Of the cases shown I like the Gewa case a lot. Personally I'm now a fan of lightweight cases for some of the reasons you listed like shoulder pain, which is why I switched from a 7.25 lb one. Though for students sometimes you just have to guide them to whatever is most sturdy. Especially the younger ones haha. Which case do you generally recommend to students?

I agree with that! For beginner violinists I typically recommend the bobelock because it's built like a tank and incredibly sturdy for the price.
