One of the best how-to videos I've seen - detailed, concise, w/no wasted talk. Thinking to attempt this myself. As someone who's dealt with dropped tools/parts (in machines where it could be catastrophic if it fell/got jammed.. had thoughts of cellphone ringing as soon as I landed in St. Louis after a San Jose job - I spent about an hour finding a screw once), I've learned to put cardboard/piece of paper to catch screws.. could stuff a towel in that crack. Good days to you
I hate my slider. I purchased my house 3 years ago, we have an old steel single pane slider. The wheels hardly roll, the locks don’t work. Planning on changing mine out this weekend finally lol. Yours looks great!
This door gets a ton of use so this one project was a huge upgrade for our house! What do you think? Don't forget to subscribe because there are lots more home improvement projects coming. Thanks for watching!
This was a FANTASTIC video. We were quoted $3400 and that was supposed to be a steal! So we may try to tackle it ourselves, I LOVE that wood trim, on both sides!!!!
Amazing I watched this wayyy to many times, this is my current situation, been here 25yrs. When I saw that Handel situation it was confirmation she has to come down..Thanks for sharing this reminder. 🎉😂😂😂
Nice work. You made it look very easy. For those attempting the project, get yourselves a torx bit to go into an impact driver if you need to remove screws like they had to. It will go faster and doubtful your driver will fall down a crack!
oh my... i also gonna install this kind of glass sliding door on my home, but the 3 pane type....... 3 meters long.... it looks clean..... good job with the doors ladies 👍👍👍👍👍
Installing new sliding doors is always good, but I want to share with you my experience, I live in Orlando Florida, I contacted the Masterslide company with the problem of my sliding doors (if you ask, I will share the contacts) they replaced the rollers, installed a track cover and a new handle with a lock. Now my door is like new and I'm as happy as a child! And most importantly, I thought that I saved more than two thousand dollars! Just because repairs are cheaper!))) so think before ordering new ones. This is not advertising, this is my case.
Love this video...thanks for taking the time to post!! I have that same aluminum door (we never open it!!). Any chance you have a slider you're planning to replace with a smaller door and maybe a window?🧐 That's my project! I'm desperate to find some videos before I get started. 🤞
Great video. You didn't mention what you did on the outside at the bottom of the door. How did you trim that out? How many weep holes does your door have? Mine has 4. 2 nearer to the bottom and 2 higher. Should all 4 be exposed? Or can the lower ones be covered by trim?
My freaking old door needs to be replaced too. Everything is falling apart. It's too expensive hiring people to do it. That's why it hasn't been done. This video is seriously going to encourage me to do it by myself. Thank you!
Thank. I'm building a tiny house myself. Do you think it will be possible to install a 8'x 80" door with just two people? I was going to sub it out because I dont want to break the glass but you give me some hope...
I've been wanting to add a sliding door for a long time, but it would be filling the space where an old window and window sized hole from a former swamp cooler are. I'm still figuring out how to frame that gap out before I start, and to add more complication its on a hodge podge adobe/brick wall I have. Thanks for the post, seeing it done allows my brain to figure out the process for my own hot mess house express.
In another part of our hot mess express house we might replace an old window with another sliding door down the road. I understand because I've been thinking through what that would entail. I'm so glad to know this helps! Thanks for watching!
If your door has any trim, you can usually gently remove it to see the actual frame of the door. You can then take measurements of the height and width of the whole door frame and know exactly what you need to order.
I just measured my door opening (how big the frame opening is on the house). My opening was just slightly bigger than the door size so I added wood to the frame to adjust and close it in.
@1:50 I wish you would have showed how you remove the sliding part because I think I have this exact same door. And I can't for the life of me figure out how to take the dang door out!
Shoot! Sorry about that. If I remember correctly, there were two brackets (top and bottom) that I just had to unscrew and the door came right out. You're then able to lift the door up into the top track and then swing out at the bottom. Hope this helps!
Good but I would rather see silicon at the base rather then construction adhesive and would like to see much more of it not just a simple loop (Sine wave) pattern. In your case it was somewhat weatherized but still good practice to run many lines across as a multiple defense strategy.
Ha. I highly disagree. That old door was extremely inefficient and and the single pane untempered glass was dangerous. And then of course, loud, broken, dated and more. This upgrade was worth every penny.

Damn girl, great job, appreciate the tips, going to purchase a sliding glass door likely today and replace my 1988 rusted inefficient French doors 👍

You and I live the same lives haha. Always happy to make it back to your channel after a google search of my problem. Thanks for the vids!
Ahhh thank you so much for watching and letting me know! So happy to help!
This is great, exactly what I needed
Looks awesome.... Thanks for the video, I'm going to tackle this project soon and your video helped. My door is backordered.
Oh I'm so glad it helps! Thanks for watching and enjoy the new door when it comes in!
Great work. Thanks for the free knowledge
Thank you for watching!
Great video! I just purchased a reliabilt sliding patio door. How has that one been holding up? Thank you
Been holding up great! We're still so glad we installed it. Thanks for watching!
Great DIY videos!👍
Thank you!

I'm so glad to hear you're encouraged! That's my goal. You got this! 💪🏼
How did you go about closing the gap when installing a smaller door? Wanna tackle this soon
I just added material to make up the difference. You can easily screw the addition to the existing house frame. You got this!
Dang! Nice job.
Wow! Woman thank you for your video❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
Well done Ty

Yes I do! Just move it slowly. You can even put it on a low furniture dolly with wheels to get it near. The rest is easy. You got this!
@@MakerGray Thank you!

Thank you
Love it! Thanks
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching!
Lmao, The Hole of Death! I love it.
Unless your slider frame is bent or worked u will always measure plum
What is best way to take measurements of your door before you order it and remove the preceding door?
If your door has any trim, you can usually gently remove it to see the actual frame of the door. You can then take measurements of the height and width of the whole door frame and know exactly what you need to order.
How did you order the right size door??
I just measured my door opening (how big the frame opening is on the house). My opening was just slightly bigger than the door size so I added wood to the frame to adjust and close it in.
quel travail gratifiant, bravo.
Thank you!
Level up! 🍄
Thanks Brian!
nice job!
Thanks so much!
They make drill bitts that worked on those screws no need to do by hand
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate it!!
Thank you! You saved me lots of time and money. This is how videos should be made! @MakerGray

where did you buy the white oak?
I got it at a local lumber yard. Thanks!
@@MakerGrayIt is hard to find a black version of that sliding door. Do you have any recommendation?
@@ralphlauren6094 I unfortunately don't. Black would look amazing though!
Makes me think i can replace ours.

I personally think that she put enough. There’s no need to waste 2 tubes of silicone in one area. That’s over kill.
Did you ever found out how much you save by diy vs hiring a professional?
Can you come by my house and give me a hand. A guy wants 850 quote to remove and install door. I like your work, pizza cookies and a beverage 😊
Two dudes hard at work
I love it ❤
I’m worried about that wide crack in which the tool fell.
It’s just a purposeful gap between the house foundation and the patio slab. All good :)
great job!
but doesn't look easy for me to do. money time.
Magnets work
I was thinking of changing out my sliding door myself. I'm kind of scared. 😮
Totally understand the fear. But after doing it, it wasn’t scary at all. You got this!!
My door is older, but still close to the same type. Still trying to talk my MIL into replacing it with a new one.
The replacement was 1000% worth it for us!
A new lock some rollers and paint if needed.... Too many people these days throw money away.
Ha. I highly disagree. That old door was extremely inefficient and and the single pane untempered glass was dangerous. And then of course, loud, broken, dated and more. This upgrade was worth every penny.
WHY ARE YOU SAYING WE AND OUR WHEN IT IS JUST YOU DOING ALL OF THE WORK?
We, mother effer
What an odd use of security screws...that HAD to be an upsell, I bet.
I thought so too!
Some people came here to watch how to remove the door panels. 🤔
Great video, but I’m gonna be the grammar Nazi here. It’s pronounced COCK, the L is silent. Lol
what word was she pronouncing incorrectly?
@@frankclements1431 caulk. The L is silent in that word.
Super woman
Ehh, not a fan of the wood trim. Makes it just look unfinished
Ehh who cares about your opinion 😢

The L is silent
wood trim looks really weird. gray or white would be so much bette.
