I just had the stark idea. 15 years ago I divorced after 26 years of marriage. If you put all the good days together there would be about 5 years. I'm fortunate to be alive but I know Heavenly Father had a great plan for me. With all I went through I learned compassion and the importance of being heard and cared about. For the last 14 years I have been a caregiver for seniors and I know I was prepared for this and there is no way I could have helped all the people that I have if I were still married and/or dead. I don't believe He planned for all the bad things to happen but He did plan for me to overcome and then help others with what they can not do for themselves.

It took me 33yrs to divorce, I tried so very hard. I realize now. All those times I was praying for a fix to something that could never happen, Heavenly Father was just patiently waiting on me to finally get the message. ♥
I have read the Book of Mormon many times and honestly not as often as I should. This year and we all know it’s only early February, I have already gained more insights and seen God’s tender mercies in my life than in any reading of this Book before. It is because of you David and you Grace!

You guys are Awesome and I am still so struck by this thought that I have been having so much lately that you just put it in the most clear way...24:43 "It is easy to walk away if you don't know Him." THAT is a Profound Truth! I think it is one of the Adversary's biggest tactics...prevent people from knowing Him and if they once knew Him make them forget Who He is and that they could ever return to Him. He is...Our Brother, Our Friend, Our Savior, Our All. He is THE Way. His Goodness transcends all... He Truly is more for us than we can ever imagine. His Love is Greater, His Grace Wider, His Patience Longer, His Redemption Stronger , His promises truer than we can imagine. He so wants us to Stay with Him. Thank you for following through with the spirit and sharing that profound reminder...
What a beautiful expression of Him
As a convert as an adult (29 now 71) I have never experienced this. But it sounds amazing. All of our Children and Grandchildren are inactive. I so pray for these experiences.

My dad was 93 when he passed. I was thankful for every circle he stood in, and word he said.
I have wondered and wished that I could walk where Jesus walked and witness his goodness. 2 Nephi 2:4 has brought new understanding to me. Because I grew up in the gospel I used to feel like I’ve been working all my life like the ones in the vineyard who toiled many years, and in the wrapping scenes didn’t understand how those who just came in the last hour were rewarded with the same reward. Yet because I am living in the latter days, I am actually the one coming in at the last hour, and getting the same reward as those who have gone before me. The beauty is that the reward is all that the father hath. All his goodness and glory, as if I were there walking with him. He is a God of infinite goodness, and too good to be true - and yet He is.
I Love how you’re using physical scriptures and not looking at your phone or a tablet. Thanks for all your hard work! Love you guys❤️❤️💕💕

David, I think every parent who has sent an oldest child off into a mission is feeling your tender heart right now. For me it was 22 years ago, but the memory is still tender. What a tender mercy for you that you got to share the scripture that inspired your own decision to serve a mission. That’s a lot of tender.

2 nephi 1: 15 is my favorite scripture right now. It speaks to me like none other. It's about unconditional love for all of us. No matter where we are in life

This lesson was absolutely powerful. David your testimony of your Savior and what your son is doing to share the gospel, is amazing. I love how both of you internalize your lessons. It makes it so much more powerful for us! Fantastic lesson:))
Grace, that reminder in minute 17:00 of “when I feel like walking away from Christ” I need to remember who it is I’m walking away from. He is MY redeemer, my rescuer, a friend of infinite goodness. He is the one pleading “Please stay, please use my atonement to change your heart, to heal.”
And David’s “Go one step up; who did these blessings come from?” Reminds me of my favorite knock knock joke: “Knock, knock. Who’s there? To. To who? Um…it’s actually ‘to whom’.”

As I’m writing my notes, my journal, I did exactly what you (Grace) mentioned,, I made a list of those friends and adding that note “I’ve gotten to know Jesus better because of your friendship”, and sending them a Valentine card.
I love the idea of Valentine’s Day cards as a grown-up. No I want to send notes to my friends and tell them I love you… I can’t wait :-)

This segment was super emotional for me, this past year my dad passed away at 94. And to witness him transitioning from this life to the next, was truly beautiful to witness. He gave special gifts to us, He tried to speak, but his voice was so soft that I couldn’t hear what he was saying to me, but my heart felt his meaning. And I feel he blessed our family with his best, I can help but connect that to Heavenly Father and what he wants for us too. There is a song that I played for our family the night that we closed his casket. By Chris Tomlin “Good good father” it has a dual meaning for me. And it might for you too.

A quote that I’ve always liked, goes along with Grace’s story on her mission. “The sorrows will out number the joys, but the joys will out weigh the sorrows.”

Perhaps there is an additional message in going back three times. I believe it teaches a message about obtaining the "Word of God/Brass Plates". Laman made the first attempt. I wonder if we can obtain the "word of God" when we are rebellious, The second attempt was to buy the "word of God" with the riches they had left. Can you purchase the "Word of God"? The only way that they were able to obtain the Word of God was when Nephi was led by the Spirit. Laban had the "Word of God", but was not longer righteous and ended up suffering death. I wonder if there is an allegory in the story of obtaining the brass plates.

When you were talking about Nephi and Lehi being in the Promised Land and reflecting that it was God who got them there, I had a small glimpse of what it will be like as we get to the Second Coming and reflect that God did this. Mercies of the Lord! Amazing!

Hello and thank you for lifting me in my funk. Two thoughts came to me as I read the introduction to the Second Book of Nephi. It is a record is Nephi’s dealings in his wilderness and the First Book of Nephi is about Lehi’s wilderness. Also on the subject of redemption, Christ redeemed us before the world was. It sort of was the condition of this world being created where the fall of man would occur. ❤

I was thinking about Adam and Eve. Maybe their time in the garden of eden was a time to provide memories of being cared for. They had no childhood or parents that loved them, cared for them, nurtured them, fed them, embraced them or taught them. But God provided the garden where all those things were available to them. ❤❤

What a great lesson, I love Joy!
Zoram was a true friend to Nephi and his family and that’s awesome, but also his wife as the oldest daughter of Ishmael. He was saved for her and she for him and I have to think that was another tender mercy for them both. I would love to know her story. But we know as much as Nephi needed Zoram, so did she.

Loved all of this! I was especially struck by the parts about Zoram and Jacob. I wonder how old Jacob was, and who wrote all of this down. Was it Lehi, so that Jacob would always be able to refer back to it? Or Jacob, because he recognized how precious his father’s words were and wanted to preserve them? These are the questions that really bring the scriptures to life, and you two are so good at inspiring them! Thank you!
I wish there were "tip ins" that could be cut and pasted for those who use electronic scriptures--we could add/attach them as "notes" at the chapter headers.
1:05:00 (ish) stating that God’s plan has had good and bad from the beginning and referencing Adam and Eve. The thought that came to me: go back even further: The War in Heaven. We were there as spirits and SAW the opposition. We witnessed the Good and the evil. And because we are here as spirit children with bodies, we chose that Good part. Our very eyes beheld Good and bad before we ever came here to live lives full of both the good and the bad.

I just had the thought that it would AWESOME to have transcripts of these podcasts. There is so much here that would be great to share in a readable format! I want to start sharing these thoughts on a blog I created, but I wonder if it would be better to have it all under your own brand “Don’t Miss This”. Anyone at Don’t Miss This team ever considered creating transcripts of these great lessons?
I think we could say that as long as we choose Jesus, we are redeemed in past tense.

I truly love your podcast and have the app and all the things. You are doing something very special. May I gently suggest that it may not be wise or helpful to diagnose people in the scriptures with mental health conditions? Even licensed professionals would hesistate. I was very uncomfortable with hearing that Jacob "had anxiety." In addition to simply being impossible to diagnose that from the record, it's also becoming more and more more evident from the research being done right now that frequent discouussion of anxiety and depression in social media is actually increasing it, especially in teens. (If you want a brief overview, "The Atlantic" published a good summary recently). I'm sure it comes from a good place, yet sometimes things that seem helpful can be harmful. I hope you'll take this suggestion in the spirit in which I offer it, which is respectful kindsness.

Lehi had his calling and election made sure. That is why he can say that he is redeemed. The other people in the Book of Mormon who say this are telling you the same thing. They have been sealed up unto salvation and entered into the rest of the Lord in this life. There are many references to this in the Book of Mormon. We can also have this great blessing if we seek it, but it is not often taught, and therefore, it is not often sought. (Mosiah 27:24-29; D&C 131:5; Ether 3:13,14; Alma 5:6-9)
