On a side note: You should try to hook up with Holley and put EFI on that thing. They seem to help out a lot of TH-cam channels so you never know, can’t hurt to try.

rebuild the carb and swap points for aftermarket ignition module(something like pertronix), carry a spare sealed in bag inside ammo box. if you're really worried, carry points, condenser, cap, rotor, wires and plugs also.
that's what we did for trail/right of way riding in West Virginia(mostly all vw powered rail buggies). sold and changed points, electronic kit, cap/rotor, wire and plug spares to someone on the trails a handful of times. never had any go bad on our own, but people there always needed something and we always helped to keep the fun going, when possible. 😁

Fixing that will be a bit of a head-scratcher to figure out the right link and strut config. (if it's even worth fixing?)

It seems like you have a great base to start with. The 318 is a good basic reliable motor. Master cylinders, possible slaves are going to be simple. The track belt’s just seem to be the most effort and biggest hit to wallet. That is what it looks like from 2500 miles away!

@@throttlebottle5906 just calling the shot before it happens. When a hard core Chevy man buys a poorly running machine that's powered by something other than GM, and he's got his own junkyard full of GM, I'd say the likelihood of the tucker getting a GM powerplant is pretty high.

You will like this one when winter arrives. Bud Nixon from Oergon uses on for fun. From what knew of the old ones used for trail groomers, neglect was their biggest problem. They let them sit for 8 months of the year and then hopped in and expected them to go, of course most everything was volunteer in those days. Maybe the oil was changed. I doubt if they were greased regularly. That aside they still did the job which meant they ran for almost 24 hours each time because they are not fast. They sort of remind me of the Model T with tracks.
