Fit at the top of the handle and the brass is sub par...7/10. Detracts from the rest of the knife.

What is that white “sugar” he put on hot metal?
Borax. It’s used as a flux to bind impurities lift them away from the metal and to prevent oxygen getting to the blade and causing more scale.
