I recommend getting some sort of door locking device when staying in hotels. Me and my brother were staying in one abroad. This was a top end hotel with excellent service and staff - except one that is. One late morning I heard the door handle turning and was shocked to see a man about to enter the room. I can’t remember what, but I shouted something and he stopped in his tracks. He apologised but I wasn’t having it. My brother also came out the bathroom at that point and grilled him. He claimed he thought the room was empty. How? And at a time when it wasn’t supposed to be cleaned either? We complained and were told he was new there. I was like don’t you train your staff to make sure if guests have checked out? It was unnerving and I was very upset. I just thank God I wasn’t alone, asleep, showering, or undressed. Please don’t take risks no matter how good the hotel.

There are easier, cheaper ones that teens can find almost anywhere. There's one in my kitchen that cost $6, and my kids could easily get one and add it to the inside of their doors if they wanted. I wouldn't approve, but they could very easily do it, and it can't be seen from the other side.

Realistically though, if your kid does something like that it is a behavioral issue that should have been corrected a long time ago. I kicked in my door with adalock, cheap and I think it’s a terrible investment in home defense if you are truly worried about it tbh. I did it in 1-2 back kicks as well. Slows down for enough commotion to be heard as an alert but if they mean business and have intentions of hurting you, not a good investment. Better for interior doorways between room transitions inside.

I wish someone would concentrate on alarms and safety devices that work with various windows. We are using a device we found that limits how far a window can open but it's only for a certain style window. We also put a lock into the bottom of our sliding glass door that connects it to the metal track so it can't be lifted. Most home break-ins are through a window, skylight or sliding door . . .

Sooo step 1: cut power so the internet connection breaks and they can’t check their cams
Step 2: wear a face cover gloves and boot covers(no carpet prints) and crawl so it’s hard to guess ur height
Step 3: steal the cameras, router, modem, computers
Step 4 burn the clothes boots gloves face mask and “incriminating” electronics
Conclusion: dont buy these garbage electronics. Just don’t be a soft target. The best way to stop a burglar is to simply make the burglar not want to try in the first place???
Every lock has two keys: yours, and theirs…. This includes any crap robots u put in ur house

Barricade box is easily defeated. Just mount a 2x4 between both door jams. Secure the mounts into 2 (total of 4) studs on either side using lag bolts. Also fortify the door jam with a steel plate and lag bolts and multiple steal wrapped, non pick able lock sets. Also, get a pitbull or two. Thieves are cowards and hate a challenge. If they hear a dog, they will move on. Install external lights and sirens and record to the cloud. Make it hard for them and they will move on.

Just have a blank shotgun shell set up onto a trigger that breaks when you set it. If that doesn't wake you or deafen the intruder or scare em off then GG

I live in a village and just have one ordinary lock on the doors. I don't specifically lock the front door at night. I even leave the back door open now and again when I go to the supermarket. There's not that much violent crime here in the Netherlands.
