I actually made my own pc case aswell, I used some plexiglass to make a box for the PSU and Storage drives, and then a motherboard tray I cut out of an old pc went on top to cover it up, I love the DIY aspect of these kinds of builds, I'd definitely want to see more of that
Dang, forget case modding. Chair-desk is allowing full on case building! As someone that enjoys doing some basic woodwork, this is a doubly excellent video, sir 👍
Morning Spiderman Nice Job! Kiddos & I Started Spraying PC Cases like were tagging the School behind the Gym. I cut Vynil Stickers first to put on there, so after were done going Hog with the different colors, we can take the Stickers of Mario, Sonic, Etc. And BOOM! It's Art!
The end result looks decent considering you didn't have specialized materials and tools like 3D printer, metal cutting tools and machinery. However I think you can improve it further and make it better like adding extra USB ports maybe SD card reader and power button which I didn't see. As you know these extra ports are on the front or next to it on any PC from time immemorial in an era when only gods like the chair desk only existed.😆 Another thing you should make spot for extra SATA harddrives and finish the backside of your case. I think next time you try to build another case you will get much better. It is definitely interesting experiment for those that want to build own case although I have seen others use cardboard.
There was a power button but it was just kind of tucked to the side of the case. Just a generic one, I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the front and where to mount it. That would definitely be cool to work in some drive bays and things like that, I will have to think about that one. Hopefully it will further evolve over time 🙂. And I've seen some of the cardboard builds as well, they can definitely be pretty neat.
I hope when you are a ridiculously successful youtuber (with custom sets and full-time writing and editing and sound staff and marketing staff and all that)..... that the blinds and chair-desk come along for the ride. :)
That is something I've thought of doing but never have. Good job on your first one! My 4 yr old watched with me and said "I wish you had a chair desk." You may have some competition! As for screen capture, I just use a pass through capture device and OBS on my main computer. That way I can easily hook up any machine and capture the output. Hit me up if you have any questions about it.
😄 Everyone needs a Chairdesk! And I appreciate that. Sounds like OBS might be the way to go. Seems like a lot of people use it, even for live streams and stuff. I have a little vid capture device, and it does work with my editing software. But OBS would definitely be good to know, especially if I ever wanted to do a stream or something. I will have to look into that.
Nice job. Pretty sure though that the wood frame and plexiglass case won't stop any EM radiation. Don't give this build to a relative with a pacemaker. . . .
Cool project! Like your vids and style. If you want to make it more compact, wood is kind of hard to work with, since you need a bit of girth to the material, if you see what I mean. You could get a set of makerbeams and use that to construct the box, I think that could work. Nice work anyways!
That is an interesting idea. Those do look like they could be pretty useful for a build. I will have to look into them a bit more, could be neat. And I appreciate that, thank you for watching!
Version 2 PC Case...create a hinged side...just because I am sure Walmart has an inexpensive bronze hinge set, and everyone needs easy access to change out hardware.
Chair Desk. Alright, more legit comment haha. I'd love to see you find a cheap capture card and put it into an old optiplex or something to make a nice little screen recording rig. It'd fix the problem (that I'm guilty of too) of recording the screen with a camera. Could make a pretty cool video, too!
😄 ChairDesk indeed! And I'm with you on the capture card thing. That is actually the end goal with this build. I want to mount a capture device into it, install some capture software, and then (if all goes well), just use it for that purpose. Which, it would have been better if it was a bit smaller but think it should be alright. An Optiplex would work well too though, especially the SFF models, really compact and could move it around easily.
Right now I plan on using it mainly for video capture and maybe some streaming. Possibly even a little prison for mini Cloud if he continues to act up 😄. That is an interesting idea though, it would look cool in a living room and likely blend well in an entertainment center type thing. I'll probably be doing more stuff like this in the future, will definitely keep that in mind!
Very true. That also played a roll in why I built a separate PC to capture video. To get a better idea of how they do with gaming and not gaming + running screen cap software.
@@LowcastleTech an old 2nd gen i5 would be enough to do 4k capture. What I would do is get a raspberry pi capture card thing so you can can a low power capture PC.
@@appsaucetech Raspberry Pi could be a good solution. I snagged one up years ago, and it's mostly just been sitting on a shelf 🙂. Going to have to get into some projects eventually. They are really cool though.

That could be a lot of fun. I've always wanted to get into 3d printing, it looks awesome. So far, just one of those things where it's hard to find the time to step in and learn a new skill and all that. But definitely something I hope to get into in the future!
i seek your expertise regarding a computer issue. i got a refurbished Dell Precision T3630. i put in my Geforce 1650. The PSU is 500+ should be acceptable. but its getting crazy-Hot temperature (did not measure it, but just put my hand up to the vent) after playing Skyrim for 6 hours straight. so am getting worried about too much heat, i opened up the case. i put a big fan by it turned it away from the computer to try and draw the heat out of it.. its cooler... by far... but do you think this is a potential hazard - leaving the computer case open with an exterior fan on it.. or am i solving this creatively.. ??
Well, it's hard to say for sure but I will say that GPUs do tend to get pretty hot. The first time I ran one for a while I was surprised as well and thought something might be wrong. But yeah, taking some extra precaution and stuff is never a bad idea. As far as opening the case and using another fan, I think you should be fine. You may not want to leave it open all the time though, maybe just when you're gaming and know it's going to heat up. I had a similar issue a while ago during video rendering. If the PC spent more than 20 mins rendering a vid it would get super hot, I started popping off the side panel just to get some more airflow when I was doing that specifically and it seemed to help. The only thing I might be concerned about is dust since the case will be open more often. Hard to imagine it being a huge deal, but just something to keep an eye on.
@@LowcastleTech "You may not want to leave it open all the time though, maybe just when you're gaming and know it's going to heat up" - thats what ive been doing so far, seems to be working out ok, the temperature is not hot anymore. i turn off the fan when i stop playing the gpu intensive games.
@@ipressedabutton Nice. Yeah, if it feels ok temperature-wise with that solution, seems like it would be fine. Pretty cool idea with the fan as well (no pun intended... ok maybe a little intended) 🙂
@@LowcastleTech thats a nice computer case you made, its Creatively Inspired. looks like you can get all the air in there you want. actually looks better than a premade case.
@@johnathanjamesjohnsonjr7408 That could be pretty sweet. I was thinking about using some kind of mesh netting or screen type material to fill in the sides. Would work as a good filter to keep dust out and still have solid air flow.
