      I don't use anything on my mix bus. I mix down best as I can and do a render of that mix. Then I drag that master into a new project and shove it through Abbey Roads and try not to over cook things. Plug-ins are boring.

      During mixing: Waves WLM Plus loudness meter because it has the true peak metering and also the true peak limiter, and the last plugin is the Waves PAZ Analyzer, and maybe, just maybe a compressor with a ratio of max ≈ 1.5..maybe…. During finalizing (or mastering)…eh, well that’s a story for another day or video, haha… I believe in keeping the mix master bus as clean as
      possible during mixing. That is also one way to force your self to really learn more about mixing because it is better to do the hard work of mixing instead of for example putting a too hard working compressor on the mix master bus to ”fix” it all. This will often sound ”flat”. This is the sound of Synthesizers with everything in them with ready to play programs that has drums, bass, guitars, synths etc. It will sound great in the music store as a demo, and also for musicians that perform them selves in pubs etc, but it will not sound professional as a song track just because of the ”flat” sound it has. Well, that’s what I think. Thank you Warren for a great demo video.

    I’ve been using God Particle on every mix since I demoed it and then bought it. In some cases I have used it to “remaster” something where I liked the mix. Here are my hints - first, your input is super important. You need to keep your level in the green most of the time, peaking close to 0. In order to achieve both level and a consistent peak, you really start to look at using clippers and limiters on the way in. Controlling your transients is really important so you get that nice consistent level yet not clip the input. Clip what you need to clip first. I also find that I like an EQ before God Particle to shape things a little. If you are doing a bunch of large EQ moves at this stage then go fix it a track/bus level. Keep your EQ moves light on the master bus. Then once in GP you fine tune using its EQ, if needed. The limiter does sound good and works well, but I have found that it is really not true peak so you need to meter it afterwards and make adjustments. You also will want to employ dithering if changing bit rates in your bounce. If you don’t want to use the GP limiter, I have used Sonible smart:limit or Ozone 10 advanced maximizer to bring a little more control to the bounce. Hope this helps someone out there.

    • @thesaint7380
      @thesaint7380 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you, helped me ! A clipper before GP is interesting, will try that. I also leave the GP limiter out, it's a bit too "fat" for me, prefer FAB L2 or Weiss, will have a look at smartlimit 👍

    • @kshep39
      @kshep39 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@thesaint7380 you’re welcome. Ideally you’ll clip transient heavy tracks/busses rather than just a clipper in the master bus before GP.. but no rules. If you do use a clipper before GP on the master, try using one that has some options like soft clipping (think of a knee in a compressor). O10 actually just added a soft clipper to their maximizer module just to give you an idea. Best wishes and luck

    Ignore the haters, the plugin sounds great - I've used it a lot. I disable the limiter and manually do that later. Don't always use default settings. Set your mix to 0% and push it until you have the sound you want. Sometimes that might only be 25%, sometimes it might be 125%. If you do enable the limiter, you'll get some distortion if you push the mix too high - so keep that in mind. Ignore the highs meter - you'll rarely hit it. It's not important.

    Been using it for a few months- love it! It's one of my go to tools in the master bus. I find that if you use it alongside izotope's tonal balance control you can get a mix that is perfect just with these two. Then I will bounce a mix and open a mastering track with Izotope 10 and I'm usually very happy with it. I also use it to re-master old 2 track mixes. I will open a new Master project (I use DP but they are basically all he same, no??) then I will have a master track and a stereo track with the old mix. I slap God on the stereo track mix and play around with it 'til it sounds pretty good. On the master bus I will put Izotope 10 and master to taste, of course using master balance control to get within the ball part. Works wonder for me on an old mix. things just sound so much better with the God Particle, makes my mixes come alive!

    I like the idea of plugins having an indication of optimal input level. While I find presets to be useful starting points, the target input level has always been an ambiguous element when compression or saturation is part of the plugin recipe. I wonder what a mastering engineer thinks about getting mixes with so much 2bus treatment baked in. I use m/s processing on elements sometimes but it's not something I use across an entire mix.

    Hello !
    in fact, I have the impression that it is a tool to boost three different parts of the Master, which can be complementary to some tools in our chain, but it is already possible to reproduce this chain without this tool. After if he pleases and renders service, that's all we ask of him but for my part, I find it just satisfactory by its animation and its evocative name.

    I think their marketing confuses a lot of people. I’ve seen a lot of comments on FB that this is some mastering tool. It’s not. You mix into it, so it’s in a way what I like to think of as a “pre-master” plugin. Man, I love it! Imagine it as just a big console your mix is going through with some very fresh targets to aim for. Once I get the mix roughly done, I finish the mastering with some high quality compression, EQ, and maximiser plugins to get that final sheen and make it more “mine”. This plugin follows the trend of the blur happening now between mixing and mastering. I hope the strict artificial divide between mastering and mixing collapses, and the mixer finishes also the master - it’s time to stop dividing that up between two people, and just let one artist pull everything together and make it shine - God Particle is a great step in that direction and reflects Joshua’s philosophy of taking more control over the mix.

    My worry is that this reminded me of a wet Tuesday afternoon in KGM West in Salford when the first BBE Sonic Maximiser arrived. It seemed to make everything more everything, a true magic button, it brightened up a very grey day. To the point where everything sounded bad without it. With persistent use it began to get on my nerves, making everything sound a bit, well, a bit FM radio. This looks to be more subtle and to have more variables to play with so I'm sure it's not going to work out the same. But hearing the bypass to processed switch I was reminded of that afternoon on the Man United side of the City, a very dark and foreboding place for us blues in those years.

    It’s cool to see so many different experiences. This is how I’m using it. I don’t! Well not on my final mix, I use it as a tool and it helps me to keep my ear in check. I’ve found that once I strip it of and master the track myself I’m doing a lot less on the master. Once you spend some time with it you can figure out what it’s doing. However what it excels at is a fast chain on the master. Probably one of the most useful tools live seen released for sometime.
    You can use it like a second engineers opinion, a stereo bus chain or as a quick mastering plugin! How cool to have so much in a plugin.

    Hello, folks! I have to tell you this plugin doesn't mess up your mixing style. There are some rumors around this plugin, but you won't sound like Jaycen because you mix it into the same sauce. It will still disclose your personal touch. How this plugin glue and open up your mix depends on how the sources hit and how you tweak the mix bus. Your personal signature will remain, but you will hear the potential of your mix in real-time. How much of the sauce you want to use is up to you, and you can use it only as a reference. You can also use it on a parallel mix bus, e.g., for the low end. This plugin has been a time saver the last weeks for me. Try it out. It's free for five days.

      I recently did something kind of weird. I bounced the left and right channels to cassette. I did 2 passes, where the tape deck was distorting and one where it was hissy but clean. Then I mixed them. I mean, nobody else may get it but I think it sounds so cool. The surprising thing was how the tape cassette compression tamed the low end of the track.

    The limiter is very nicely program dependent. The snare is limited so gracefully by the multi bands, it almost seems untouched. There’s a lot going on with upward compression and it’s done with great choices for the music re the bands. I’m liking it way more than I want to.

    I bought it. And I am extensively trying on my master bus. I understand that the eq is centered around 150Hz for the low end, 650Hz for the mids, and 10K for the highs, with a gentle slope. There is around 2% harmonic distortion at 200% and a little at 50%, mainly on the bass side, from 100Hz down, and An Harmonic distortion spike at 10K. The limiter is flat and works as expected. When you insert the plugin with the default settings, you get a 7dB boost with a slight frequency response coloration. To a fair comparison, lowering the output by 7dB is a good idea. It injects the frequency and harmonic distortion of an SSL J mix bus, which was the expected effect. But the 7dB boost can be deceiving. Excellent display, though :)
    It can be a quick way to have some basic control of the master-bus.

But halfway through I had to go and buy it. Then after inserting TGP on my latest track and tweaking for 10-15 mins, I am 100% convinced I will be using this on EVERY track from now on...

    Awesome plugin and actually does a great job adding a slight bit of magic to an already great mixdown. However, I think using it at 100 percent is complete overkill for any mixdown, and I feel you should never mix with it on. Use it as a final chain placement after your limiter, is what I found sounded best and most natural sounding. if you have to use it at 100%, then something may be wrong in your mixdown. My opinion on the limiter, I don't think I'll ever use the limiter, as I feel it is inferior to Fabfilter Pro L2 or Plugin Alliance BX Limiter True Peak. Although, for a hundred dollars the plugin is well worth every penny even without the limiter. It does add a touch of magic and does wonders polishing vocals.

    This plugin is interesting and probably a really good one, but when you are a person who want to control every little thing that happens, and also know what the plugin is doing, then it may be less satisfying. It kind of feels like these types of plugins will make it "ok" to use sound altering plugins/compression/methods on the mix master bus, and thereby taking away the so important mixing part, especially for beginners who wants to learn more regarding mixing. However, I am sure this plugin will be very interesting to many, many mixers and probably very much used by beginners that will "feel" that "wow" what a great mix i have achieved.. Thanks for a great video and I hope this plugin will be successful.

    I am intrigued and can’t help but try to imagine what is going on.
    I’d love to know what frequencies are used in the crossover which can’t be hard to determine.
    So I would like to see what everyone else thinks is happening under the hood. Here’s my guess.
    First looks like a full bandwidth compressor on the input.
    Jaycen describes the eq section and potentially renaming it to push pull which suggests that it is actually post crossover Gain into compression rather than eq. The sound of the low end suggests fast release time compression and also sounds like soft knee compression so I am guessing a high ratio but big round knee. The midrange sounds almost like a mid side split, and slightly defined or early reflections and some kind of saturation/harmonic series adjustment similar to what happens in Melodyne Studio spectral balancing. Only on the sides Maybe then mid and sides re united. High band may be something similar to mids but doesn’t sound like the same detune/ reflections but a lot of widening and more mid/ side balancing.

      I put a ssl-style buss compressor before it on the master buss with some very light compression and then add the GP after it with the default settings (yes I leave the limiter on at the default setting). I just make sure that the input to the GP is hitting the 'green zone' amd then mix into it. I lower the output to leave some headroom for mastering. Works brilliantly for me...

    Well, this looks like a really nice plug-in. What I like about it is that it doesn't look too complicated. I've being using Abbey Roads Mastering for a while now, and honestly, I've just being (I've being not using 'been, 'being and 'bin correctly for quite awhile also) scrolling through the presets til I found something I like, feeding my mix into the plug in and then backing it way off when it starts to feel overcooked. There is no way I'm a mastering engineer so I would probably use this plug in in a similar fashion. Really good job on the plug-in Jaycen Joshua. Looks like it would be a really good hammer to my nail. But, on my mix buss ...? I'd be afraid to use it while mixing because I'd be afraid of it making things sound too nice and that I'd miss something that I should be attending to. I'd like to hear anybodies thoughts on that.

    • @deadislander
      @deadislander ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually hear things better with the plugin enabled right off the bat. Its especially easier to dial in reverbs because you already know what the mid side separation are doing to the track. Think of it like a bigger canvas. So when you think you got a good mix, try making it even nicer and suddenly you got a track that's larger than life to what you would otherwise have had. Think of it like mixing into a console. Just a bigger canvas, so be aware of the fact things sounds nicer all of the sudden but stick with it when it comes to eq comp and saturation. Don't skip a single step you feel you could do without just because the particle is on. Try pushing the envelope a bit harder. After a mix or two you get used to how it all sounds and you don't really wanna mix without it.

      @@deadislander Oh dear. Yep, sounds a lot like good old cocaine. I'll leave you to yours but as for myself, I'd better stay away from 'the good stuff' til I'm done all my critical work.

  • @DizzyDocc369
    @DizzyDocc369 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Its almost like its being able to dial in like 100% as to where doin it by hand there always that just tiny area that you either cant hit or that you cant actually reach due to a way a knob turns or to not being able to use a mouse steady enough to get it down to that 100% instead of normally only being able to get it to 99.7%.
    Hope this makes sense to people........
