Hey Jasper, I picked up the ORAs based off your videos. They are surprisingly loud for their size. Unbelievable. Still adjusting to them and I can't say I'm 100% sold, but will keep testing. I do have a question, have you tried comparing the sound quality between the usb-c and rca ports on the ORAs? It could be my interface line out (Roland Bridge Cast), but when I switched to usb-c, it sounded better. Wondering if it's my interface or if it's the RCA on the ORAs. Thanks.
Hey hey - hanks for the note! I have done some minor testing with both inputs and I personally use them with the USB-C input; both sounded good though. I prefer USB since it removes the potential for interference. One thing I’ll say is placement can often make a lot of difference. So I’d suggest playing around with that to see if it helps (Kanto makes some nice stands).
Great comparison, mate! You've got a new subscriber. I've been a huge fan of the original Micro Monitors since they were released. They've been perfect for my MB Air and iPad Pro setups over the years. As you said, the MMs are perfect for travel. I just toss them in my backpack and go. Best of luck with your channel!

They look cool, only listened to one of the models, but really like the balance between the frequencies. it's rare that someone can so equalize, so that the bass is not lagging and the highs do not drill
Great job! Good luck with your channel. I like your style to the point but detailed. My buddy just got the original iLoud and they are really great. I love the mix of speakers you decided to review. Well done.
@@xMaGuSx888 I purchased the Kanto Ora and couldn't be happier. Perfect size for a desk next to the PC, clean, clear and also powerful sound with amazing bass (sub purchase for me perfectly unnecessary unless one desires it). I have been tremendously in doubt between the Ora and the Kali LP-UNF, which may be more "powerful," but other than that, personally, aesthetically they make me vomit... and they are bulkier. There's just no comparison, and on a desk aesthetics matter too. Then, having no particular studio recording needs but enjoying Spotify and Qobuz, I can only recommend the Kanto Ora (in white)!
Love it - which ones will you get?! And if you could use my affiliate link to make the purchase I’d be forever grateful. I paid for all these speakers myself and hoping to recoup some costs 😅
Commenting to help the algo. I've got a pair of the vantoo and love them. The wide range of inputs is probably the most valuable thing for me. It's definitely my first pair of good speakers and hopefully I'll get some T1's someday
Recently purchased original iloud micro monitors as a second -More discreet - pair to my 8 inch monitors. So far, so good. You can do 85% of tracking and leveling on them, protecting your hearing and having less complains from the neighbours. For a future upgrade, i would probably consider the 3 way mtm's
I'm curious if the iLoud Pros have fixed the port turbulence issue. The one flaw of the original iLouds is that bass frequencies near their lower limit can overload the port with air, causing noticeable distortion (commonly known as "port chuffing"). It can be really noticeable with bass-heavy music. You can get around it with an EQ notch or by physically plugging the ports, both of which sacrifice some low-end response. Supposedly stuffing a port with plastic straws to direct the air can also help, though I haven't tried it with the iLouds yet.
The chuffing is still there at elevated volumes, but it has been improved. Check out my video on the ADAM Audio D3V where I talk about this: th-cam.com/video/-lq48iRy-kI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YoI1RA109xvAGJKR
Great speaker, but they are ugly AF and have no remote. I wish more speakers included remotes, it's such an undervalued accessory for powered bookshelf speakers.
Iloud micros base is amazing for the size. It would be nice if you could have posted samples comparing each of these speakers. I found a channel that did that and that’s how I chose it. No matter how much you say the samples do help
We can add Adam Audio D3V to that chart. Also, for small space, iLouds are pretty much the best choice from that list, because of front bass ports which allows to place them close to the wall.
It’s improved here. But still being a very small speaker with lots of LF extension, the bass reflex can be a bit noisy at high levels. This however will not create any issue or limitation when working on audio.
just found out about the new Micro Monitors thanks to this video. Using the original Micro Monitors right now, I'll say that the bluetooth won't be missed by me, I found it to be too noisy. Nice upgrades all around, balanced XLR-in + independent power = cleaner, louder audio, but as you said, USB audio would have been really sweet. still hard to beat the Original Micro Monitors on price, and I really enjoy the smaller size, but the new Micro Pro is a long needed update.
Wow, finally someone who doesnt just make a Video to have one. (Iam sick of Videos where ppl even put the Right Speaker on the left side without even noticing it). Sub! The Eve Audio SC203 is missing in this lineup …same size like the smaller ones but with passive radiator to get lower in bass and air motion transformer for better details in the highs
@@Jasper_Tech Yeah I really like them but the downsides is that the SC203 are not cheap and the design is okeyish but not great. I currently use them at my work place. Same size and similar performance are also the better looking Genelec G Two RAW with a 4" woover (But even more expensice, only RCA connection and you need a DAC). I have the original micro monitors. best dollars i spent for my homestudio back when i was geting started. Can you do a sound test with the speakers presented? I have an Iloud Micro. Looking a micro pro. But been drooling at the vanatoos. Your video made me have more choices. 😅
I have been going back and forth between all of your videos which has been super helpful. I was looking to get the A2+ for my setup because wearing headphones all the time is inconvenient and bothersome. Thanks to your videos I now see A2+ are somewhat lacking in comparison to others, like the Kanto ORA. Just don't know if I want to drop $350 + tax (sigh). Appreciate you, Jasper. Not a lot of creators covering speakers like you.
I’m glad you’re finding my videos helpful! I hear you; $350 is a lot to spend on computer speakers. If I see anything good go on sale I’ll be sure to make a post to let my followers know!
wow now seeing them next to each other i realise that the iloud pro looks like its more than 50% maybe even 100% more enclosure volume and a bigger woofer. How is the reflex noise on the Pro version? The original ilouds did produce a lot of port noise with loud bass heavy music. I like the Vanatoo approach the most. Passive radiator is the way to go
@@Jasper_Tech ok so as expected. In the mk1 I always used the low shelf and reduced the low end. Sometimes When I was on the Go I even threw a pro q3 on the master output and highpassed them at 50ish Hz. This Made them much more pleasant. However as I Said passive Radiator for the win.
Hey Jasper, noticed that you fell in love with the Ora´s. How do you connect your Ora´s to your computer? I have a Mytek Liberty DAC 2, do you think the Ora´s will sound better in that Combo? Do you recommend special Cables?
Very nice presentation! Would this measurement based correction also work for live monitoring on stage? I would like to use the iLoud Pros on stage for having a good nearfield stereo monitoring of my Nord Stage 4 and of course all the rest of the band I need when performing...
Great video! Keep up the good work! I found the Vanatoo TZ at the $300 price point which makes them currently cheaper than Kanto Oras. @jasper would you recommend getting the Vanatoos over the Oras for my desktop setup at this price point?
So sorry I missed this earlier comment! It depends what you’re looking for in a speaker. Personally, I have both the T0, the ORA4, and the ORA, and I choose to use the ORA as my main computer speaker. I use it on its side under my monitor on an S2 stand. It’s compact, looks good, and sounds great for my everyday listening.
I am listening to you on my 3yr. old Vanatoo T-0,s. I love these little guys. My home studio Focale SM-9 mixes, translate amazingly well on them. Nice presentation Jasper Tech.
is it possible to compare the mtm mk2 vs micro pro, with and without dsp? would also love to know how the mtm mk2 compares to similar driver size/form factor monitors (like the a3x, SC203, Eris3.5, MR4, kali etc) paired with the arc studio dsp box - i feel like these cheaper monitors paired with that box comes to similar prices to the mtm mk2, wondering that may be the best value for performance
I am currently using the SC203 and they are really good ...only bigger speaker can beat them and maybe the G Two / 8020 but they also have less functionality ...also looking forward to such a comparrison (I think it doesn't exist yet)
Are the Kanto Oras good enough for home studio use e.g. recording guitar covers and mixing original songs? I do a lot of media consumption as well so I feel like the Kantos are a good option for me, but I don't want to get them if they'll limit my mixes.
@@Jasper_Tech hahahaaa 🤣🤌🏽 you bet 🙌🏽 because now i’m hesitating 😂😂 My left speaker died on me lol I’m looking to either replace it or buy a new set of speakers! That’s why now with the new Adams, I put every previous choices on the side and I’m starting to go towards Adam AS FVCK!!! 😂
@705tv ha. Brutal you’re playing the waiting game. I love my ORA speakers, but I have to say that rhe DV3 look REALLY good on paper. Very excited to try them out.
@@Jasper_Tech lol yeah I’m very patient... I’m producing music in mono since 😂 but if they sounds good when I’ll get my left side, it means I’m fire as a producer lmao And cannot wait to see if they really are worth it 🙌🏽
Nice little video but I still have no idea how they are sonically different listening to your review🙂. Instead of saying made by 'craftmen and 'artisan approach , maybe you can compare them in terms of Hi , Mid, Bass and stereo image. If you can that would be great...
This is helpful feedback! It’s a hard line to walk since so much can be subjective. I agree though, I can do better here. Will try to cover more of the sound characteristics in my upcoming videos.
@@Jasper_Tech it would never be 100% accurate. Same goes for listening in a different environment, like a shop. That said, a ‘relative’ A-B-C-D comparison on the same piece of audio could be great advantage in addition to your even so great informative comparison. Thanks!
I have the kanto Ora, how do you know if the speaker is in standby mode ? Should I turn off the speaker everytime I'm done using or just leave it there? Thanks
I think the new Kanto REN that is coming out in November sounds like what you’re looking for. Will have HDMI ARC. Lookout for a review from me in the next month or so - working on getting my hands on one 🫡
What’s your use case? If you’re doing and sound mixing/editing, I think they’re amazing. If you’re just using them for casual listening, I’d skip the pro.
I don’t consider them monitors since they do not have a perfectly neutral frequency response, and they are more geared towards casual listening rather than sound production. Not a bad thing, just a difference in how they’re tuned: Link for those who are curious amzn.to/3C1BQRk
I have Dirac, Sonarworks and know what a room can do.....(and how impulse and eq correction does magic) that being said the Iloud are not really affected by the room the are ment to be used in close range (closer than nearfield). They work great and you don't need to push them far to be loud although you need to keep them in close range. I would use correction (on the pro's if I would upgrade) learn the sound and be fine. The old Ilouid micro had bluetooth as well which can be nice for phone kinda suprised the pro's do not feature bluetooth anymore...
Shame about the iloud pros being bigger. I have limited room on my desk. Also it would have been nice to use the USBc and use them as PC speakers when I am not doing music.
Agreed! I wanted to include them, but was not able to get them in time and do the necessary testing, so here we are. I’ll be including them in an upcoming video!
very good choice ( the only one i ee missing is the Kali Audio LP-UNF), as they all have dsp, does any of these have fletcher munson loudness compensation ? will you do a video on how to complement these small monitor with a subwoofer (choose size, placement, crossover ...) ?
Thanks for the comment! I will be including them in an upcoming video. I don’t believe any of them do have FM loudness compensation. I’ll be doing another video on a broader set of studio monitors soonish! Stay tuned!
Hi, a layman's question. For the Kanto Ora: in terms of sound quality is the USB-C -> USB or USB-C -> 3.5 aux jack configuration preferable? I'll buy an iMac M4. Thanks a lot!
I prefer to connect the ORA to my Mac Studio via a USB-C cable (both ends are USB-C). The benefit of this over 3.5mm is that the audio signal is always digital, so it never has the opportunity to get any type of cable interference/noise/whine.
@@Jasper_Tech Thank you very much. I'm a little confused though, aren't USB C USB C cables usually meant for charging devices? To connect the Ora to an iMac do I need a particular USB C-C type/model?
Do the Kanto Oras need to be further from a wall because they're rear ported? I would want to use them on my desk but I'm in the corner of an untreated room. Thanks!
Kanto suggests a minimum of 8” from the wall. I sometimes have less and don’t have much an issue with the rear ports, but it’s really hard to say if you’ll the same experience.
Thanks for the comment. The reason why Bluetooth is not here is that these are two separated independent speakers, so you can’t have a single Bluetooth device listed on an host.
lovely but there is a YAMAHA little speaker as well, am not saying you should buy them all just to compare for us to see, but at least they are very popular and first time yamaha makers of legendary ns 10 doing small studio speakers. THANKS
You need to mention price and weight. This took 15 minutes of my life that I will never get back and I still don’t know some of the most important things to know when buying portable speakers for travel.
@@Jasper_Tech Don't worry, and personally, I don't want to hear the size and weight. These are things easily obtainable on a spec sheet. It would make no sense to rifle off everything off the spec sheet for every speaker in a video.
I know I know.. I wanted to include them, but sadly was not able to get them and test them before recording this. I’ll be including them in a future video! Thanks for helping to keep me honest and accurate. 🙏
Pro tip : don't put something brighter than your subject on your shot, its not aesthetic and it can distract :) (also it will clip and it may trigger you if you do editing) though It's not very noticeable but just to help you

I am listening to you on my 3yr. old Vanatoo T-0,s. I love these little guys. My home studio Focale SM-9 mixes, translate amazingly well on them. Nice presentation Jasper Tech.
Thanks for the video . The iloudpro, can you use them without the external audio card
Yes! Provided you have the right cables to hook everything up
is it possible to compare the mtm mk2 vs micro pro, with and without dsp? would also love to know how the mtm mk2 compares to similar driver size/form factor monitors (like the a3x, SC203, Eris3.5, MR4, kali etc) paired with the arc studio dsp box - i feel like these cheaper monitors paired with that box comes to similar prices to the mtm mk2, wondering that may be the best value for performance
I’m working on a new video that has included more options/form factors. Will do my best to cover all this - thanks for the comment!
I am currently using the SC203 and they are really good ...only bigger speaker can beat them and maybe the G Two / 8020 but they also have less functionality
...also looking forward to such a comparrison (I think it doesn't exist yet)
Are the Kanto Oras good enough for home studio use e.g. recording guitar covers and mixing original songs? I do a lot of media consumption as well so I feel like the Kantos are a good option for me, but I don't want to get them if they'll limit my mixes.
i got the original iLoud, pretty good and fun mini monitors, i was thinking on check the KRK 3s and 4s
Wait, the original ilouds had 4 amps too, no?
Where did I read that over and over again?
kali LP-UNF?
😮 awesome!!! But dayum now u need to make another video including the new Adam D3V 😏😂
Ha. I know 😅
Keep your eyes peeled 👍👍
@@Jasper_Tech hahahaaa 🤣🤌🏽 you bet 🙌🏽 because now i’m hesitating 😂😂
My left speaker died on me lol I’m looking to either replace it or buy a new set of speakers! That’s why now with the new Adams, I put every previous choices on the side and I’m starting to go towards Adam AS FVCK!!! 😂
@@Jasper_Tech But I need more data.. 😎
@705tv ha. Brutal you’re playing the waiting game. I love my ORA speakers, but I have to say that rhe DV3 look REALLY good on paper. Very excited to try them out.
@@Jasper_Tech lol yeah I’m very patient... I’m producing music in mono since 😂 but if they sounds good when I’ll get my left side, it means I’m fire as a producer lmao
And cannot wait to see if they really are worth it 🙌🏽
Nice little video but I still have no idea how they are sonically different listening to your review🙂.
Thanks!
Dude now I want the Oras in white... hahahaha
Great video!
I have the kanto Ora, how do you know if the speaker is in standby mode ? Should I turn off the speaker everytime I'm done using or just leave it there? Thanks
Will the Ora4 (coming soon) be good as TV speakers? Not sure about connectivity and convenience
I think the new Kanto REN that is coming out in November sounds like what you’re looking for. Will have HDMI ARC. Lookout for a review from me in the next month or so - working on getting my hands on one 🫡
@@Jasper_Tech uhhh looking forward to your review on the REN
From your judgment, iLoud micro mon vs micro mon pro. Do you think the pro is worth the price?
What’s your use case? If you’re doing and sound mixing/editing, I think they’re amazing. If you’re just using them for casual listening, I’d skip the pro.
@ i’ll be using it for monitoring/mixing guitar cover most likely.
If you can afford the pro, I’d go for it. They’re really impressive. 👍
I saw another one of your videos regarding the KEF LSX II LT would you consider those small studio monitors and who would you recommend the kefs for?
I don’t consider them monitors since they do not have a perfectly neutral frequency response, and they are more geared towards casual listening rather than sound production. Not a bad thing, just a difference in how they’re tuned:

Adam Audio just put out an affordable pair of desktop monitors that just blew these all out of the water!
Will check them out!
No kef lsx ?
Shame about the iloud pros being bigger. I have limited room on my desk. Also it would have been nice to use the USBc and use them as PC speakers when I am not doing music.
How does it compare with the MTM MKII ??
I’m trying to get my hands on the MTM MKii to do a comparison. Stay tuned!
Genelec 8010s are missing from this comparison.
Agreed! I wanted to include them, but was not able to get them in time and do the necessary testing, so here we are. I’ll be including them in an upcoming video!
@@Jasper_Tech Great to hear ...but I would get the 8020 or G Two (Consumer line) ...still super compact but mach better base because of bigger woover
very good choice ( the only one i ee missing is the Kali Audio LP-UNF), as they all have dsp, does any of these have fletcher munson loudness compensation ? will you do a video on how to complement these small monitor with a subwoofer (choose size, placement, crossover ...) ?
Thanks for the comment! I will be including them in an upcoming video. I don’t believe any of them do have FM loudness compensation.
I’ll be doing another video on a broader set of studio monitors soonish! Stay tuned!
KRK Go Aux 4 not included?
I have not tried them yet; will look to test them in the future.
I sometimes have less and don’t have much an issue with the rear ports, but it’s really hard to say if you’ll the same experience.
please add adam D3V
I use and love the original iLoud.
It’s a shame the new “Pro” iLoud doesn’t have Bluetooth.
Still, I’m tempted by the “Pro” version.
Agreed - was a bummer to see the Bluetooth taken out.
Thanks for the comment. The reason why Bluetooth is not here is that these are two separated independent speakers, so you can’t have a single Bluetooth device listed on an host.
@@ikmultimedia thanks for clarifying the “why” to that move.
If price isn't the problem - get the Neumanns KH80 or Genelecs 8010, for budget constrained - Kali LP UNF
Thanks for this comment! I’m going to be making a new video in the next few months, and I’ll be sure to include / mention these options 👍👍
You're not trash😂❤
lovely but there is a YAMAHA little speaker as well, am not saying you should buy them all just to compare for us to see, but at least they are very popular and first time yamaha makers of legendary ns 10 doing small studio speakers.
THANKS
Rokit v4 with sub work great for me
Liked and subscribed.
Thank you for your support!
And now there are the Adam Audio d3v coming…..
You need to mention price and weight. This took 15 minutes of my life that I will never get back and I still don’t know some of the most important things to know when buying portable speakers for travel.
Oh no! So sorry about this. Will work to do better next time. Thanks for the actionable feedback.
@@Jasper_Tech Don't worry, and personally, I don't want to hear the size and weight. These are things easily obtainable on a spec sheet. It would make no sense to rifle off everything off the spec sheet for every speaker in a video.
No Eve?
Very Nice ! ! ! !
Not sure you can have a conversation about the 'best' such monitor without including the Genelec 8010A...
I know I know.. I wanted to include them, but sadly was not able to get them and test them before recording this. I’ll be including them in a future video! Thanks for helping to keep me honest and accurate. 🙏
Pro tip : don't put something brighter than your subject on your shot, its not aesthetic and it can distract :) (also it will clip and it may trigger you if you do editing) though It's not very noticeable but just to help you
Thanks for the tip - I’m very much still learning. Just to make sure I’m understanding; are you referring to the lamp in the background?
