DANG! the bowed and split modes sound great. Does the CTRL1 knob control range for the Split mode? Reminds me of the Boss OC3 poly mode, the range knob really helps you dial it in right, I'm hoping EHX implements that control as well. Now if only the 9 series had an option for preset saving/recalling....
As a musician who is more on the weird side of the spectrum, I wonder how this pedal would work with unpitched material or material with complex frequency content, such as a recording of birdsong (it definitely works well with Birdland), sounds of a busy street or the output of a modulated complex oscillator.

You can never replace a bass player but its great when you dont have one on call! I am sad to see bass players are not using it with a guitar so they can play bass and with a click double on guitar parts. That is the bass players revenge!
Hi EHX, this is a very unique pedal, specialy for the Split Bass mode (7). I use a baritone guitar in a 2 piece band and we play some heavy stuff. So I am in a need of something that could help me filling the bass sounds while playing guitar. Would bass 9 work fine when playing chords in Split Mode, in a dual amp setup? Fine for me would be not getting muddy when playing multiple notes. Thanks!
Hey EHX, I saw this thing on a sweetwater catalog and thought It was a bass pedal. I know it isn't, but could you use it for a bass anyway? I feel like it would still give you a lot of cool tones.
The only thing missing, IMO, is portamento for the synth sounds. Maybe it's not possible for guitar without MIDI. But yeah, an all-in-one box would be epic.
I think one thing that this pedal could use is an octave off (!) switch to use with bass. So that your bass can emulate all of those other basses without playing an octave down.
I have a lot off basses so I am waiting for a "bass to guitar" pedal. Can't wait to have a Telecaster, Stratocaster and a Les Paul sound from my Jazz bass...
A couple ways to reach this goal.Use a pitch fork up 1 octave first then go into this pedal. Hey maybe get a 4 string guitar ..you could remove the 2 unwanted high strings.Any cheap lightweight electric guitar would work. If you wanted to really spend more effort you could modify a 6 string electric with a wider nut to fit 4 strings like a baritone up a and change the bridge....Wait try a electric. Baritone uke and voila the is pedal works giving you all the bass sounds plus the uke baritone if wanted for extra or by pass the uke baritone and have only these bass sounds. Maybe these crazy ideas will help you come up with what you want.God bless you bass player...

Just ordered this. Figured I ain't died from Covid yet, and don't want to risk trying out / touching a bunch of bass guitars at Guitar Center. EHX should develop an acoustic 9 pedal. The guitars should be hollow body, semi hollow, banjo, mandolin, ukelele, dreadnought, parlor, resonator, 12 sting, and others I can't think of. For tuning it should have a knob to instantly change tuning too, right on the pedal. Like a click knob. I like the Line 6 Variax models which "model" so many models, but I don't want another axe, I love the ones I have, just another pedal please.
Bill always does such a fine job of showing what these pedals are capable of. Using examples from familiar tunes just shows how usable the sounds could be on gigs and his clear grasp of all the control features shows the possibilities built into the pedal. This isn't wasting my time watching some hack goofing for 20 minutes. I, for one, really appreciate that.
Wow - this simply is not your grandfather or father's Electro-Harmonix company! As what the evil geniuses over there are now doing is pure alchemy! Such well-thought-out and useful effects. Especially for guitarists multitracking their own compositions, this pedal has a really nice range of exceptionally useful and unique sounds!
I will watch Anything by: Bill Ruppert. I still Loose my mind, over his rendition of Led Zeppelin's No Quarter. EHX is so innovative and Bill is just amazing.

EHX if it worked well with acoustic guitar, this would sell like crazy to all the thousands of loopers out there that currently only have octave pedals to use for this purpose.
I plan on using my acous with this as well. There is a music store 25 miles from me that has it in stock. I’m going to go down and try it and I will post about it here. I’m hoping it will work out well. If not, @EHX, maybe you can work on something designed specifically for this area, acoustic guitarists using it for constant accompaniment. Maybe a parameter you can set for the effected range, F#3 seems a bit high, it could work great in some cases, but think about strumming an Open Amin, A2 and E3 ringing together, both in that range, how does the monophonic tracking choose? Is it flip floppy? I think it would be nice to have a range parameter and and option to “choose lowest note” in monophonic. Split Bass could be its OWN pedal and it could be one of the most useful pedals if done right.
The gentleman that does these demos is truly a great musician.

Yes it works but will make the bass very very low!!!!

It would work if you played up in the guitar range. For it to sound like a Bass guitar it is best played with a 6 string guitar.

An Acoustic9 sounds like a fantastic idea! A Sitar or erhu could also be cool, since they already made a sitar pedal.

I’m assuming these are all guitar rather than bass amps? ie, I’m assuming the low frequencies won’t break the speaker on the average guitar amp?
Paul it depends on how loud you get playing through the amp. If your real loud a bass amp would be ideal but at lower levels guitar amps will work.

Tried it with an acoustic guitalele with LR Baggs Anthem pickup and it worked well :-)
