I recently heard a UK historian lament that Brits perform so little unpaid voluntary service. He recalled that as a child in the 1930s and '40s, his father, like so many in the Great Depression-era was out of work for long stretches but always kept very busy with mostly unpaid church and community projects. Your volunteer mentoring of Paul is what made me bring this up. Its so wonderful he found a deeply knowledgeable, sensible mentor who doesn't have a radical agenda of their own. It may not matter but I'll briefly mention that as a gay guy Ive always felt I had a strong female said. Now this doesn't mean Im not male. In my early 30s about 10 or 15 yrs ago the trans frenzy somewhat dominated the media while the pushback against it had yet to take root. All the hulaballo piqued my interest so I started wearing heavy makeup sometimes along with gender-neutral clothes. I looked so good in makeup btw ngl. Long story short at first it was really great, I felt more vital plus got more attention from guys and had fun for a few weeks. But I quickly realized its hollowness and that its not transformative and not a treatment for underlying mental health matters. Luckily I was an adult and didn't have a trans cultist telling me Ive only taken baby steps and promising that the real emotional transformation occurs with and after the surgery. Their message, that the trans journey is a process of gradually becoming your incredibly wonderful true self, is, as you know, incredibly seductive and appealing to troubled young people. This is part of what makes it so very dangerous. I still enjoy painting my nails from time to time. This won't be popular but IMO its super that high school guys can experiment with painting nails and even with makeup if they like. Without trans-positive radicals targeting them, the students experimenting would soon enough reach the same realizations and awareness that I did. What really depresses me is that these days visible experimentation with gender indicators, such as painted nails, makes them an easy, soft target-- not so much by bullies anymore but by trans-positive cultists at a time in their life when they are the most inexperienced and most vulnerable. As you said, gender indicators like painted nails are not gender and don't alter gender. It massively concerns me that young students can't creatively experiment with gender expression without putting a 🎯 on their backs. IMO transcult agents targeting students ought to be barred from high schools with an ironclad one-strike you're out policy. Regrettably today high schools are more likely to ban anyone who states concerns about transcult operatives. This leaves young people not just unprotected but targeted by deeply disturbed or at best confused trans-radicals. I'm just so grateful I went to high school when I did when it was still a high school and not an indoctrination camp targeting troubled and vulnerable young students. I see this whole cultural moment as a targeted attack on those with emotional problems and mental illness.
This is very helpful! We need as many anecdotes like yours and from girls who were just tomboys, boys who simply didn't fit the "cowboy" image. One valuable thought I'm passing on to Paul is that men often mature physically through their late teens. But some shoot up and get facial hair at 15. There are other things for girls. They say there isn't as much volunteering in Scandinavia because the government provides so much. Thanks~
Woohoo! So far, no "nanny box" warning against the healthy practices for bringing mind and body into balanced connection. Please share with any parents discussing children who are becoming disconnected through outside influences.
BTW you can easily tell how great you were at teaching and particularly with kids who have special needs or difficulties at home. When you describe stories I can easily imagine how you spoke to both kids and parents. I take no little pride in saying it reminds me of my own mum who worked with little kids and I know misses teaching now although she has earnt a well-deserved retirement.
I would be VERY HAPPY to be corrected but from what I see & hear from these "neurodiversity" clubs, they are focused on the validity & self esteem of the individual & on negotiating accommodations from others.
I'm so happy if that's what they do. Excellent. Thanks for letting me know. It's just that the autism groups are captured these days, saying "trans" is intrinsic to the condition!
@@UteHeggenTranswidowHeals Oh I've heard those stories too. What I meant is that the message I keep getting from the "neurodiversity" movement is that it should be on others to accommodate the neurodiverse. You talk about "neurodivergent" people aiming to reduce their sensitivities & understand how people communicate. I would have LOVED something like that as a child but now I am 48 & see a bunch of younger autistics thinking they're being their "authentic self" when they are in fact behaving inappropriately! Is it any wonder there is such a crossover with trans & other woke guff?
IMO autism treatment is broken. Has become an identity instead of something for which practical coping skills are learned. I LOVED your desensitization story, Ute. Today the child would be given noise-cancelling headphones ensuring he will never adjust to normal noise levels - have witnessed this with friends' children.
@@birchlover3377 Thanks for this, birchlover! I think those headphones should only be used in the subway and in the noisy cafeteria. I don't think we did that with Flynn, but we might have.
Trevor Project and GLAAD are literally working directly against their remit. Who would have thought it would have taken them so little time to abandon actual gay men and lesbians in the search for the dollar and relevance? I think like so many organizations of its type the good guys moved on when their battles were one and left only extremists. Eddie Izzard used to be very funny because he accepted that he was a transvestite and only dressed that way in comedic performances. He's not told a single joke in a decade. Compare that to when he told jokes in other languages as a man aware that he was simply a man in clothing and make up. If you go back and watch when he did the extraordinary achievement of back to back marathons over weeks he was very clearly using his male physique to help others. Those days are unfortunately long behind us and his narcissism has taken over. He abandoned his new name and pronouns when he realised he was actually living off his old heyday and that his new female persona has zero jokes to tell. But he'll put on that costume when it gets him applause for being "brave". It's well worth watching his old performances and contrasting the stories he tells to his new narratives. He used to be supremely aware of the differences between male and female and even had jokes about how men struggle to articulate emotion or think more about sx. I used to have some sympathy for him because he lost his mum at an early age. But if you have heard him tell a story of him dressed up basically harassing teen girls but feeling he was the victim then that quickly dries up. To me he's a great example of someone who achieved so much more as a man who admitted he liked wearing women's clothes than now with his ridiculous ego-driven nonsense. I wish we could hear the stories of his ex to know quite how and where it all went wrong. Even looking her up gets stories of Eddie feeling sorry for himself for not being able to hold down a relationship as a "trans woman".
Kudos to you for making a difference!
Thanks! and all of you commenters with your anecdotes and wise suggestions. We all are making a difference.
