Lots of stretches like the assumption they landed in the Mayan culture but speculating is fun.
8000 b.c.? the most generous timeline is 2000 b.c. with their peek 200-900 a.d. excellent insights, the stick analogy was wonderful
In THE MAYA by Michael D. Coe, he discusses that radiocarbon dates back to 8760 BC in the Guatemalan highland (p. 44). In general, the archaic period was 8000-1800 BC. then Early Preclassic 1800-1000 BC, and so on.
