Do you have to remove the bumper to replace your headlight bulbs in your Ford Fusion? In this video we replace the headlight bulbs on my 2015 Ford Fusion and show you how to do it WITHOUT taking the bumper off! We also upgrade the Fusion's headlight bulbs in the process to something a little brighter as the standard halogen bulbs are not as bright as I would like them to be. Very few tools are needed for this job and I highly recommend you try to do this yourself versus paying someone to do it for you. Hope this video helps, let me know how we did in the comments below. Low beams or just high bulbs? My lows are out and I can NOT twist the bulb out This way

Got it done! I took bumper halfway off about 30-minute job or less for me due to someone being in there before , lol..
But turned in driveway today only to notice drivers side front turn signal is out, about to do it again I guess

This is WAY EASIER than other methods I saw posted!!! It honestly took 5-10 minutes per light. The first was about 10 minutes, the second was about 4. Much better than taking the front of the car apart and dealing with those stupid body panel clips! Great explanations also!!

While this isn't too bad, and I'm sure a whole lot easier than taking off the bumper like some videos show... I came here to check out how to change my headlights since I just changed my wife's, on her Honda CRV. No instruments required, and it legit took under 2 minutes per side. I was hoping mine would be as simple, but clearly not. :( Not terrible, but compared to the Honda CRV, this is a poor design. Who designs this silliness. :\

@@trainingverse007 Not sure what you mean. You follow the directions in the video and when you get the hood stop out of the way and the rubber cup you reach down and turn the bulb assembly to release it. You need small hands or a girl to get her hand down there.
Thank you so much for making this video. It was clear and gave me the confidence to do this job. The previous owner of my 2016 Fusion had the headlights replaced by a local mechanic before I bought the car, but less than a year later one of them went out. (You know the guy touched the bulb while installing it.) This saved me at least $200 I was thinking I would never need to spend because the problem had been fixed.

This video was so so helpful thank you for posting, I consider myself not mechanically inclined. But this was not hard at all.
Only bad thing is I lost my 10mm socket down below and had to go buy a new one.
Great video! In my experience I had to push from the top down on the bulb and wire harness. I did not have enought force in my hands so I used a flat head to push down. I was gentle enough not to break or strip any thing. Thanks again!

Thanks from the 407. I ended up needing to take one more 10mm bolt off the side panel to gain just a bit more room for my hands to fit. Counter clockwise to remove, clockwise to replace. Your video gave me the confidence to do it myself.

Awesome video, thank you. I was struggling getting the passenger side low beam out trying the 4 fingers maneuver. Ended up putting my hand on the bracket behind it for leverage and pushed down with just my thumb and it popped free immediately.

Thank you for posting this video! My passenger side light was out and using this method I replaced it pretty easily. Wanted to change out the driver's side too since they were both original. But I just couldn't get my hands in there far enough to get the bulb out. Oh well, I'll wait till it burns out before I'll try to take the bumper loose!
Same here. Passenger side was easy enough but the driver’s side was just about impossible to twist
yeah I could not get that driver side bulb out. Spent about an hour fiddling with it before I gave up
If I didn’t have skinny hands I probably would have not been able to do drivers side.

This video really made a difference! My sisters car needed a drivers side bulb and we changed it in less than an hour. Had a little trouble with the angle needed to get the bolt needing the extension for the socket but eventually got it!

This seems so much easier than taking off the bumper. I was dreading it!
Took me two hours.. bloody hands back side.
But I got it in, just guessing.
When I was a kid it was two screws and a plug in.
This one I needed a socket wrench three different screw drivers pull the plastic plugs, replace them seven.
Guy at the repair shop say5 $175 plus taxes includes the bulb.
Wish electric air bikes would come out.
Looks like some really super fast greased lighting fun

I used to have a 2011 Mercury Milan. I did changed the headlight on the driver’s side twice. I didn’t used any tools just my hands. I took out the air filter out the top and bottom to get to the headlight. I did changed both headlights in a 2015 Ford Escape a couple times. My very first car was a 1998 Ford Contour that I had to take out each light to changed the headlights by using a Phillips head screw driver. I did it twice on that car. My father wanted to helped me but, I got it under control. Luckily that I have small hands to reach in.

as another here said, I likewise was able to do it without loosening things, but you need long fingers and thin hands to do it - and you will scrape those knuckles if you don't loosen it up like this guy did. Nice vid.

Thank you so much, this helped me a lot. Little bit of struggle for the first buld on driver side to put it back, but not a big deal. Once you replace the driver side, the passenger side would be a piece of cake. Just be careful for sharp edges of the frame while removing and installing the bulb.

Thanks so much for this, called my local ford and they said it was 95 bucks extra in labor for them to do it. Only tough part I had was getting the 10mm bolt back in behind the bumper
My local dealership told me it was going to be around $350 lol
Mine just told me $390
managed to get it out without removing anything but the dust cover using a large oil filter wrench. The curved wrench fit in their and I was able to push on the wiring harness to break it free - then rotate it 360 degrees and pull it out. Scraped up my knuckles but got it out. Now I just have to figure out how to get the new one in after I go to the store for a new bulb.

Nice to see another option. I've always gone in through the wheel well to change the bulb. Nerf football required for that route to hold the liner open.
Always more than one way to do a job!
15 Fusion SE I had serious problems with getting bulb connector out . After loosening the appropriate bolts , you wedge some 2 x 4s in between headlights and frame member giving you just enough room to get rather large hand in there to twist counterclockwise about 1/4 turn . Pops right out.
There's always more than 1 way to do the same job. Aslong as you get it done!

I wabt to replace both lights in each side, so 4 total. I dont know what the weaker light is called that is kind of set back behind, but will i be able to replace it too once i get access to the main headlight?
You might be able to. I've never tried

thanks. couldnt figure out the bumper and had to pay a shit ton to get my indicator bulb replaced. Now that the headlight went out im happy I can do it myself.

Thanks for the help. I figured there was a way to get some extra room to get in there. Didn't want to take my bumper apart to change a damn light bulb. This isn't the greatest for people with meaty hands but patience prevails😂

😮😢lost the t27 bolt ,and the plastic hood mount bracket broke . Still got the light in but I rigged something temporary, because I dont know where to get a bolt like that, or what to do with the hood bumper

I have a 2009 Fusion and Ford put a "bulb access" panel in the wheel well. I think Ford defines "access" different than I do! What possesses car designers to make it so difficult to change a light bulb? Is it their way of ensuring the car ends up in a service bay?
Something like that lol engineer's and designers definitely don't talk to techs that's for sure
Both my headlights are out but my high beams still work. I checked for blown fuse and there isn't a fuse in f20 and I bought my fusion from a dealer. Could both my bulbs just be out? Or am I missing fuses?

I’m having trouble with the bulb rotation part could you elaborate as to getting it out
All I cam elaborate on is making sure you get the proper leverage on the bulb to spin it the proper direction. Not sure what else to say really. Sometimes you gotta get creative with what you are using tool wise

Thanks for the video. I have a headlight out so I'm also going to do the running light that I've been putting off forever. It's the light you have on in the very beginning. Sylvania's website says that's also an H11-- it looks different to me. Do you happen to know for sure if it's the same?
I do not know unfortunately. I'm pretty sure they are different bulbs though

Had to leave a comment. You are amazing! I have done it the other way which is terrible and long. When I saw my headlight out this week I decided I rather pay someone else. But when the dealer quoted me over $400 and the lowest small shop said $285, meh… I guess I’ll do it again.

What year is your car ? I have a 2015 fusion and its a little different than yours. For instance my hood bumper stop has a bridge that needs to come off as well or i can't get to the bulb .
