Gay part is debatable

Some samurai were actually pretty gay.

Ubisoft forgot that trashing history in the West might now be the norm but its far from the norm elsewhere. Most countries actually have pride in their history and culture and consider any form of foreign revisionism an attack.
As it should be!
"trashing history in the West might now be the norm" ... yes but in fact the only effect is that those who do this in the West go broke lol
Something I wish we did here, which drives me insane. As someone who's very passionate about history both in my country and throughout the world I consider any revision of history to be both anathema and a deliberate act of evil and injustice.

At this point I’d be inviting them in for a “coffee and catchup” 😂
Frankly, if you are an investor in a company the absolute bare minimum you should do is keep abreast of how the company is actually doing with your own research and not rely on what they tell you.
As a shareholder, one should never rely on the company you hold shares in, as your primary source of information. This is 101 but even large business ventures often fail at these things once they've gotten hooked into the loop.
They are easily fooled. Look at Musk - "We'll have driverless flying cars running on orange juice by next year." Share price shoots up and Musk is $100bn richer as he sells a load of his stock.
I doubt that. I know Reddit is just a small sample of customers, but so is TH-cam or Twitter, and just coming to the subreddits you can see how positively viewed are both of the games. On top of that we have Star Wars brand which always sells well, and didn't have any games for years until The Fallen Order, so people are still hungry for it, and Assassin's Creed in Japan, another massive brand with highly anticipated setting. If it goes like always, and it probably will, all Ubisoft games sell pretty well, too much people still live in the time where Ubisoft was a company you could expect to release a quality product, or at least they know it's a big game, and because they don't really know about the industry, they think big game = good. That Thomas Lockley character was writing stuff in Japanese that was close to legit history and then turning around and writing complete bullshit in English and nobody looked into in until Ubisoft decided to take his writing and run with it to make a game.
The craziest thing is, people were taking him as a more credible source than actual Japanese historians. It's still baffling how many couldn't see that something was obviously amiss there.

I am Japanese. Thomas Lockley also wrote quite outrageous things based on his speculation in the Japanese version of the book. However, he made it sound vague and admitted that the information in the Japanese version of the book was based on speculation. In the English version of the book about Yasuke, he wrote it as if things were factual.

The thing is, Japan is not closed-minded. They have rewritten history in almost every major series they've done in the past decade now, in small ways or large. There were various series where they made English kings and queens black on like BBC TV, which is beyond farcical. If, as Mr. Lockley claims, the slave trade was conducted in Japan, it would mean that ships would have to carry only people and water/food on the outbound journey, foregoing all trading opportunities along the way. This implies that Japan would have had to buy slaves at a significantly high price for the trade to be profitable. It's clearly unnatural that such a lucrative business wouldn't have been the talk of any nation. What about reports? The fact that there are no documents answering this question is inconsistent with Mr. Lockley's claims, especially when there are plenty of records about the Atlantic slave trade. The story that Japanese feudal lords boasted about having black slaves also raises questions, as there is no mention of "who" these lords were. If such evidence exists, Mr. Lockley and Mr. Atkinson have the responsibility to explain it.
My guess that slavery was dead in Japan at this time like it was in Europe at the time.
No point is slaves if you have workers on starving wages anyway.
It made sense to use slaves in America as it was an lack of workers, most of the natives died or ran away and immigrants wanted something more than being field hands or they would probably stay home.

Da Vinci didn't do any of the shit he did in AC, neither did the pope, and yet Italians aren't canceling Ubi for it...
@@Pitolek1993 You see there is a slight problem. First: Non of historical figures were a main character in past games. Second: Ubisoft tried to force in narrative that Yasuke was samurai in REAL FUCKIN LIFE.
It's not work of fiction if they made documentary about "Yasuke was samurai you racists" and edited wiki to lie to public. They literally tried to turn this fanfic into actual historical facts, there is a problem with that. It wouldn't be a problem if they openly stated "Yeah, Yasuke probably wasn't a Samurai but we decided to spice it up because it is a work of fiction". No, they went their way to edit historical facts to fit their narrative that HE WAS 100% SAMURAI.
But he was a samurai? At least according to all historical information
@@Pitolek1993 we all know AC is fiction, however we need to understand that AC is a series that last for over a decade. In the past, ac is famous for good and detailed historical informations, thus fans have higher expectations about historical accuracy comparing to other games. Sometimes it's not about right or wrong, true or fiction, it's about how the customers perceive it. Even if Yasuke was a samurai, the decision to choose him over all the notable Japanese samurai feels very out of touch. It feels so forced it's obvious that they just wanted to check boxes for SBI affiliated figures. The messaging ain't even trying to be subtle. Real world politics don't really belong in games to begin with, but if you absolutely must add politics, at least be tasteful about it. This form of woke-ifying a game is so tacky and shameless. It's so bad I'm almost getting secondhand embarrassment for whoever has to deal with the ramifications of this decision.
To be fair they would've have less of a issue if they had made Yasuke as a hot gyaru. No one would take the lore serious and would get a hot girl to boot
What DEI is doing to a generation of games.

To think, this all happened because Ubisoft, in their infinite wisdom, decided that they were going to make Yasuke a protagonist, instead of being a random background character that you’d probably either do a quest for or interact with in the story/in a quest, like a regular AC game. All the historical figures are always just NPC the OC protagonist can interact with. It’s not like Assassins Creed has ever been “100% Historically accurate”, and it’s never tried to sell itself as the truth. Did Leonardo Da Vinci invent things? Yes. Was he creating weapons and assassination tools? No, and the story has never said such a thing was fact.
I can almost guarantee that if Yasuke was just an unimportant NPC, this wouldn’t have been blown out of the water, even if he was depicted as a samurai. Plenty of media have depicted Yasuke as ‘The Black Samurai’ but no one gave a damn because it wasn’t like that media was saying “This 100% happened, this is completely accurate”. But because they made him one of the protagonists, and they have stated this is being historically accurate instead of the usual “this is a work of fiction. Characters depicted in this blah blah blah”, they’ve caused all this nonsense to happen.
Ubisoft ruined a man’s career that was built on falsehood because they were trying to be inclusive in an area where it really isn’t needed. It’s actually perfect.
And people aren’t even focusing on the main issue: Pre-order nonsense and pricing. I don’t even care if the game is good at this point, no one should be paying that amount of money for it.
That ruined career is the best that came out of this lol

Yasuke was not a samurai. He was kept around as something the noble lords could be amused by, especially when he was dressed in armour. He tended to Oda Nobunaga, carried and cleaned his swords so he was something of a squire if anything. He DID fight in battles, though his last battle he turned tail and fled. Not sure what happened to him after that. Fighting for a lord in Japan did not make you a samurai. It was no different to how in Medieval Europe, you weren't a knight if you fought in your lord's army
Watch Europa the last battle
I mean obviously AC IS fiction
But the fact they say is real history shows how they really are Abstergo and his Animus propaganda 😂😂😂
Absolute hilarious
I mean yeah he was hired because he was huge, im sure portugese had other black slaves in japan but japanese lorda werent interested too much it seems or any interest ran out by that time. Yasuke on the other hand was freakin huge and a giant to the japanese lord so he was put into service as a trophy basically and so that oda nobunaga can show off, if he held any title it was only for purpose of showing off he wasnt expected to act like a samurai i think he spent like a year if that in service of his lord i rly doubt its enough to learn to fight and act like a samurai with any proficiency
He was kept because he looked like a funny monke. During his last battle that he lost they refused to kill him because they said it would be the same as kill a animal 🗿
😂 so the black guy was basically an ornamental slave? According to job description.
Thomas Lockley, Hirayama
Their aim is to push Japan's immigration policy forward.
In his book, Lockley writes the fabricated story that "Japan imported black slaves and the Jesuits stopped them" in the English version.
In fact, of course Japan did not use black slaves and did not have the concept of slavery (although they did have prostitutes).
In particular, the Jesuits exported Japanese people as slaves overseas, and when Hideyoshi found out about it, he was furious, which led to the decision to ban Christianity in Japan.
This series of events is a plot by activists to destroy Japan in order to spread the lie that "Japan also had black slaves, so Japan should accept black immigrants."
As for Hirayama, looking at his career, he went from being a high school teacher to being a university professor.
He was active in the Communist Party and was a member of the left-wing educational organization "Nikkyoso." He also "created" things that were not written in the documents at one time.
He has ties to the film industry and is on friendly terms with the left-wing media.
Lockley has ties to immigrant advocacy groups and was found to have ties to a well-known DEI organization in Japan.
I was so excited when the reveal trailer started. Then I finished the trailer and was somewhat underwhelmed. Now all the newer stuff. I have lost interest and am disappointed. I will not be buying this game

Long comment but ever so much important, there'll be a TLDR at the bottom.
The fact they're changing the English Wikipedia page for Yasuke to fit the narrative while stating sources that they themselves lack actual sources.
Just compare the English one with the Japanese one, the Japanese one states the fact Yasuke might have been either a slave or servant before serving for Oda Nobunaga, the English one only states "servitude".
The English one states that Yasuke, and I'll quote this "Nobunaga would perish at Honnō-ji, though Yasuke fled to Nijō Shin-gosho (二条新御所) to alert Nobunaga's heir Nobutada"
while the Japanese one states "It is said that it was Murai Sadakatsu (Shunchoken) who informed Nobutada of the Honnoji Incident; there is no record of Yasuke informing him, and the only record of Yasuke's involvement in the Honnoji Incident is in the Annals of the Society of Jesus in Japan."
Do note, that particular comment in English doesn't have a source, the one before and after do and these state that Oda was betrayed, the attack and that Yasuke was present and the one after that states that Oda's heir fought the Akechi troops but eventually surrendered, these 2 exist also in the Japanese Wikipedia, however the English one's sources for both of these, the same information that also exist in the Japanese one, their sources stated is from a random yahoo news article from 2023 called "Who was Yasuke, the black warlord promoted by Oda Nobunaga?" that isn't accesible to the EEA and UK (Yahoo Japan changes) and the archive link doesn't work. While the Japanese one, it's source is a revised version of Shincho Koki (it was revised by an actual Japanese historian in 1975 it would seem) there's also a more modern revision of the original works from 1992 going by the Wikipedia page there and also an English translation from 2011 called "The Chronicle of Lord Nobunaga" all of these are based on the notes and diaries of a man namned Gyuichi Ota, who was Oda Nobunaga's vassal, an actual samurai, and while his archery skills was what catched the attention of Oda Nobunaga, his legacy is his written first hand accounts during this period. Quote "Yet, Gyuichi's true legacy lies in his writings. His most famous work, "Shincho Koki" or "The Chronicles of Lord Nobunaga," offers a firsthand account of Nobunaga's actions and achievements. Gyuichi's commitment to accuracy extended to pioneering investigative journalism, interviewing individuals involved in significant events, such as Nobunaga's death."
TL;DR English and Japanese wikipedias differ with its contents but also with their sources, the Japanese one quotes HISTORICAL documentations, while the English one quotes a random non-accessible yahoo news article from 2023 with a non-functioning archived link. Bear in mind, the lines I mentioned were largely the same, although the one that falsely stated Yasuke was the one to alert Oda Nobunaga's heir of the betrayal and Oda's death, has no source while the Japanese one claims a different person did infact alert the heir, not Yasuke.
(Another thing here)
English: "As a result, Yasuke was sent to the Nanban-ji and treated by Jesuit missionaries.[21][11] It is certain that Yasuke did not die, as Luís Fróis wrote five months after the Honnō-ji Incident, thanking God that he did not lose his life.[11]" the source 11 here is an article that uses Thomas Lockley, the guy who made it the f*ck up.
Japanese: "Yasuke's whereabouts after he was entrusted to Nanbanji Temple are not recorded in any historical documents, and nothing is known about him" no source, as there is none to determine what happened afterwards.
Interesting! Basically Oda treated Yasuke as a conversation peice because of his skin color.
Wikipedia has been taken over by the Intel agencies to push psyops. That's why yhe english articles are all fucked
