I got the Kanto Sub8 today and connected them to the ORA4. The near-field results are stunning. I have the KEF LS50 Wireless II in another room, so my expectations were pretty high. The subwoofer transforms the ORA4 into a killer desktop setup. Everything is improved by the sub, which lets the ORA4 really sing. I've been listening all night from my MacBook Pro, USB-C connection, Audirvana Origin, and high-resolution AIF & DSD files. Clear, transparent, great imaging and soundstage. The Sub8 addition is worth every penny.
@@janlevine7819 love to hear it! I have the KEF LSX II, and even without a sub I was amazed at how the ORA4 is even remotely close considering the price difference. Kanto is seriously impressing me of late.
Fortunately, I bought the Ora's. I had already seen the specs and dimensions of the Ora4's and I'm sure they will be great speakers, but for my desk next to the iMac the standard Ora's are just perfect. The Ora4's are probably ideal for someone with a laaarge desk :)
Not currently in the market but I like the look of the new ORAs. And I absolutely love that Kanto is keeping them magnetically shielded. May not mean much to most people but for us retro-tech folks, we need shielding if we're using them around CRT monitors
Great video! Covers all my questions. Got the original Ora + subwoofer thanks to you and loving them so far! They sound fantastic and no longer get fatigue. Love being able to use USB-C as well
First and foremost: thank you for your work, as a hifi enthusiast I really enjoy viewing your videos! I discovered your channel yesterday and have viewed almost every video by now I don't know if this is a more European perspective but there are a view well loved and really good speakers out there that fit your bill: the MR1 by Ruark (I'm currently listening with them to music) and by Audio Pro the A series. The A28 sound a little bit dull in higher frequencies but they are overall a nice pair of speakers, the Ruark is more open, more crisp at the top end but overall I'd say the perfect Jazz-loudspeaker if there is such a thing. Furthermore, there are is I think a German company"System Audio" with their Saxo 7 active - I heard only good things about it as well as the System Audio AIR 9. I know I know - there are many more out there, especially in the price range from 1.000 - 2.000 EUR/USD but just to name a few more European market-oriented speakers I thought I name them. This is all because I am currently looking for a pair of good desktop speakers with good voice performance and long listening qualities - that's the reason why I found you and why I am on the topic Edit: almost forgot the LN01A by the French manufacture Triangle, they sound crisp and punchy with a brilliant tweeter - perhaps no evryone taste
@BenCaesar Genelecs are studio monitors. They're tuned for audio engineers in recording studios. You can hear every little detail with the Genelec and have a relatively flat response because that's what they were designed to do. On the other hand, the ORA and ORA4 are designed primary for nearfield listening enjoyment of music and videos. They won't be quite as detailed or flat as the Genelec but they'll be less fatiguing to listen to over time and will most likelybemoremusically engaging. If you opt for the ORA4, consider either the Kanto SP9 or SP6HD stands to position the tweeters at ear level. Use Sticky Tack to attach the speakers to the stands by rolling small balls between the palms of your hands, then placing them near the corners on the stands top plates, and then press the speakers firmly against the plates to couple them.
@@LorenzoNWdude you’re a legend for such a detailed reply. I’ve used Genelecs in studios before and loved them. Looking to get my own but I’m in an awkward place of moving a lot so not able to treat a room and build a studio properly. I’m a producer so not a mix engineer so am in between vibe speakers(Kanto) or more critical listening (Genelecs) I think for future proofing and scaling especially as I want to get a sub, Genelec is the better solution. And as far as I know Kanto comes with a sub but isn’t able to tune it specifically. Anyway that’s my thinking so far 🤷🏾♂️
First, LorenzoNW is spot on! I could not have said it better; thank you! I just got my first set of Genelec's because so many people were asking about them. They're amazing studio monitors! The ORA is not a studio monitor; it's monitor adjacent. If you're looking for an actual monitor, go with the Genelec's (or maybe something form ADAM Audio - I just reviewed the new D3V and love them).
@@Jasper_Tech thanks for the insight and detailed review man ! Yeh watching your video put me on to ORA but I think for future proofing Genelec would be better especially professionally. But may do ORA for the lounge. Looking forward to a Genelec review 🙌🏾
Completely agree, being able to tune the sound from the speaker is important for those who want to use them with a smart Tv. Bought the Edifier M4's for my mum's apartment which are excellent for the money but they are definitely lacking power which is where the ORA's could come in especially being white, the only obstacle is the 4 x price tag.
You have been testing some larger speakers lately. Can you get in the Vanatoo Transparent one encore plus for testing? It would be interesting to see where they land and if they are a worthy upgrade over the Transparent zeros. Thanks for all of the speaker work
I have been listening to Kanto Ora and Ora4 today. Many different music genres, constantly switching between them. They are sitting on my desktop, tilted up, next to each other. Changing their positions, swapping them. No sub. The signature is very similar, to my ears they sound a tiny bit on a warmer side, I like it. However there is a difference and not just the Ora4 being able to hit a bit lower and louder but in a few more aspects as well. The didferences are subtle, but easily noticeable. • the Ora4 sounds just a little bit more V shaped, even the highs are brighter, not by much, but still there, • the original Ora sounds a bit warmer. However both of them are warm, just a right amount, easy to listen to. • the Ora4 have a bigger soundstage and they sound more open and clear. The voices are easier to understand. Original Ora sounds a little bit more veiled. • the original Ora has more forward mids, stronger emphasis on voices.. Not clearer, but a little more pronounced. • Original Ora have a little bit more resonance, what I mean is the voices can be less clear I am repeating my self, but I need to emphasize that these differences are really VERY subtle. I was paying a lot of attention to pick up the nuances. I have a Kanto Sub8 on the way and will compare them with it as well. I am trying to find out if Ora4 would still sound better when with the Sub . Just the speakers without a sub and enough space on the desk? Definitely Ora4, especially when the price difference is only about 15%. $350 vs $400. Ora4 without a sub has enough bass for most casual desktop listeners. Original Ora, obviously don’t hit as low, but for its compact size, they sound great. Still plenty of bass for most situations, even without a sub. So, to conclude. To my ears Ora4 sound better. I would say maybe 5-8% better? 😆 They are clearer, less veiled, louder, with more definition, less congested. If you already have the Original Ora, it isn’t really worth it to get Ora4. But if you are deciding which ones to get, and can fit the larger speakers on the desk, go Ora4. If not, the Original Ora is still a great speaker and one of the best, if not the best in its size.
Hey man. Appreciate ur channel very much. Please, dont get discouraged to add examples of sounding. Of course it wont sound like in person. Many of us need it not to get perfect understanding of what is the sound of each one but for comparison among them. And it will be the perfect vid about speakers with some ur comments added about recording comparison to real sound. Not only comments, both please, samples and comments. Thats how u approach most of the audience (comments for those audio pros who screams when hear samples on YT:D and samples for those who "hey i spent 15 mins on ur vid and where are sound samples").
Great review. The key advantage of the original Oras is the size, particularly size Vs performance. That keeps the originals the ones for me. Also, the 4 is in a much more crowded market at that size.
im not so sure you should be involved with making the thumbnails but you seem like really cool guy, i just purchased the Adam Dv3 so while i wait im looking for info and you do a really good job! thanks pal
Very detailed and helpful review. Returning my Kanto YU2s for the one of the Oras- need to measure out / visualize the speakers to see if the 4s will fit.
Really glad I came across your channel. I’m looking for desktop speakers for music. Especially since I was looking at the klipsch r-51pm and comparing them to others similar speakers with built in amp.
Ehhhh - I think I prefer how minimal the tilted stands are, but very much personal preference. I suppose technically having the speakers are ear level means the sound has less distance to travel, but... I'm not trying to optimize things to that degree.
I just received the Adam Audio DV3 after ordering to test them and I think they will take the place as the best computer speaker and portable monitor set up of 2025!
I suppose it’s subjective. What are you using them for? The ORA4 is an amazing computer speaker that has studio monitor(ish) tuning. The D3V is a legit desktop studio monitor. If you want a neutral response, go for the D3V. If you want a speaker that is great for casual listening and can go decently loud, go for the ORA4. Both are great options.
@@Jasper_Tech oh yeah thats what I thought, I love to put my music and listen to it critically, be amazed by the detail... I think I need dfe D3V... I was going to get the KEF LSR II but I bought a macbook slightly over my budget so I just have the moneyt for something around 500 bucks.
Received Mine on Friday (Nov 1) and man these speakers rock, sound is amazing volume is more then loud enough for a whole large size apartment at 60% volume , Bass is really good from these, i can see alot of people skipping on a dedicated Sub, im personally going to be grabbing the Kanto Sub8 tho
@@Jasper_Tech Received the speakers yesterday. They really sound great. I do wish I could lower the bass a little - something you mentioned in your video. Have you seen any Windows applications that can tweak the EQ slightly as a USB attached device? Thanks! EDIT: I installed Equalizer APO which seems to work
@newBlade-zn4ok How far away from the back and side walls are they? Since they're rear ported speakers, I would recommend a distance of around 18" to prevent them from sounding boomy.
On the table in the video, the tweeter on the ORA 4 looks to be slightly below chin height. If that's how you auditioned them, I'm wondering if placing them on Kanto SP6HD or SP9 stands to raise the tweeters up to ear level would balance out the sound better. I would probably also skip the cable management ports, tape them up, and fill the stands with sand to further reduce unwanted resonances and improve isolation from the desk. Then I'd use a mounting putty like Sticky Tack to adhere the speakers to the stands.
Quick question for the originals! Do you forsee me being able to switch between a desktop and an Xbox console rather seamlessly? Maybe by connecting to the pc via Bluetooth and then the console via USB C? Just something I'm hoping to do with the next pair of speakers I buy! Thanks for the help.
Loving this content, especially the down to earth approach you have. I would be curious to hear what you think about how these compare to the TUK. I’ve always been curious about them
Excellent content sir...this may be a dumb comment but we have 2 jbl charge 5s we use in stereo mode outside but we listen a lot inside so hoping active speakers will sound better? Thanks much
Hey Jasper, love the videos! Quick question though: Do the ora4s have a sleep/standby mode? I was reading reviews on Amazon and someone said it was always at full power if you dont turn them off and if you do turn them off, you have to cycle to your specific input every time. Do these go into automatic standby after a little while like the YU series?
Ora 4 is 24bit hi-res capable! 4" woofer means you will get lower distortion as well :D Can't wait to see more measurements for it as well because Ora 3 measured very linear and very wide directivity, but because of the small woofer the low end distortion would kick in very early esp if you turned them up a little. Hoping the Ora 4 is similar in linearity, but if they're too "bassy" id liked to see if Kanto would be willing to create a re-flashed DSP profile via the USB input.
I just received the ORAs and I love them. However, the ORA 4s are on sale on Amazon right now with the ORA 4s costing only 20 bucks more than the ORAs. I live in an apartment. Planning to use these for near field listening. Should I get the ORA 4s?
Thank you for this excellent video. No critiques. By chance, do you plan on ever reviewing the Creative Pebble X series of speakers? I'm in a "I want new speakers" but I don't "need" new speakers, so I am endlessly shopping around trying to figure out what I want and how much to spend. I also am in an apartment so I really don't know what too loud is going to be
Toslink is good for that, but sadly the ORA’s don’t support that. I’ll be doing a video later this month all about speakers to pair with your TV (primarily focusing on HDMI-ARC options).
Liked and Subscribed. These are **exactly** the speakers I'm debating over, including the the Fluance Ai41. My set up is Mac Mini and PS5 hooked up to LGC3 42" at my desk. The LG has HDMI ARC, Optical, and 3.5mm outs. Currently using a Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 BT system via 3.5mm (lots of white noise when no content is being played - main reason for the upgrade). If I get the ORAs (OG or 4) would you recommend I purchase an optical to USB-C cable and run said cable from the LG to the speakers? Or would it be better to run a 3.5mm to L/R RCA cable? I'm planning to add a sub in the future and my use case scenario is YTMusic, YT Vids, web surfing and PS5 gaming. Loving the content and delivery. Thanks!
I was trying to decide between the swans os-10 and the fluance ai41 but these look really appealing too. For the price it’s it worth it over the swans? Or is the swans hard to beat at 170$?
@ if I have the funds for it should I go with these Kanto Ora 4s? as an introductory pair the swans would most definitely satisfy. I just got rid of the audio engine a2+ cause they were just too small size wise but I didn’t mind the sound of them at all. They are my only reference for sound quality.
Great review! I'm looking for small powered computer speakers that reproduce voices well, primarily for work (videoconferences and such). Many computer speakers I've tried, like the Audioengine A2+ that a lot of people rave about, sound "chesty" to me, probably because the manufacturers skew the frequency response lower to give the impression of more bass. I want natural-sounding voices and don't care about bass. Do the Kantos (either model) fit the bill?
Another big plus of the ORA 4 vs the YU 4 is the built-in crossover for a subwoofer, which the YU 4 lacks and if paired with a Kanto SUB8 would have to be done on the sub for the YU4. So there is that as well..
thanks for the videos, been trying to decide on an upgrade and been watching your videos a lot! what would you recommend between Kanto ORA Original and Kanto YU4 if they were at the same price? ORA 4 is out of my budget at the moment. Usecase is desktop mainly video/music consumption. thanks and keep up the good work!
Glad you’re enjoying my videos! Will you just be using them for near field listening, or will you want to be filling a room? If filling a room/playing them loud, go for the YU4. Otherwise, I’d take the ORAs 👍
There a really solid speaker given the price when they go on sale. Hey Jasper, really like your in-depth comparisons for speakers and monitors. Do you know of a speaker that has automatic input switching? I’d like to use them connected to my pc (line in or usb),but also as line in from an AirPort Express so that I can airplay to them. I tried the Kanto Ora 3 inch, but did not like having to physically get up to change from usb to rca
Hey Jasper, just pulled the trigger and used your link for the original Oras. Can you tell me if mounting them on their sides changes the sound in any way? I've heard no but would like your take on them. They'll be on the smaller angled kanto stands. Keep up the great work!
Hey hey! I use them on thier side and do not notice a difference. Technically, there must be some change since now the tweeter and driver are slightly different distances from your ears, however, I think most people will never notice.
@@Jasper_Tech Hey bud so a work around of the 16 bit limit on the Oras, I pulled the trigger due to Black Friday pricing on the Wiim Pro Plus. Using the rca connection I am pretty sure I'll be able to get 24 bit quality from the Oras. Hope it won't blow them as I'm newish to the hobby but thinking it's not an amp I'm adding so no worries...right? lol
Yes re the intangibles! I have the audioengine HD4 set, and man there are so many issues with connection and wake-up. HD4 sounds way better, though, than the Oras that I got to replace them
Interesting! I have never tried the HD4, maybe I'll have to try to snag a pair. Curious to hear your thoughts, in what ways do they sound better than the ORAs? Did you ever try the ORA4?
I've been thinking of getting the Kanto YU2's but hearing you talk about the ORA's makes me want to get them. Do you think the ORA's are worth the price difference? Loving the videos by the way!
Have you seen the KRK Go Aux 3 and 4? They look very interesting, they come with a carrying case and stands. Wonder how those can compare with other small speakers
Jasper, can you see if the speaker connector cable for the iLoud works with the ORA4? It appears to be a compatible 4-pin cable, and I see several eBay sellers listing various lengths of the cable.
@@Jasper_Tech I just got the M60. It sounds pretty good for $127. I wish I had the Ora4 right now to test it against. But I highly doubt the ORA4 is 3x better than the sound of the M60 -- given that it's 3x the price. As another asked, how does the ORA 4 compare to the Hi-Vi-Swans OS-10? But it's true that the Swan's doesn't have a direct usb connector port. That would have been nice. the M60 does have a USB-C port connector.
Set up my Ora 4 yesterday in white. These speakers punch well above their size and sound really good, but a tiny bright. My concerns: 1) No remote at this price point 2) More expensive than my YU6s 3) the back gets unusually warm. They replaced my Kanto Tuks on my desk because I wanted the real estate back :). For their intended purpose (small speaker with big sound) they fit the bill. I also wish they would have gone with Bluetooth 5.3 instead of 5.0 given the improved internal DAC. I also ordered an RSL 10s Sub to pair with these.
If you place the ORA4's on their sides, at about an arm's length distance away (as a desktop setup), do you notice a real difference to them being upright? The deciding factor for me between the ORA4's vs the ORA's or T0's probably will be the height, and if there's no real difference in the sound stage or anything like that, the ORA4's just might win for me.
Thank you for the review! Could you please comment a bit more on the sound quality differences between Ora4 and the KEF LSX ii? Much appreciated, thanks!
Regarding Quirks: Do the Ora 4 also lose their input setting/source when the socket strip is switched off and they have no electricity? The Kanto do and it’s a bit annoying because you always have to find the correct channel again which is not that intuitive without any labelling. …I switch my socket strip off in the night to save power
Thanks for this! Been waiting to see what the 4s are like. Will you be taking a look at Kanto REN when they come out? I'm looking at those or the LSX II for my TV/computer.
@@Jasper_Tech thanks again! LSX are currently on sale for £750 (usually £900), Ora + Sub would be £570 (+£100 for Ora4), which is treading pretty close to LSX territory with this sale on!
Hey Jasper I am looking to take a computer speaker to start mix and at same time enjoy listening music. I took a Yamaha HS3 and I am in love with how the sound is clear, but the bass it's really not there.... I was wondering of returning them and take HS4 or maybe a sub. What would you advise me? What do you think about these latest Yamaha?
I have not personally used those, but have heard very good things. I wish they had a sub out, then it would be really easy for you to add a sub. I’d imagine the HS4 would have significantly better bass response; give it a try and let me know how you like it! Link for those who are curious: amzn.to/3O2tsUl
I really love your videos. They feel informative and also quite relaxing. (: Sadly many of the speakers are either pretty expensive in Germany or are not even sold here. What do you think about Edifier speakers in the 200€/$ price range? Like the R1855DB? I think I never saw speakers from Edifier reviewed by you, except the 1280, which are to low class for me. (:
I use a Fully Jarvis standing desk; but my employer paid for it. If I was buying my own I’d probably look at a cheaper option like this: amzn.to/3Z6boOA
If Kanto YU4 has optical (toslink) input, that means it has DAC inside. Not just USB connection requires DAC, any digital connaction need it, to convert digital signal to analog.
After trying the ORA4 and also Vanatoo T0+, I'd like to mention some things for people considering them. While ORA4s sound fine, they have no features at all and in my opinion are horrible for PC use. This is because 1) they will not turn on when power is applied, you have to also press the push button in front. 2) If you have them on a power strip and turn off power to them, they are not able to remember the last input setting, so you have to press the button to cycle to USB. 3) they have no standby/sleep mode so they are always on at full power until you press the power button in front for a couple seconds to turn them off. Your ideal setup might be ok with having to fiddle with the push button every time you want to hear audio from your PC or maybe you just leave your electronics on 24/7. Just an FYI for those who might care about an efficient PC sound setup. Vanatoo T0+ - these have an amazing feature set. Lots of options, better than probably any powered speakers at this price (maybe any price). They go into sleep mode. They wake up automatically. They auto switch input. They turn on and work when power is applied to them. Excellent feature set. However their problem to me is they have a much louder hiss/electronic noise going on constantly when nothing is playing out of them. I have a Klipsch Promedia 2.1 THX set that I never hear at all. The ORA4s also I never heard, even from 1-2 feet away. These vanatoo speakers have a constant level of sound pressure on my ears from the hiss/electronic noise even 3-4 feet away. This may not be noticeable to everyone or something you just 'tune out' as it isn't high volume. But if you have your speakers fairly close on a desktop, just something to be aware of.
Hey! Thanks for adding this context. I think the one area where we have had such different experiences is caused by me never turning the ORAs off. They don’t hiss, they don’t over heat, they don’t have a bright distracting light, so I just leave them on. I should get a power meter to measure their passive consumption, but given the lack of significant heat and sound, I cannot imagine they consume very much power when left on but not in use.
My Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX set produce a lot of buzz and static when I change the volume from the knob (never powered off, just turned all the way down; connected to my Mac via 3.5mm, but also tried a USB sound card) and they're tremendously annoying, so I'm looking for something else for streaming video and music. @Jasper_Tech in a previous video on PC speakers, you eliminated the Hi-Vi-Swans OS-10 because they were too large for your desk, but recommended them where space isn't an issue. These ORA4s look to be even larger. Price aside, you'd recommend the ORA4s over the Swans?
The Ora4 looks great BUT I've been eyeing the Ora for desktop use and the new ones look too big. I already bought the Sub 8 and I think the only difference is the crossover moves from 100 to 80.
I had the kanto yu2 and was really overwhelmed with the audio quality. As I was expecting an even better listenig experience i replaced them with the audio engine hd3. But i got quite disappointed. There was a lot of white noise and whisteling sound which drove me nuts esp. As i use them at low volumes. Now i ordered the kanto ora. Sadly we do not get them at discounts here so its quite expensive. I wonder if they are really that much better than the yu2. My standard set up are the kef ls2 50 wireless but i cant use them on my desk
Hi Jasper nice review as usual. I am curious as to how good the ora 4 sound compared to the kanto tuk (if you tested them). The tuk are currently on sale and I doubt the ORA 4 will get any black friday discount since they are brand new :/.. I currently have a pair of powered YU (same as yu 4) and I am trying to decide which one would provide the best upgrade. Its mainly for music and gaming in a desktop setup (space is not a problem and its in a small room so I dont need BIG volume, its all about the overall sound quality). Thanks in advance
Sadly I’ve never been able to try the TUK, but if it’s not too large for your setting and the price is right, I’d have no hesitations giving the TUK a try. I’ve only heard positive things.
@@Jasper_Tech Yeah they do get good reviews and the aesthetic is incredible (for my taste). Would you say the ORA 4 would be a considerable upgrade over the Yu 4 (I already have the powered Yu wich are the same). I understand they are probably better but hard to tell if the difference is noticeable enough to replace them for the ora!
@Gagnon158 if it were me, and I already had the YU4 and was happy with them (they’re great speakers!) I would not change to the ORA 4. Save your money 👍
I initially wanted the ORA speakers, but after testing the iLoud Micro monitors and finding them fantastic, I decided to purchase them. However, I still need to test the ORA speakers.
Agreed the micro monitors are also excellent little speakers. My main gripe is after prolonged listening I found myself getting some listening fatigue. Have you encountered this?
@DavidGrasic - sure! I find if speakers are a little harsh or have too prominent high notes, over time my ears start to hurt a little. It often takes time for fatigue to set in; it’s a personal thing too, so what fatigues me may be fine for you.
It could be used as a bookshelf speaker for sure, but without a remote and with limited input options, it feels more geared towards being a large desk speaker.
I just lost my ORAMB's in a house fire. Now I question if I should get them again or go for the ORA4's? Any thoughts? Used on my computer desk for music and watching TH-cam movies, etc.
First, I’m so sorry to hear about the house fire. That’s tragic. 😔 I think the main reason to upgrade to the ORA4 is if you want more bass or more volume. If yes, and you have the space, grab the ORA4’s. Otherwise, the originals are still a really solid option. One other option is: if you’re desktop space constrained just grab the originals and maybe add a sub later.
@@Jasper_Tech Do you know if there's any better tech in the new ORA 4's? I don't really need anything louder, but if there's a better amp or crossover, etc I'll pay the extra $100.
I am honestly not sure; I can't seem to find this spec on their website and mine are currently in storage. Next time I take them out I can check, or you could contact iLoud and ask them if it's urgent.
ORA4s have ruined my Tesla premium audio. Anytime I'm listening to a good song in the car now, I think how much better it sounds at home. I even have upgraded door and dash woofers and door tweeters.
It would be nice if you could throw the new m line (m4, m6) from dayton audio in the mix. 😊 oh, and there are some new small ones from edifier that seem nice too.
For this, you can use basically any USB-C cable. The bandwidth of the digital audio signal is relatively tiny, so it’s not something to stress over. Things were much different with analog cables
They need to be data cables, not purely charge cables. There are lots of cheap USB-C charging cables on Amazon; those won't work. You need data cables.

I discovered your channel yesterday and have viewed almost every video by now I don't know if this is a more European perspective but there are a view well loved and really good speakers out there that fit your bill:
the MR1 by Ruark (I'm currently listening with them to music) and by Audio Pro the A series.
This is all because I am currently looking for a pair of good desktop speakers with good voice performance and long listening qualities - that's the reason why I found you and why I am on the topic
Edit: almost forgot the LN01A by the French manufacture Triangle, they sound crisp and punchy with a brilliant tweeter - perhaps no evryone taste
Fantastic review, thank you. Do you have plans for a review of the new Adam audio D3V? On paper they look quite similar of Ora 3.
@@stk191 yes! Keep an eye out for that video. Just waiting to get the D3V; as soon as I have it I’ll be working on a review. 👍
fantastic super thorough review! great comparisons as well. very helpful! thanks!
Thanks for covering these !
They weren’t on my radar.
I’m thinking between these and genelecs
I’m a producer so not a mix engineer so am in between vibe speakers(Kanto) or more critical listening (Genelecs)
I think for future proofing and scaling especially as I want to get a sub, Genelec is the better solution.
Thank you very much for the detailed review! It was just what I was looking for.
You have been testing some larger speakers lately. Can you get in the Vanatoo Transparent one encore plus for testing? It would be interesting to see where they land and if they are a worthy upgrade over the Transparent zeros. Thanks for all of the speaker work
I will see if I can include them in the future!
Hello. I too would like to hear your test on the Vanatoo Transparaent One Encore+. Thanks. Greatly appreciated.
Good luck on the channel!
• the Ora4 sounds just a little bit more V shaped, even the highs are brighter, not by much, but still there,
• the original Ora sounds a bit warmer.
Also, the 4 is in a much more crowded market at that size.
have really been enjoying your videos!
I shagged a set of White Ora4’s for Black Friday at $319 pretty stoked for them, really love the clean design
Who was selling the ORA4's for $319? please tell!!
Great review! Does the matte black ORA4 have a difference in texture than the matte white?
Solid review man.. Definitely will be my next purchase. Thanks
im not so sure you should be involved with making the thumbnails but you seem like really cool guy, i just purchased the Adam Dv3 so while i wait im looking for info and you do a really good job! thanks pal
Ha. Thumbnail design is not my specialty 😂
Thanks for the kind words. 🙏
@@Jasper_Tech I know haha I just wanted to make you laugh!
cheers mate 🤝
Very detailed and helpful review. Returning my Kanto YU2s for the one of the Oras- need to measure out / visualize the speakers to see if the 4s will fit.
Really glad I came across your channel. I’m looking for desktop speakers for music. Especially since I was looking at the klipsch r-51pm and comparing them to others similar speakers with built in amp.
Thanks for the review. If space is not an issue which stands do you prefer the tilted ones or the elevated ones? Any strong opinion either way....
@@SongSecretsMomNeverTaughtYou agreed! I’ve been testing them for a few days - I’m blown away. Will be posting a video soon
@@Jasper_Tech D3v better than the Ora4?
Thanks for this review and video! A review of the Kali Audio LP-UNF would also be greatly appreciated!
Your content i solid and you radiate love for speakers ♥
Thank you for the kind words! I’ll be working on bringing the quality of my content up in future videos 👍👍
I have a 2 pc setup and want to hear both computers audio at the same time with the Kanto ORA 4 is this possible?
Good work. I like the cut of your jib. I'm shopping for a small ribbon speaker. Love to hear your thoughts.
Nice! Glad that you’re enjoying them. And agreed, unless you really want some serious bass, i feel like most people will not need to add a sub.
How realistic and normal your reviews are
Whats your opinion on the tuks?
I've had YU4 w/ Sub8 PC speakers since 2019. Just ordered ORA4s and the SP9 speaker stands.
Let me know what you think (I’m serious!)
@@Jasper_Tech Received the speakers yesterday. They really sound great. I do wish I could lower the bass a little - something you mentioned in your video. Have you seen any Windows applications that can tweak the EQ slightly as a USB attached device? Thanks!
EDIT: I installed Equalizer APO which seems to work
So glad you’re enjoying them!
@newBlade-zn4ok How far away from the back and side walls are they? Since they're rear ported speakers, I would recommend a distance of around 18" to prevent them from sounding boomy.
@@LorenzoNW Thanks for tip. Roughly 18". They sound great now that I tweaked the EQ in Windows. 110% satisfied with the upgrade from YU4 to ORA4.
You raise good points. Sadly I have a fairly cramped space, so it's hard for me to optimize the position beyond the basics.
Great stuff! Could you please review the Adam D3V's when they come out.
Please please please do some live sound testing. You have an amazing line up for comparisons!
Quick question though:
Do the ora4s have a sleep/standby mode? I was reading reviews on Amazon and someone said it was always at full power if you dont turn them off and if you do turn them off, you have to cycle to your specific input every time. Do these go into automatic standby after a little while like the YU series?
Awesome review Jasper... I have a question for you... transparent zero and transparent zero plus any difference in sound if I add a subwoofer?
ORA 4 VS KALI LP UNF 4 OPINIONS ?
Ora 4 is 24bit hi-res capable! 4" woofer means you will get lower distortion as well :D Can't wait to see more measurements for it as well because Ora 3 measured very linear and very wide directivity, but because of the small woofer the low end distortion would kick in very early esp if you turned them up a little. Hoping the Ora 4 is similar in linearity, but if they're too "bassy" id liked to see if Kanto would be willing to create a re-flashed DSP profile via the USB input.
I want a pair of speakers to use in my desk almost against the wall, other than ILM pro, what other do you recomend? Great content!
I just received the ORAs and I love them. However, the ORA 4s are on sale on Amazon right now with the ORA 4s costing only 20 bucks more than the ORAs. I live in an apartment. Planning to use these for near field listening. Should I get the ORA 4s?
i want a desktop set up, looking at Kanto ORA or the transparent zero plus, any suggestions?
Thank you for this excellent video. No critiques. By chance, do you plan on ever reviewing the Creative Pebble X series of speakers? I'm in a "I want new speakers" but I don't "need" new speakers, so I am endlessly shopping around trying to figure out what I want and how much to spend. I also am in an apartment so I really don't know what too loud is going to be
Would you recommend pairing this with a TV? Toslink Is good enough for that? Great review!
Thanks!
What would you recommend between these and the swans factoring in price? I’m sure the ORA4s are better but it’s quite a big step up in cost
I was trying to decide between the swans os-10 and the fluance ai41 but these look really appealing too. For the price it’s it worth it over the swans? Or is the swans hard to beat at 170$?
I’ve never tried the fluance, but I think the swans are hard to beat for their price
I have seen some good prices on the Klipsch 5's have you or can you do a review of them?

@Jasper_Tech thanks buddy! Amazon can't deliver them fast enough lol couple days to go
Ha. I know the feeling. Once you’ve had a chance to test them out properly, be sure to let me know what you think 👍👍
@@Jasper_Tech sure will on whatever your most recent video will be at the time. So a potential out of place Ora comment it'll be
@@Jasper_Tech Hey bud so a work around of the 16 bit limit on the Oras, I pulled the trigger due to Black Friday pricing on the Wiim Pro Plus. Using the rca connection I am pretty sure I'll be able to get 24 bit quality from the Oras. Hope it won't blow them as I'm newish to the hobby but thinking it's not an amp I'm adding so no worries...right? lol
Have you tried the Klipsch Pro Media Heritage 2.1? Would be an interesting competitor in this range.
I have not; I should do a video on 2.1 systems at some point. Thanks for the note!
You'll get a more natural, less plastic sound with the ORA4 which means less listening fatigue for just a little more money.
I can confirm the iLoud cable works with the ORA’s 👍👍
@@Jasper_Tech Great! There are several eBay sellers (all in China) offering 1.5m, 2m, etc. lengths for about $20.
Saved me some money. I just picked up a sub8 to go with my original oras for my desk. Don't think I'll upgrade.
Did you try Q acoustics m20?
curious to know the difference between Kanto Ora, Fiio SP3BT and Edifier M60 (N300 in china)
Sadly, I have not used the Fiio SP3BT and Edifier M60 yet. I will be taking a look at the M60 soon!
@@Jasper_Tech looking forward to it🙂
@@Jasper_Tech I just got the M60.
What is it specifically of BT 5.3 that 5.0 doesn't have that you're interested in?
@@lanceguilin 5.3 for audio streaming, improved coexistence with other wireless technologies it also has more bandwidth and reduced latency.
I have excellent news for you! I will be doing the exact review/comparison you’re looking for later this month. 👍👍
@Jasper_Tech that's awesome, can't wait!!
@@Jasper_Tech Out of interest, as it stands from what you've heard, would you rather Ora4 + Sub, or the LSXii?
Honestly, I really love how the LSX sound, so if price was no issue, that’s probably what I’d do.
@@Jasper_Tech thanks again! LSX are currently on sale for £750 (usually £900), Ora + Sub would be £570 (+£100 for Ora4), which is treading pretty close to LSX territory with this sale on!
Please compare the ora to the Kali unp 4"
Hey Jasper I am looking to take a computer speaker to start mix and at same time enjoy listening music. I took a Yamaha HS3 and I am in love with how the sound is clear, but the bass it's really not there.... I was wondering of returning them and take HS4 or maybe a sub. What would you advise me? What do you think about these latest Yamaha?
I have not personally used those, but have heard very good things. I wish they had a sub out, then it would be really easy for you to add a sub. I’d imagine the HS4 would have significantly better bass response; give it a try and let me know how you like it!

They feel informative and also quite relaxing. (:
Sadly many of the speakers are either pretty expensive in Germany or are not even sold here.

If Kanto YU4 has optical (toslink) input, that means it has DAC inside. Not just USB connection requires DAC, any digital connaction need it, to convert digital signal to analog.
Yes! I misspoke! Realized as soon as I uploaded 😞
Ora 4 or Audioengine A5+?
Ora 4 by a mile
4 should be compared with Audio Engine A5, A5+ instead?
@ Thanks ! I guess adding a sub would be a better option to improve the overall sound then
nice video!!
I found a deal on the YU4 for $180. ORA original is $250. Are the ORA better sounding?
The ORA are better for near field listening if you want a neutral sounding speaker. The YU4 are better for room-filling sound. Both are great!
What pair would you recommend for a gaming setup?
I think the ORA is a great all around option! If you want a lot of bass, the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 are excellent value.

Cheap EQs tend to add distortion and phase shifting. Everything is a trade-off. I'll choose a clean signal over more tonal flexibility.
@ No not yet, could you explain what do you mean by listening fatique?
How are the ORA’s compared to the iLouds? Which ones do you preffer?
@DavidGrasic - sure! I find if speakers are a little harsh or have too prominent high notes, over time my ears start to hurt a little. It often takes time for fatigue to set in; it’s a personal thing too, so what fatigues me may be fine for you.
@@Jasper_Tech Thanks, I will be more cautious if I will experience something like that :).
So far I am very happy.
So, am i right in saying the ora 4 is more of a bookshelf speaker, rather than a desk speaker?
It could be used as a bookshelf speaker for sure, but without a remote and with limited input options, it feels more geared towards being a large desk speaker.
@@Jasper_Tech the YU 4 would be more suited for bookshelf speaker, as that was more the use case for them.
Agreed!
I just lost my ORAMB's in a house fire. Now I question if I should get them again or go for the ORA4's? Any thoughts? Used on my computer desk for music and watching TH-cam movies, etc.
First, I’m so sorry to hear about the house fire. That’s tragic. 😔
I think the main reason to upgrade to the ORA4 is if you want more bass or more volume.
@chuckdawit you get a slightly higher bitrate (higher res sound quality) with the ORA4 via USB-C, but most people will not notice this difference
@@Jasper_Tech So I guess if I'm using Bluetooth it won't matter?
@chuckdawit correct!
Are you using the SE2 or SE 4 stands for these, the Kanto site doesn't specify which stands are compatible for the Ora or the Ora 4's?
The elevated stands I’m using here are with the ORA 4 are the SE4.

Ora->SE2, Ora4->SE4
Nailed it. Thank you 🙏
Are iLoud Micro Monitor Pros capped at 24bit 96khz?
I am honestly not sure; I can't seem to find this spec on their website and mine are currently in storage. Next time I take them out I can check, or you could contact iLoud and ask them if it's urgent.
I just bought a set for my son. He was looking for a gaming audio system that would double as monitors for music. These seemed to find the sweet spot
I'm over thinking the USB-C connection to my PC. Are there some USB-C cables that wont work or can I get any kind on Amazon? Any recommendations?
For this, you can use basically any USB-C cable. The bandwidth of the digital audio signal is relatively tiny, so it’s not something to stress over. Things were much different with analog cables
They need to be data cables, not purely charge cables. There are lots of cheap USB-C charging cables on Amazon; those won't work. You need data cables.
