Didn't miss a beat in switching from your wife to your husband. That's a sign of real god damn progress. Eventually, we might get to the initial assumption not being there, but this is a big change in my lifetime.
The initial assumption will always be there because the overwhelming majority of married couples are heterosexual. I don’t think it has anything to do with society ignoring homosexual married couples of course, but statistically we can see why that would be the initial assumption.
