fight- the Miasmal was sorta tough.
I just beat this first try at level 5 somehow 😂 if you use the shield sign and spam quick attacks about halfway through the fight you can stun lock it, used a stamina potion too so I could cast signs quicker, was damn hard tho almost died like 4 times 😂
Easily possible with level 5, the miasmal isn't that hard but plague fighters are

My leveling is slow as crap. I am facing this guy at level 5. I use to play this game 3 years plus ago, but don't remember this boss. Been trying to remember how to play this stuff all over again.
My dialogue is totally different to this? I don’t get to talk to reinald at all just have to knock the miasmal from him then fight?
You are missing a potion you can find in the mines, get that and this sequence becomes available.
just killed at lvl 4 on 2nd hardest diff, i drank potion and just spammed knockback then 3 hits in p1, in p2 trap boss 2-3 hits. Focus adds try knockback into a execute

Its the quest you’re currently doing leading you to another quest by people around leading you to unknowingly high lvl ones
I tried doing this at lvl 3 (didn't bother to see what lvl it was) but got to the part where they summon the villagers then I kept dieing so I gave up😂

I just realized how much I suck. I'm on the easiest difficulty. Level 16 and Ive died like 6 times in a row. I'm old and my reflexes just aren't good enough to dodge like that 🤦

I know I'm late but you should always anticipate rather than react when it happens. Better to miss a damage chance then to get hit and after more than 1 attempt it should be much easier to predict
Kudos for the balls to go axe instead of steel sword! Small blackjack was my fav, as early on I found some in blue or gold quality. 😉
First time playin withcher and i ran into this quest at lvl 4. I managed to defeat it by casting yrden and aard just like what he said though my dmg was too low it takes me like 7 tries parrying and dodging aard repeat
I thought he was BSing me since yrden+aard didn't do shit. Just kept away with quen and hit with dragon bombs and igni.
Just stumbled upon this guy at level 3. Yeah level 3, I won after 20 tries but this dude is a fromsoft boss. Multi stages what the hell
This quest makes me wanna break my controller. I can do the first half relatively easily but then the minions always kill me somehow in part 2. I avoid them too.
I'm stuck here when i go out the cave and leave reinald the story missions is disappeared pls i want a solution 😢
Just did it first try on level 4 lol, was a long fight tho because i did so little damage because of my level. The fight against the red miasmal is pretty easy, i just spammed quen and kept dodging around and landing hits on the miasmal and i totally ignored the adds he spawns in. You can pretty much just spam dodge non stop since it doesn't take any stamina
Yep i was Level 10 and i still needed to use quen, his attacks are stupid accurate and his shield pops up without any hand animation or nothing, so it's slippery.
Dude im at lvl 4 but at the when he starting repair his health i really cant do anything do u have any advise?
@@X-MAT17 Use a character point on Yrden to get it 5 seconds longer, then get him to 1/3 - 2/3 of his health. Put a Yrden and move around while recharging stamina, When hes inside the Yrden circle then use Aard. Do this twice and it should free the miasmal

Its long, plenty of loot, and a neat side story that has nothing too complicated. Just pure action and creepy stuff

How to prepare for this fight?
This fight is going to drive me insane. I did it fine on a PC on Xbox and PlayStation but now I'm playing on my switch and I cannot beat this damn thing. And if anybody knows anything about the switch, the load times after a death are abysmal. I'm on like day five of trying

As a lvl 17 took me damn near over 10 tries to beat Reinald, the Miasmal was much easier.

@@ororo159 health potions can be hard to make for newbies so I recommend you make fire bombs and use quen

Do you guys not explore at all and just use fast travel posts lol? I had formulas for thunderbolt, cat, swallow, That insatnt health one, tawny and petri philter and almost all the bombs when I did this quest at lvl 11 lol. Even got some enhanced oils, potions and bombs and couple of formulas for superior versions and almost all decoctions formulas. Explored the mines, got superglyphs and reinald's potion, specter oil and griffin armour and beat him easily on death march without using quen, spending ability point on yrden or aard or spaming dodge
I'm fighting him at level 4 , too early to challenge him 😂😂😂

i beat it at level 4 on death march, the first phase you can end quickly by doing yrden and aard when he steps in the trap and then for the second phase just cast quen and attack and when the minions spawn just ignore them and get hits in

Super easy, attack, dodge attack dodge. Don't let him hit you. Don't do like i did the 1st 5 times. All i did was attack. Hit him 2-3 times then back away. He used the shield.
Im fuckn level 3 fighting this coz some fcking guide tells me to look for every damn Question mark to make the main story esier. This is 100x harder for me than some fcking main story holy shit.
How did you cast Arrd twice in a fucking row without it regenerating coldown. God Dammit
You can level an ability that allows you to use adrenaline points to cast a spell.
just go to level 10 on difficulty blood and broken bones and after all the doge comments for the miasmal just gunna try that ignore the minnions

@@danielc1241 its a gimmick fight. just use your magic circle and then aard to knock his health out.
I did it at level 6. Have quen at all times, jump around like a bitch and only attack him with fire (dragon bombs and igni will lit him up).
I walked away from this one. It's another example of the game design heavily favoring game controllers. I use a keyboard. I see the videos of players adept at dodging beating this fight. It demands more dexterity than I possess to try to view the screen while dodging, countering and managing signs. I'm at only level 14 with enhanced Aard and an Aard glyph. I saw a comment from someone claiming to be at level 25 who said even at that level he found this quest unbeatable. Two tough boss fights in a row with no option to save is too much. It reminds me of the Kayran boss in II, which I defeated after about twenty attempts - another boss in which I read many players gave up the game completely. The difference is that the Kayran was a main quest. Eternal Flame is a side quest - which is not worth the reward given the effort required to master it.
Witcher 3 is one of the best RPG's I have played - placing it in direct competition with the Elder Scrolls - but it does have its flaws - including this one - where it's just not worth the effort to spend, potentially, hours trying to master a side quest. The developers ought to keep in mind that not everybody wants to own a controller, and battles at the level of insanity, turn away, rather than engage players.

In books, the medallion was described as flat, like a coin.
So now, we have 3 canons: the book (original) canon, the game canon (since Geralt is surprised by this medallion) and the Netflix canon (this one's pretty obvious)
