Philanthropist I have used in great effect several times in the past, especially paires with Choosen. Feeding opponents with negotiations means you will have a round were you win against them, cause all they might have in hands are negotiations.
I don't think that Human is a bad alien. But I think that its ability is incredibly boring (why is it even yellow alert?). Pratical, yes, but boring. So instead, I formed a set of 4 aliens that grow power during battles in one way or the other, with Human as one of them and the alien with the slowest growth, but most versatility. The others are perfectly fine imho. Philanthropist is even one of my favourite aliens.
