Splitting the wet and dry signals to two different knobs is the mark of a pedal truly and specifically designed for bassists. Thank you for this. Sounds rad. I can already picture a deluxe version of this coming out with an LFO rate knob, more parameter options per mode, MIDI connectivity, etc.
Just bought it. Been on pretty much every review on TH-cam researching this. So long as the tracking is good, I think its going to be a favourite and much used pedal.
That delay at the end sounds freaking amazing. I was offered this pedal in a trade, assumed I wouldn’t want it, watched this demo, and changed my mind .
The multi-pedal jam at the end is just amazing; hats off to you! It’s so easy to fall into the fun of experimenting but loose track of what’s musically worthwhile and what’s interesting but probably a waste of time. Not you!
Holy Moly! I used this pedal for the first time at our rehearsal yesterday. I absolutely love it, especially in combination with an expression pedal and the Big Muff dlx I use. Great stuff and massively inspirational!
Wow, I have purchased mine some minutes ago after watching lots of videos about this beauty! Can't wait for receiving my EHX bass mono synth! Greetings from Peru 🇵🇪
I just gave you my money through an online retailer, it says back ordered. I'm 46 have more important priorities in my life right now, but I MUST PLAY 99 LUFTBALLONS RIGHT NOW!!!
5:06 Noice! Thoroughly enjoyed this video, great playing & tones. How do you guys keep doing it?!? Month after month you release amazing, creative, toneful boxes of crazy. I love it. Keep doing what you’re doing; EHX is killing it!
First of all, I am assuming that it is mono due to the bass frequencies. However the tweakability of this one (or even more) combined with the polyphony of the Synth9 would lead to a great pedal. Maybe combined with the expression input controlling various parameters as in the DMB. Assuming also that this pedal accepts both CV and expression, I think a video with the DrumBrute Impact sending clock out to the 8-step sending sequences to the Bass Mono Synth would be great.
I've been waiting for this since the first 9 series pedals were released. Glad to see it has a preset feature! For those that can't fit a Bass Micro Synth on their board, or need a preset, this may be the solution.
With the right EQ cuts and arrangement, it surely should sit pretty fine. The exception could the the "bigger" sounds in the frequency spectrum, but those would be good for a specific part or lead.
Hey, Pat. It's Jason Salomone from CRANE. I've been researching synth pedals for a while, and I went with this one...in part because it's versatile and offers preset options, and in part because you seemed enthusiastic about it. So far it's cool. Thanks!
got the mono synth through a darkglass vintage microtubes and it sounds awesome. great for setting a base rhythm down on a looper to play over. Now after this video I really want an Arturia Drumbrute!!
Nice to see a Bass pedal like this. These guys get a groove going why not add that special lil some thing like this pedal to send things into other realms.
I thought exactly the same thing, although I imagine it would be hard to integrate sustain, decay and release, because those are parameters you control with your playing. But yeah, waveform, cutoff, res, lfo, detune...that would be sick!!
I have an idea to make it polyphonic. Split the audio path into 6 overlapping band pass signals. Then a narrow edge dection to catch the loudest harmonic over tone. Then feed each of the 7 signals into it's own vco.
Im looking for something that will allow the bass to do the synth sound on Rushs' " Tom Sawyer " got anything like that with sustain ? Ir recommendations ??
Would you recommend flats or rounds? Seems like flats might track better since they produce a more pure fundamental. Also, how well does it work with fretless bass?
@@hegemonycricket2182 I was thinking the same thing. I have this in guitar version. It's not for everything though having it blended back really keeps the wildness at bay though still adds the crazy if you're into it. :) Actually thinking about removing mine from the guitar board and adding it to a bass board.
All those cool sounds and expression pedal capable? I know what I'm getting for my birthday this year! By the way, how does this pedal work with guitar? I mess around with both instruments.
I'll add to the 'difference' part of the question. The Bass Micro Synth is a single synth tucked into a stompbox. While versatile, you're always manipulating the same synthesizer. This pedal simulates multiple different mono synthesizers, but you don't get the same level of control over the models.
so cool I want to buyt a bass guitar and that pedal a writing song tool makes one creative and flow ,,,,,,,imagine the songs one could write a new era of art music sonic dream bliss,,,,wow like a sythn with a bass guitar music new and fresh and alive
I just purchased one of these for my setup. On my board right now, my pedal chain is tuner, comp, octaver, chorus, phaser, delay, and looper. Where would be the best spot to place the Mono Synth? Thanks in advance.
From my experience with my current synth pedals, it always lies best after compressor to help with the tracking and octaver after Synth to thicken the lows on those sharper sounding synth patches.
You know that feeling? When you finally get that last pedal and say "Okay, that's it: my pedalboard is complete now 😉". Yeah, neither do I 😆

This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for! A means of playing authentic synth sounds on a bass guitar! No latency!
That last sound is the most beautiful sound i've ever heard come out of a bass!! :D
I kind of understand what you mean. I can just imagine what Chris Squire is thinking in the afterlife.
Just bought it. Been on pretty much every review on TH-cam researching this. So long as the tracking is good, I think its going to be a favourite and much used pedal.

The delay at the end is from the Canyon pedal
BY FAR THE SINGLE BEST INNOVATIVE PEDAL FOR BASS, ACTIVE, PASSIVE, AND REALLY REALLY AWESOME WITH REVERB!!! WHO NEEDS A KEYBOARD PLAYER NOW?
This demo gives me just what I need to decide that this synth is the one for me!!
The multi-pedal jam at the end is just amazing; hats off to you! It’s so easy to fall into the fun of experimenting but loose track of what’s musically worthwhile and what’s interesting but probably a waste of time. Not you!

So many good synth pop lines in here
you know the name of the one at 1:22?
wow, it's rare i see a demo and get sold on it before i'm even halfway through!
It's a joy to watch EHX videos.
This is really cool, glad to see some bass synth love but also waiting on the marianas trench (oceans 11 + canyon)
Wow, I have purchased mine some minutes ago after watching lots of videos about this beauty! Can't wait for receiving my EHX bass mono synth! Greetings from Peru 🇵🇪
Well done on winning your court case against mooer 🤘🏼👍
Steve Blake someone wanna full me in?

got one! wait for the demo.
The is what the Boss Synth SHOULD have been. This is a great pedal

Just sent this to my bass player :-) Each month an awesome pedal, you guys rock!
I''m so glad that you guys keep releasing cool new pedals, this one looks great, i'd use it for some Weather Report myself
Honestly might just get this for the Oblivion.
Awesome playing there, the multi pedal setup at the end was pretty cool to.
Some useful sounds here. Really wondering how this will perform in a band/sit in the mix.
With the right EQ cuts and arrangement, it surely should sit pretty fine. The exception could the the "bigger" sounds in the frequency spectrum, but those would be good for a specific part or lead.
But here's the million dollar question: How well does it track?
The Knife! sounded very good at the end there nice.
Totally! That convinced me.
Since you guys mastered polyphonic note detection (like the C9, B9, etc), why not a guitar/bass to midi pedal/box/whatever?
I would love that. Just a monophonic (maybe even Polyphonic) tracking pedal with a simple midi output...
Oh the possibilities!
Love this review, just bought this pedal, looking forward to it arriving
Did you like it? I wasn't impressed.
Patrick!!! Love your demo and the rhythms and patterns you chose👌sounds great for this range of price I feel! My next purchase surely
Brilliant demo chap. Buying one now!
didn't expect Boards of Canada there...
Dude I swear this pedal was used on the song "average brown wookie" by Peter mccdonal. He wrote music for star wars the old republic.

Vlad Jason! So good to hear from you. Get in touch: patrick at EHX dot com
Id be happy with a pedal that just played Oblivion
Really cool pedal. Beyond expectations.

Fantastic. This will become a bass must-have pedal.
Electroharmonics are light years ahead of other pedal companies
that oblivion mode.... i like it
Grande Santo Tomás 🎶!!!!
Vine a buscar este comentario 😂
It looks like this thing does things my stupid syb-3 does not. I wanted exactly that 20 years ago.
Nice to see a Bass pedal like this. These guys get a groove going why not add that special lil some thing like this pedal to send things into other realms.
This is so awesome! Just add some distortion and you’d be playing Suicide on bass! Love it 🖤
Man, you've done it again. This guitar-playing bass player wannabe wanna's that pedal! Great demo, Patrick.
Great demo, good use of familiar songs
5:27 makes me think of 007 golden eye on the n64....good times
EHX does it again! You guys keep my wallet empty. This will be my fourth pedal from Mike and crew in a year.
this thing would be good if it had some basic synth parameters for filter cutoff and resonance as well as some basic envelope functions ADSR or ADR.
I thought exactly the same thing, although I imagine it would be hard to integrate sustain, decay and release, because those are parameters you control with your playing.
But yeah, waveform, cutoff, res, lfo, detune...that would be sick!!
Great sounding pedal, great demo. Thanks! I'm sold! :-)
Sega Genesis soundcard in a pedal :p
This pedal will go great with my Pog 2!
02:28 fuck yeah, New Order!
Nice song selection, too!
EHX it would be great if you could control the speed of the WUB modulation with the expression pedal !
Are you planning to release a polyphonic micro synth for guitar? Someday?
The Synth 9 is polyphonic for guitar.
No plans for a poly micro synth as its analog and would need a hex pickup.
A programmable micro synth would make my year!!
Sounds fantastic...
Just bought one.....its fantastic 👌🏽
Cool bass pedal! Thinking of buying one, for my (Anesthesia) - Pulling Teeth cover.
Distortion pedal is better for Anesthesia, this one is for more pop/electro sounds
If you want to sound like Cliff Burton, you only need to buy the EHX Bass Muff
Ooohhhhhhhhh!
The only problem is you can’t adjust the effect volume. I tried it. The dry/wet volume is not enough for a live use.
Thats how they sell their preamps ;p
Do you not own an amp? 🤷
Out of curiosity why would you need that?
When will it be in Europe? Thinking Thomann for example. February? Been waiting for exactly such a pedal for a long time
I love EHX!!!!!!
I have an idea to make it polyphonic. Split the audio path into 6 overlapping band pass signals. Then a narrow edge dection to catch the loudest harmonic over tone. Then feed each of the 7 signals into it's own vco.
This is now on my shopping list!

Would you recommend flats or rounds? Seems like flats might track better since they produce a more pure fundamental. Also, how well does it work with fretless bass?
This is all kinds of amazing. Can you sync the LFO using midi or control voltage? It sounds great, just thinking how it might fit for live performance
I need one immediately
I just wish that the 9 series had the preset and exp pedal functionality.
the ONLY thing i wish this had was a softer bass synth sound too because most of them are quite intense but other than that, this thing is sweet!
I bet you can soften them up by using the dry knob...blending in more of the dry signal
@@hegemonycricket2182 I was thinking the same thing. I have this in guitar version. It's not for everything though having it blended back really keeps the wildness at bay though still adds the crazy if you're into it. :) Actually thinking about removing mine from the guitar board and adding it to a bass board.
I use an autowah after that which makes sounds smoother.
As the folks on the interwebz say, shut up and take my money.
wish it had the minimoog bass sound...like the one heard to some Chigago songs produced by David Foster..i think 🤔
The EHX Synth 9 pedal has that sound.
All those cool sounds and expression pedal capable? I know what I'm getting for my birthday this year! By the way, how does this pedal work with guitar? I mess around with both instruments.
Really good!
MUST HAVE!!
I can hear the sound of millions of bass speakers crying out in pain due to the sub octaves.
Still, cool pedal.
Hopefully it's got compression built in like on the synth 9
Those bass players can eat it
Does the pedal lose the saved presets when the battery dies or is removed?
if this tracks way better than the 9 series pedals you can just take my money now
Exciting stuff!!
Will this work well with the low B of a 5 string bass?
Yes
it would be cool if there was an app that allowed the user to taylor the sound in depth and save to the pedal.
Would I be able to get the same tones and effects on the EHX micro bass synth? what's the difference between them?
No that is a different sound and different circuit.
I'll add to the 'difference' part of the question. The Bass Micro Synth is a single synth tucked into a stompbox. While versatile, you're always manipulating the same synthesizer. This pedal simulates multiple different mono synthesizers, but you don't get the same level of control over the models.
Will this work in my 6-string rig?
so cool I want to buyt a bass guitar and that pedal a writing song tool makes one creative and flow ,,,,,,,imagine the songs one could write a new era of art music sonic dream bliss,,,,wow like a sythn with a bass guitar music new and fresh and alive
Synth is the past, present and future

I'm so ready for it, but I'm not sure my bass is !
Can I get this bad boy early at NAMM?
No but it will be there.
@@EHX Straightforward. I like it.
EHX the master teasers. They teased me with the cock fight a few years ago at namm
Sounds great, tracks great.
Polyphonic guitar version would be amazing. It would give an enzo a run for its money
we make a polyphonic version for guitar called the Synth9
I’m sure a mono guitar version is coming!
so how does it sound if you put a real mono synth through it?
Just my thought! I wanna route it as an fx send and blend with 303 sound

Amazing!!!! How does this respond with guitar?
They have one of the same line specifically for guitar.
@@scottsigler With a different set of sounds tho
5:18 WOW
Fuck me!! This pedal is amazing....
Buying one pronto...
Thanks EHX❤️
More demos please!!!!
funky stuff!
Gotta get me one of these.
I NEED THAT!!!!
