Same! But really they are ALL badasses. Sometimes I like to cheese out just focusing on that damn percussionist (and, honestly, all of them at different points in time -- I just love me badass musicians yo! :) ).
While I might have missed some earlier comments, the ones I saw didn't bother me in that way. I interpreted them more like someone saying, "Oh my, that painting invoked the same flavor of beauty in my heart as a similar painting by that other artist!" But I do hear what you're saying. Where I live, a friend of mine became a local musical hero who is now known internationally, the amazing singer/keyboardist/songwriter Kelley Hunt. Years ago, I told her her playing reminded me of that of Ray Charles, and that her voice struck me as if Bonnie Raitt and Thelma Houston had a love child! She accepted that intended compliment gracefully and didn't complain, but later in life it struck me how rude of me that was to say to her. Who wants to be told, "Hey, you're an awesome facsimile of this other artist I love! Great almost-the-artist-I-love imitation there!!" She (probably) didn't want to sound like Ray Charles or Bonnie Raitt-meets-Thelma-Houston; she wanted to sound like Kelley Hunt. But you know, she is so humble that I know she'd likely interject here that she would not play the way she does were it not for Mr. Charles' profound influence, and that her singing is likely similarly influenced by the vocal greats I mentioned. Still, as you pointed out, it's generally neither complimentary nor constructive to mention that one artist reminds us of another artist. Appreciate the insight, Vicki.
If any of you live in Dallas, you need to come see these guys live. They play at a place called Sundown Granada every Monday night. They sound awesome. And there's no cover to get in!!!!
Alex oh snap. I just made a similar comment of hearing a bit of that Snarky Puppy-esque feel on a different track. And I too have that awesome Alex name😄👍 small w🌎rld
Damn fellas, you guys are KILLIN' IT!!! One of these days I'm gonna get my money right and come hang with y'all in TX, until then though I'll be sending love from NC. RESPECK THE KNUCK FUNK!!!
Man, u guys rocked the ending! I had to go back to my gospel roots in the 80s though. Christian music was all I was supposed to listen to back then, ha! I say supposed because I did sneak in radio time with Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Oak Ridge Boys, Coolio, Neon Beebies and Motley Crüe. This cut reminded me of Koininia. Similar instrumentation of world class musicians.
Damn! That drum beat! It's like on beat but some beats or not on the beat but are actually on the beat!? Is anyone else hearing that?:) Ahhhhhh, love it!
It's all in those subdivisions. Straight 8ths could be called a 1:1 rhythm (duplet subdivision), traditional swing a 2:1 rhythm (triplet subdivision), but this neo-soul style is often a 3:2 (quintuplet subdivision) or 4:3 rhythm (septuplet subdivision). The drummer seems to be doing a little bit of everything haha.
So its not Snarky Puppy at all? The whole point of snarky puppy is to be quite eccentric and push the boundaries of contemporary composition. Id say this is more like The Funky Knuckles, a completely different band trying to accomplish a completely different thing.
Listened to another track by these guys - Very enjoyable indeed. Then TH-cam went to this one. The following two guys need to hide from me - The arbitrary and physically painful oscillating of the balance ruins perfectly good musicianship! (don't listen to this with headphones unless you like feeling nausea) Tye Robinson - audio engineer, John "Bear" Arispe - mixing engineer - I'll give you a head start.
The players are so great... but... I am so tired of hearing this harmonies and effects and rythms... above all it feels more and more like "come and se and hear us be great"... I'm sorry that's the way I feel...
sorry to say, but jazz and funk fusion has been a thing long before Snarky Puppy existed, and although they are an amazing band, Snarky Puppy does not own the genre
this is the same exact thing as snarky puppy. white guitarist, white bassist, white horns, black everything else lol. sounds the same too. not that funky tho...
I am blown away by the bass player. That dude is a rock!
ikr!
That dude is my hero lol.
Same! But really they are ALL badasses. Sometimes I like to cheese out just focusing on that damn percussionist (and, honestly, all of them at different points in time -- I just love me badass musicians yo! :) ).
Why must people constantly compare? This is outstanding, complex and eclectic. Let’s just leave it at that.

I can't believe that those guys still haven't "completely blown-up". They are truly fantastic...QUALITYYYY
One of the best sax solos I've heard in awhile !
Had the pleasure of seeing these guys live with Victor Wooten in Dallas, Texas. Incredibly tight playing and amazing virtuosity
THE FUNKY KNUCKLE IS THE PROPER NAME FOR THEM. SAUCY!
If any of you live in Dallas, you need to come see these guys live. They play at a place called Sundown Granada every Monday night. They sound awesome. And there's no cover to get in!!!!
Beautifully crafted...liquid jazz.....love the flow of everyone in tune with each other
Loved the bass player. Solid bottom. Always just enough, never too much. Slides.
he probably works out
We have been waiting for more! Really digging the sax and bass tangle.
Reminds me of Snarky's "Tell Your Friends" album A LOT
And everyone loves both.
Of course!
I was thinking more like Bring Us The Bright, especially with the super raw saxophone solo. It's like Strawman or Making the Circle.
Alex oh snap. I just made a similar comment of hearing a bit of that Snarky Puppy-esque feel on a different track. And I too have that awesome Alex name😄👍 small w🌎rld
Good observation. They're from the same musical family tree.
Damn fellas, you guys are KILLIN' IT!!! One of these days I'm gonna get my money right and come hang with y'all in TX, until then though I'll be sending love from NC. RESPECK THE KNUCK FUNK!!!
love it. dat bass tone tho...warms ma hart.
The bass player is fantastic! The others too :-)
This... This is my new favourite song!
This is my new favorite band for now.
Great sound - loving this band. Loving the work coming out of Ground Up. Thanks guys.
INCRÍVEL!! Ouvindo do Brasil :D
(Amazing!! Listening from Brazil :D)
This kicks total ass. Big up guys!
Hidden gem band ...
THAT RIFF! AAAAAGH! YAAAAAAAS!
DIRRRTY Phil!
OMG thank you guys for your music, is awesome! i have no words to describe how i'm feeling

I am witnessing excellence
Damn! That drum beat! It's like on beat but some beats or not on the beat but are actually on the beat!? Is anyone else hearing that?:) Ahhhhhh, love it!
yep, I hear it too, thought it was a mistake at first.
Yes it's that fascinating mixture of swung and straight at the same time. Blows my mind. Snarky did it on Binky.
Julian Pabst if you listen closely, its the high hats that are behind the beat. I love it
yee might be technically great but sounds out of time...... and shit.
Tasty jams!
Love this! especially the tone of the bass
why do they make it difficult? you all so great...wow!
Miles Davis feel to the piece, especially the horn chart. Makes me want to go to Brooklyn with some liquor.
the beginning tickles my ears
GREAT !!! Congratulations !!
un fluir alucinante!
@3:50 unbelievable groove.
This band sounds like Snarky Puppy on Acid at a Halloween party. Awesome!
Very good indeed!
The guitar and bass on the 2nd movement reminds me so much of Level 42.
very nice!.....new music to me
Super compos, effectivement il y a une "fraternité" avec snarky puppy.... J'aime beaucoup.
holy shit this is amazing
This is like a funkier version of Snarky Puppy's Shofukan. Wonder who thought of the song structure first.
Love it! A bit like snarky started out. Keep working. Please release a album on spotify :D
Thanks, found it now! Really great!
AWESOME
Anyone else hear a lot of Shofukan in there?
4 dislikes? What's wrong with the world?
This is Snarky Puppy with less show-off. I like it
So its not Snarky Puppy at all? The whole point of snarky puppy is to be quite eccentric and push the boundaries of contemporary composition. Id say this is more like The Funky Knuckles, a completely different band trying to accomplish a completely different thing.
That is so lekker!
lovin those theremin vibes
Runaspism I know right? That wupwup wupwuwup wupwuwup woah riff was awesome
vcs são foda demais!!!!!!
Is the keyboard player wearing apple pods :O
Incredible musicians :)
Wheres Kendrick when you need him?
I hear you man! Kendrick would fit perfectly in that track!
dug. yeah, man.
the realm
Me estoy muriendo con ese sinte !!!!!!!
0:37
0:57
Reminds me of Jaga Jazzist
Giovanni Fernandez is that you on the guitar???
Hot damn
What is that effect in the intro? is it the guitar?
just like that
I love it but it needs a Hammond
Dominik Howard everything needs a Hammond xD
true
theres a hammond at like 4:48. well atleast in a cameo
it's not being used 😂
excelent
great performers, great performance, why dis engineer slackin tho
los viejos snarkys
aw~
there is a essence that has been lost by the recent snarkys
Tobias Borkel Ummmmm intersesting
Tobias Borkel how recent is recent?
Que delicioso!
Soooo Tasty. Who 'disliked' this? lol
god, but i want a callowhill bass (RIP)
how do you even count this hahah
This is all 4/4. There's just different accents and delayed hits
not 4/4 the entire track but mostly 4/4 yes with different perfect time signatures
but can they play seven nation army?
Listened to another track by these guys - Very enjoyable indeed.

Who's here in 2018 ?
That bass crazy fat
sounds like steely dan without vocals
The players are so great... but... I am so tired of hearing this harmonies and effects and rythms... above all it feels more and more like "come and se and hear us be great"... I'm sorry that's the way I feel...
No need to apologize for having an opinion... Even if your opinion is unequivocally wrong ♥️
Nice sound and band but sorry to say that this is more or less a Snarky Puppy cover.
Robert Buchholt the two groups are closely related
Robert Buchholtz not even close my friend
sorry to say, but jazz and funk fusion has been a thing long before Snarky Puppy existed, and although they are an amazing band, Snarky Puppy does not own the genre
Great piece! I do like a kicking bass drum but this is way out of balance....
this is the same exact thing as snarky puppy. white guitarist, white bassist, white horns, black everything else lol. sounds the same too. not that funky tho...
half joking man!
Had the pleasure of seeing these guys live with Victor Wooten in Dallas, Texas. Incredibly tight playing and amazing virtuosity
