SPTA makes some VERY solid polishers and probably provide the most accessories of any company along with that nice case. I love my SPTA 5 inch long throw cordless DA polisher. It runs very smooth and has a lot of power. A lot of people go right for Flex or Rupes because of their strong following in the detailing community, but a value minded detailer or enthusiast could do just as well polishing with the SPTA 5 inch cordless DA along with one of these mini polishers and you'd have just about all the polishing equipment you would need to complete a very nice cut and/or polish on a vehicle. They are a perfect choice for a weekend warrior or detailing enthusiast.
I agree, the value for performance is unbeatable for these cordless machines.
That's what I love about the new one so far, it's a torquey boy and takes a bit of effort to actually get it to stall out. I don't just mean for a cordless Chinese brand machine, I mean in general it's hard to get it to stall out if you have even a decent bit of experience and technique.
It's a beast!
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa seriously the first thing I worked on with it was a pair of headlights with a small concave section and I was dreading it, then walked away way quicker than I expected and suddenly realized it didn't stall a single time.
@@muchachogrande2019 so I saw from maxshine china they have a version 2 of their mini polisher and it looks suspiciously similar to this one
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa I've been seeing a lot more of their stuff pop up rebranded everywhere. Their battery pump sprayer is rebranded by bigboi, and I don't know for sure but I've always noticed that the Shine Mate line of cordless polishers has a very strong resemblance to the SPTA line.
At this point I really wish they'd make a bigger push towards marketing their own brand so less people would be tricked into paying double the price for the same thing from some other brand.
@@muchachogrande2019 yea they've gotta be the manufacturer for a lot of brands at this point. I think it's just harder for them to get a lot of thinks overseas without a brand ambassador to import it all.
Great video, thanks for making.
Wow I’m really sold on the new cordless mini now haha.
I have a 2025 suv and my side mirror got some scratches from a next car hitting my side mirror with they side mirror what buffing and pad and sauce I use to get it out I was going to use the mini spta
Great video, thank you! I’m still debating between this V2 and the Max Shine but unless you own stock in the other company, who cares if the Max Shine is a copy or copied by someone? Also, technically all of these are copies in a sense of the Rupes.
Very good, but concerning the foam pads, I prefer the beveled edge of the first version!. Otherwise really good this new version! 👍 👍 👍
(old version = rotary or 9mm throw)
As do I. Thankfully, you can buy some lake country or buff and shine pads of the appropriate size and use those instead.
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa Ok thanks friend. Strangely for me the old version does not stall as fast as yours even with the biggest backing plate!. The new one seems more powerful but the much thinner pads must play a role too, there must be less power dispersion, what do you think?
I remember a meguiar's article which said to have increased the power of the DA thanks to the very thin pads. But the new SPTA must still be a little more powerful. What does the battery power figure look like? THANKS
@@nicorallysport battery power is the same as the previous version, takes the same exact batteries. I can say that after recording this I did take a large 3 inch buff and shine pad that is beveled and has a 4 inch face and polished some paint with it and there was no slowing down, so it can handle larger pads with ease. I honestly don't think I will be using the thin pads that it came with much if at all.
How has this been holding up? Looks like a lot of the recent amazon reviews are absolutely trashing it. Batteries not working, unit dies quickly etc.
So far so good! I can get how something mass produced can have units with issues but mine has been good.
Looks IMPRESSIVE! So glad they went to a 12mm throw AND rotary. I have version 1 and I don’t think it’s supposed to be used as a rotary. Mine cuts out, too. This new version looks to be an outstanding value.
I don’t think is a version 2. 2 different design. The older one is meant to be like the rupes ibrd nano.
What would you call it?
W Video. Might have to cop that polisher soon
Definitely worth it.
Pretty decent mini polisher! I have their rotary with the flex extension. This would be much easier to use.
I love that flex shaft for door handles, used to come with a butt load of pads. This is great in that it can also handle 3 inch pads so replacing another corded machine!
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa Not long before battery power could potentially take over!
@@ddautodetailing just about there for most jobs honestly. so convenient.
Where do you get the flex extension?
@@ad_182_uk amzn.to/3ycE3UO
I just got one for my bday, its a nice tool i must say, bit the 3mm DA attachment stops at the slightest pressure , even minimal🤔
I don't even bother with the 3mm honestly. Rotary or 12mm is the way to go
Yeah kinda useless anyway just tought about it😁 Do you still use yours?
@@marleek5573 yes indeed I use it regularly
I think the 3mm is for special occasions rather that actual correction(dry/wet sanding where you want minimal throw)
Would this be a good first unit to purchase for doing motorcycles? I don't have a polisher and Im looking at this for an all in one unit, and because this one has 1, 2 and 3 inch plates plus 2 different DA throws (3 and 12). For doing bike tanks, fenders and side panels would you recommend this or should I go with the Maxshine M0312? This SPTA is going for 127 right now in kit form using a Amazon Prime deal!
SPTA is a good one. Maxshine basically the same thing with a digital display.
I have first versions of this polisher, and like you said, is not powerful enough. In your opinion, is it worth upgrading to the new version?
I don't want to lose money again 😉
Absolutely it is worth it. This new one is a beast. I was hesitant before as well but I am glad I got it.
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa
Could you do another test, (please, please) this time using 1&2 inches full size pads? not with the ones that come with the machine?
My polisher works great as a rotary, it doesn't cut off, but in DA stall very easily.
Before I spend money on spta again, I'd like to make sure the machine has enough power
@Kuba if it works great with 3 inch pads like you saw in the video it will definitely work with the smaller pads. This machine has plenty of power.
Id love to be able to attach some scotch brite pads to the machine... mainly for cleaning glass top stoves
Try some rayon pads
Cerama Bryte is your friend 😉
Still working well for you? Just pulled the trigger on one - Amazon has it now for $159 and $10 off coupon. I may try to get a Maxshine quick charger...its the same unit for around $100 less
Yes was just using it the other day
Has anyone used this for headlights?
I have. Works good to clear up oxidation. If your headlights are really bad though they may need to be sanded.
Did someone know why my polisher in the sceen start to flash when I try to start it up ? The batteries are 100% charged
Batteries could be completely dead and need replacement. If you haven't owned it that long, email and see if you can get replacements.
okay so I just bought this right. mine came with the 12mm counterweight already installed and i cannot for the life of me get it off. i’ve tried, my friends tried, even my boss tried and we can’t get it. please help😢
Try a big wrench
yeahhhh i tried that, no go
@@ReillyMagee-oq1mh return or exchange man idk what else you can do
I returned this for rupes mini but I will admit new apta has more power! I returned it because of very unpleasant grinding sound whenever I would use it.
That's good to know. These cheaper machines are a bit noisy but I already have tinnitus so it doesn't bother me much.
Mine has grinding sound as well. I wanted to replace grease inside just to find out that is not easy if not impossible to get to the gears. If anybody here knows how to get to the gears I would appreciate it.
I just got mine today with the steel neck and it has great power under pressure, I think the one you got is defective or the battery is drained
It's fine as dual action not so much as rotary. They also could have updated the internal motor since I bought mine.
I just got that polisher machine, the new one but the 3mm attachment is kind of weak, just a little pressure , almost nothing of pressure and it doesn’t rotate . Do you have that problem too?
I don't even bother with 3mm. It's really only there for sanding.
Do you feel these polishers are lot more versatile than the mini drill polishers
absolutely
Hi Martin, thanks for another great video! Quest, I just recently got SPTA's small cordless buffer/polisher that Phil from Miranda Detailing uses as a wax/sealant applicator. Both that one and this mini look like they use the same batteries. Do you by chance know if those batteries are the same and can be used in both?
I do not know for a fact but I don't see why they would suddenly start using a different battery, they tend to stay fairly consistent.
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa True, does appear they stay consistent. Thanks again!
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa So I pulled the trigger on this mini cordless polisher v2.0 with the recent Amazon lightning deal and I can confirm this and their small cordless polisher (buffer/waxer) do NOT use the same battery. The batteries are similar but not similar enough LOL Anyhow, thanks again - can't wait to try this out!
Thanks a lot for the review. Are the pads in the kit of v2 worth anything? they look so thin.
They're better than nothing. Def worth investing in some quality pads though.
I'm looking into something like this. I'd like to have cones to polish my gloss black wheels. I know Detail-Division makes them for the PXE-80, but I like that SPTA. Any recommendations for cone?
no velcro backed ones but spta does make a flexible extension shaft with little polishing cones that can connect to it
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa I'll look into that. Thanks
Which one have you been using more? I can't decide betwen them.
the newer one. dont even use the old one at all anymore.
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa I bought the 2.0 - love it!! Thanks
Do you have a video or link for the door handle extension you were talking about?
amzn.to/4bDyhOa
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa Thank you! The 70 dollar one set?
@@muffin70507 thats what I bought 4 years ago
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa Awesome, thank you for responses! Idk if I want to splurge for the 30 dollar one, I just hand polished the inside of the door handles. Probably not as efficient and more physical effort without them 😂
@@muffin70507 it's more for if you're doing it for money so you can get it done fast.
How is the polisher holding up after 6 months of using?
Still working just fine, though I don't use it every single day.
Weird question. I need one to polish CD cases and disks. Would rotary or DA be best for this?
My main worry is catching the pad on the edge of the disk.
I am not sure if this is an issue though.
Rotary or DA would work fine. Pad will be fine even if it goes over the edge.
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa Thanks for your help! Much appreciated.
Anybody know if (and how) we can get to the gears to swap out the grease?
It would be best to have an expert do it. I tried to oil mine with another brand of polisher but it was difficult and I damaged it.
@novavolks9652 I've done it before with no probs on a corded Bauer polisher. Just thot I'd ask if someone's done it before on this small polisher.
@@reyesmaria323 I think it is more difficult on these machines, they are smaller, I am just commenting from my experience, did this mini polisher work for you?
@novavolks9652 yeah huh, it's smaller so I didn't want to attempt it yet without asking 😅 It's worked out good for me but I'm no pro at all and I literally just used it on my B pillars so far. I'm slowly gaining more confidence in this whole polishing area of detailing.
Good sir, is there another compatible brand battery for this do you know?
Unfortunately none that have been confirmed. They are now selling them on their website however. Maxshine batteries also might fit but I'm not completely sure.
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa you rock at replies. I need a 12v ratchet so was going to try and keep the battery the same
How long does the battery last in ver. 2.0?
Have not tested it for longevity but I never use these for extended periods of time. 1 charged battery holds enough charge for me to finish a vehicle.
So I bought this and was happy with the polishing with the 2in but now I want to sand wood with the 3in but it won’t just spin because I’m stuck using the counter weight.
Any idea how to use the 3in on just spin?
You can remove the counter weight. There is a small punch you can align with the hole on the counter weight to lock it so you can unscrew it.
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa I bought the new one with the wrench.
The 3in wheel doesn’t turn into anything but the counterweight.
It has an larger shank
@@robertjohnson1246 I can remove the counter weight from both. The new one comes with 2 different counter weights.
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa I have no problem removing the counterweight.
The 3in pad ONLY screws into the counterweight though.
I want to use the 3in pad without the counterweight
@robertjohnson1246 oh yea thats right, you just jogged my brain to remember! I have not found an alternative to it.
have you used the autobrite/maxshine 80w machines? wondering how they comapre with this latest spta offering?
I have not, but I strongly suspect the Maxshine M0312 v2 is based off this SPTA machine as the controls and attachments are completely identical
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa interestingly though the V2 is still saying its an 80w motor on the maxshine website, not a 280w motor?
@@s1dew1nd3r4 weird
Im in the market for a smaller format polisher but I wasn’t sure if one of these could replace a normal 3in polisher. Seems like it’s definitely possible based on your review. I’m thinking either this one or the maxshine version. Have you had any experience with it?
Maxshine I haven't but it looks like overseas they made a version 2 that's a copy of this design
hallo!!
Are version 1 and version 2 batteries compatible?
Yes
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa thank you very much👍
This isn't really "2.0", it's just another polisher in their mini polishers. The original has two versions already, this is just a parallel product.
Suppose so
I have some questions to ask you about some other products, where can I contact you?
My Facebook page or my email. Can find them in the about section of my channel.
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa ok thanks, I just emailed you
Hey I also noticed you said they both take same battery. I tried and the old battery didn't fit the new one..
You may want to double check. I showed that it fits and works in this video. Unless you have a different model.
have u tried other manufacturers 3inch pads on this?
Yes they work fine
Thank you for the reply.
Do you think this could be a viable replacement for a 3 inch polisher given it comes with a 3 inch backing plate?
@@mifadj3835 it's pretty good for spot detailing g. Does not have the same power as my corded 3 inch polisher but does very well when I only need a small area done.
Hey man - how is this with 2in pad in rotary mode? Does it come to a standstill like the old one?
It can if you start to put pressure down. Doesn't stall out as easily though.
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa You would have to be leaning on it pretty heavy then? Just want to make sure it is still going do what it needs to do in terms of correction/gloss enhancing without being a PITA.
@ad_182_uk its been a great tool for me for the past year.
Looks like there is now a V3, seems the display and controls are a bit different and the battery is beefed up from 2 to 2.5, you seen it?
@@ad_182_uk yea I've been eyeballing it
Can you sand with this?
Yes
Mine came in the box with the eccentric wheel allready installed and i can not get it off. Never got to use it 1 time and alrady rusted together. Absolutely a waste life would not recommend buying
That's a bummer. Their QC is pretty hit and miss.
Only problem is it's made in China. 🙄
No US manufacturers of polishers sadly. Even if they are assembled here, parts were all still purchased from China.
GREED
Your iPhone and all your electronics is made in China as well
@Kveezy4GS yes, to bad everything is made in China.
The 3mm throw stalls like crazy on my SPTA V2 mini cordless. It def cuts in rotary but also stalls a little with the 12mm throw.
I don't even bother with the 3mm honestly, not sure why it's there. I do 12mm or rotary and yes I noticed it will stall if there is too much pressure applied.
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa Thanks for the reply. I wanted the 3mm for less heat and less correction than a rotary would produce in tight areas.
@@BrandonBone18 just have to use a light touch when it comes to that
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa Thanks
@@BelLavoroAutoSpalooked like you put a lot of pressure in 12mm mode and it didn’t stall. 🤷🏻♂️
