Huh? There have been plenty of successful sitcoms without laugh tracks before this. Hell, the 60s Batman show was a sitcom without a laugh track, the producers even classified it as such.
The death of Brendan Fraser's character Benji really got me. His character would make the normally grumpy and cynical characters like Jordan and Dr Cox into happy people when they were around him... And then he died.
I remember hearing a story about how one of the episodes came into existence on accident. Apparently, the writers would pitch options for shows for the studio to greenlight, and when they really wanted to make a specific story, they would make the alternative really dumb/ridiculous. In this case, they wanted to make an episode about the doctors trying to get Marijuana for a dying cancer patient, but to make it more appealing, they paired it with a similar storyline, but instead the doctors are searching for a prostitute so the patient dying of cancer can have sex for the first (and likely last) time. The studio chose the prostitute episode.
While finding out Kelso's age, janitor appears in the elevator and says "you're old" then asks for a high five. In between takes, he told me to have the elevator door close on him when he goes for the high five, and everyone on set thought I screwed up until he kept the ad lib going. As soon as they yelled cut, everyone was laughing hysterically
We all know that John Ritter became JD's dad due to his resamblance to Zach Braff (or rather other way around), but did you know that they wanted Dax Shepard to play his brother too? Braff and Faison were talking about it in their podcast. It didn't happen because of scheduling issues.
It is genuinely impressive how the actor doing JD's father manages to do the same facial expressions as his "son". Either the casting people were good or that guy is just amazing (or maybe a little of both).
You forget the most important part of Neil Flynn: The janitor was entirely imaginary. In the 1st season you can see he only interact with J.D and in final episode he was supposed to be revealed to be a figment of JD's imagination. It was because he was too good the show decided to make him real.
It wasn’t because he was too good, the imaginary Janitor was going to be the reveal at the end of the first season if the show didn’t get renewed for a second. Once the show had been running long enough, I think halfway into the 2nd season, they decided it would be too difficult to maintain the gag indefinitely, so the Janitor got to interact with other characters
Please do a TV shows couples list of any kind so you can open a spot to remember Jelliott. I love them SO MUCH and really think they're one of the best sitcoms couple, but often forgotten
The first one, what is Todd's last name was super easy for me as it's my last name as well. But to make it even better my fathers name is Todd R. Quinlan. I put in the R. because at one point in time in the show you see Todd's middle initial and it's R. One of my favorite shows too which makes this lil tid bit all the more interesting to me.
i read the scene where Turk meets Lando and shrieks, Billy Dee's reaction was genuine. same with the scene where JD is describing how he got Kim pregnant and Turk shrieks
One of the greatest comedy shows ever... The finale (Season nine does not exist) was damn near friggin perfect! I cried for weeks after this show left us
I dunno if it technically calls for an unscripted shoutout but when Cox says "I've killed for far less" and shouts at the guys to shut up, he slams a napkin holder..and cut his damn hand open LOL O_O Talk about unscripted!
@@josshiotv1132 not even close. How I met your mother wouldn't even rate in the top 10 sitcoms of all time... but perhaps the top 30. Ever watched "That 70s Show" ? Or perhaps "Community"?

Scrubs deserve more love , they were first successful sitcom without laugh track and they so many sad moments.
Huh? There have been plenty of successful sitcoms without laugh tracks before this. Hell, the 60s Batman show was a sitcom without a laugh track, the producers even classified it as such.
What @northwindkey said.
The first comedy [&/or sitcom] show without a laugh track was The Hank McClure Show. (Widely accepted to be, anyway.)
I know that wonder years , dream and curb your enthusiasm didn't have laughing track but started to watched them after the scrubs.
It's certainly the best sitcom without a laugh track.
@@northwindkey it’s ok it’s just that it’s only just appeared on TikTok so she thinks she just discovered it
No reboot! No. This show is brilliant and should be left alone.

I mean... technically that's what season 9 was.
@@screamxaimfire I thought we don't talk about that season?

I actually met Robert Maschio aka The Todd at Newcastle Comic Con 2016. Has to be one of the kindness people I have ever met.
This is 1 of very few shows that I cry because of. "Where do you think we are"? Gets me every time
the way he looks back to where ben was always gets me
"He wasn't going to die, was he Newbie? He could have lived another month without a kidney."
I was genuinly floored the first time I saw that episode. I probably took me a few days to stop coming back to it in my mind. absolutely brilliant!
The death of Brendan Fraser's character Benji really got me. His character would make the normally grumpy and cynical characters like Jordan and Dr Cox into happy people when they were around him... And then he died.
YES this is one of my favourite shows ever! I'm so glad these scenes were kept in
I agree completely, with both of your statements!
Sarah’s delivery of “STOP FINISHING MY AWESOME JOKES!!!” is one of the best moments of the show.😂
Just on my 14th rewatch of the series, the Janitor is freaking amazing.

“benign, be-nine and a half” is one of the janitor’s best lines ever
The fact that scrubs is the closest to a real hospital than any other hospital sitcom/drama will never stop being funny
Script: [Janitor Talks]
Neil Flynn: *cracks neck* Showtime.
While finding out Kelso's age, janitor appears in the elevator and says "you're old" then asks for a high five. Hi beard face 😄
Scrubs is such a good show.
Best. Show. Ever! Eaaaaaagle!

yup
@The Lone Ninja 82 how would u know that
It is genuinely impressive how the actor doing JD's father manages to do the same facial expressions as his "son". Either the casting people were good or that guy is just amazing (or maybe a little of both).
That's because John Ritter was a legend.
Still waiting for a feature length Dr. Acula movie. I would watch the hell out of that. 😁

Janitor does interact with other characters in the first season, including his own father.
It wasn’t because he was too good, the imaginary Janitor was going to be the reveal at the end of the first season if the show didn’t get renewed for a second. It’s a fun fact but not an improv!
Honestly I’m glad because him messing with other characters and his relationship with Lady is one of the moments that makes the show great
Braf and Faizon sell a shirt of them in comic form doing "The Eagle" for charity. It's one of my prized possessions.
I ADORED Cox!! And since I think John Cusack is totally amazing and Robert Redford hung the moon, I think he chose his idols well… 🥰🥰🥰
I miss Scrubs. Well...not season 9.
There's no season 9
season 9 was a spin off and it was fine
I’m still wondering how “knive-wrench” came to live 🤣🤣🤣
Fun fact you can find snoop dogg resident wayy before he was an intern. Sometime in the first or second season hes in the background
You mean snoop dogg attending? 🤣
excellent pick to play j.ds father, even had the same facial expressions. choosing j.ds older brother was a master pick as well.

We need a proper sequel series to Scrubs, but still sad about Sam Lloyd’s passing.
I think pretty much everything Neil Flynn (Janitor) says is unscripted

The Todd's last name of Quinlan is probably from Richard Quinlan, the cinematographer from Bill Lawrence's previous show Spin City.

I wonder if the Gurney Surfing was scripted.
Number one better be every line the janitor says
love that you used a few scenes from the musical episode!
Hmm Eagle never registered
It would have been so great at if the janitor would have said John Cah McGinley
Never reboot this show, it is gold and endearing, and never had an additional season(s) after JD left Sacred Heart!
