Breaking into my own house - Sliding glass door is now secured!

$17.95 at Lowes hardware, and about 10 minutes to install. I'm feeling much better about the security of my back door. The original brand I purchased seems to be off the market, but this item at Home Depot seems to be identical. www.homedepot....

All you need now is 3M Window Film, to make it shatterproof.

Gabriel Vandal true, but breaking the glass is significantly more commitment than being able to just push and open the door! You can never make it impossible but every thing you do to make it a little more work reduces the likelihood somebody will do it.

Just figured out all I had to do was wiggle my door back and forth and it opens!!!!! Yours is fancy but I'm going to get a 2x4 to physically block the door in the track.

I have a wooden dowel that I put in the track but it is a pain in the ass to move in and out of the track. I have to dig it out of the track with a finger and I have to watch the exposed row of carpet tack there because I removed the carpet in that room. I'm buying one of these locks tomorrow!!!! Go watch the undeniable truth channel about black crime in the USA and elsewhere if you need a reason to secure your home just a bit. And if you are black, well, you can still be a target.

You can stick a measured piece of wood in the bottom preventing it to be slid opened.

sbv i couldnt have said it better myself iam a window tinter in miami fl get some thick tint on there and it will take you an hour with a hammer to get through that window maybe on a good day the film is great amour guard is good also but 3M is the best
