    Man, the world lost a rare talent when Danny checked out on his own. A terrible, tragic loss.

    Amazing player. Danny’s playing just makes me smile, he was just something else. When he plays mystery train, and makes it sound like it’s got echo on it.... Sheer talent. It sounds just like the record.

    "I'm not busting my hands and doing this anymore".
    What a fateful decision for the music world, as he decided to leave the trades.
    Got to meet him (and I'm in the trades), so this comment really caught my ear...
    Thanks for posting this.

    Danny saying Roy Buchanon's piano player playing like Oscar Peterson was something I never knew. Roy Buchanon and Danny Gatton two unbelievable guitar players and telly masters, both with the titles of the " Best Unknown Guitarist" ...Well, they are known to guitarists. They both supposedly committed suicide. Very strange and sad. But their music still lives on.

      Danny Gatton could certainly play anything, and like Les Paul said, Danny’s gonna do it better than anyone. The Humbler. Chet was great, a true icon, but even he said more than once, that Jerry Reed was actually better than he was. Jerry horsed around so much with humorous songs and acting, it makes one wonder how good he would have been, had he focused on picking.

    That is so great! I've never heard an interview with him before and it was fascinating as you might suspect. When he starts talking about Oscar Peterson and Dvorak (!) in the same conversation, you KNOW he's something special! So special that the great Adam Lopez has a tattoo of Danny's face on his forearm. Love you Adam..you are a badass player as well my friend.

    interesting to hear Danny reminisce about cutting up his fingers and hitting them with hammers in the course of his trade work, because if memory serves me correctly Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath was missing the tips of two fingers on his fretting hand because he cut them off by accident in a sheet metal shop where he worked. Tony actually fastened some kind of metal and leather replacement fingertips so that he could have use of all of his chording fingers. Not that Tony Iommi and Danny Gatton were in the same league as guitar players, of course! And I assume most of you all know that Django Reinhardt only had two working fingers on his left (fretting) hand because of a fire in the Gypsy camp.....sorry, I should probably say Roma Camp instead, Gypsy being considered rather derogative these days....

    • @enlightenedchristian3183
      @enlightenedchristian3183 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Imagine if Django had switched to left handed....or Iommi to right handed...Iommi said if he'd been older he'd have switched ( like its that ezi)..
      Danny Gatton was just beyond the greatest but as thay say "genius has it's price"...
