    Performance breaks cost to much after market, $3,000 for a good looking set is criminal especially when speccing it through the a dealers builder website the additional cost is $1,500 at most unless you spring of CCB which range from $7K up to $20k.

    In order to align the covers properly on a vehicle's caliper to meet the mounting points you can push or pull the welded arms closer to each other or away from each other as required. Each arm is welded at the front plate but the rest of the arm is free to adjust without snapping. The arms are made of aluminum so they will take a stretch, see image attached for reference, thank you!

    Can you send us a picture that shows the incorrect fitment.

    I ordered the generic ones myself. Haven't been installed yet. I don't want the MGP logo and "rivets" to be so prominent because I think it looks cheap, so thinking about hitting them with some VHT red anodized paint.
    Glad to know they actually shield brake dust, my Konigs are constantly covered in dust. Now I have a legit reason to justify these covers besides just being a cheap bastard. 🙃

      One thing I've learned about these whether they're retailed directly from the manufacturer or from an independent seller is that if you even as much open the package they consider that a "used" item and will not refund your money if you discover a bad fit.
      Basically, the clips on my rear calipers are too wide to seat correctly. The seller advertised as fitting my year make/model, but they don't fit. Since I opened the plastic bag to try fitment (like duh) of just one of the clips, they will not accept a return/refund. Rather than lose basically $200 I'm going to break out the old Dremel and adapt those clips to work.
      Their business model is a bit shady to say the least, so if anyone is in the market for these covers make sure, then triple check you're ordering the right version specific to your vehicle, because just opening the plastic packaging voids your refund, giving you one shot to get it right.
      $200 isn't chump change for a lot of ppl.

    • @peterking3131
      @peterking3131 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@matthewhartman7176 Absolutely. It is a way how MGP and CCI communicate and sell that definitely turned my sight to AliExpress. Found right seller there who is also manufacturer. He checked my exact model, asked for pics and made custom tailored aluminum covers with any logo or color without up price. 2,5 weeks later box arrived and voila. Way, way nicer for roughly 200$ (instead of 300$ for definitely less attractive final product). It is great that we can learn from each others how to make better purchases.

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      There would be substantially more dust on the wheels without the covers. Of course they won’t block everything but considering that I don’t clean them for months at a time and they’re still basically clean, I’d consider that to be a good indicator
      The amount of dust under the covers when we removed them for a brake job was substantial as well

    I understand your reason as to why you got it and how you think it looks cool and how you're not trying to be something you're not. In my opinion though if you don't really care about that aspect of your car (because as you stated it is your ladies car) why even bother buying nice wheels then? Doesn't it just defeat the purpose of going all out for that aspect of the car? You don't really need nice wheels. You could've used that money to improve the car in some other areas. That's just my opinion though. I would like to hear why you went half way with that portion of that car.

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Great question!
      I should probably be more specific about what I define as a show car, having owned a few in the past. If the car were a show car, I would run the proper big brake kit and authentic wheels. Since it’s my girlfriends automatic awd daily driver, and I have a 350z and panigale, I have no interest in improving the performance of the car. Every modification I’ve done to this car, except for the swift springs which improved handling, has only improved the car aesthetically. Ultimately we now have a car that looks good, handles well, and gets a lot of complements. So as far as I’m concerned I’ve made every choice I’ve wanted to in order to improve this car in almost every category like you said.
      And in reference to the wheels, these are replicas and if I wanted to get the show wheels I would have probably spent at least twice as much. They were certainly an improvement over the stock 17s which look hideous.
      So to sum it up, I do care how it looks, or else I wouldn’t have done any of this in the first place. But it’s not a show car, and if it was, I would have spent a significantly higher amount of money on everything. Also my gf loves it
