    One of the best, well written characters in all of TV. He never felt like a character on a show. JD was a real person just trying to make it in life.

    Media today needs more characters like him - man that is not primitive alpha, but also is not gay.

      there are plenty, you just don't notice because they aren't quite as "explicit" (obvious sounds negative) in trying to prove this point. I think this mostly a generational thing. Classic gender roles have been eroded as the younger generation enters the entertainment sphere. Zach Braff grew up in a time where you constantly had to reassure your masculinity to others to prove you weren't gay, but it was already far better by the time I went through elementary/middle/high school, and I'm only 23. I can only expect this will continue.

      Yeah! That’s why when people say jake peralta from b99 is bi, I’m like yeah maybe but he could just be a straight guy who’s not an alpha male

    • @fanfusion4276
      @fanfusion4276 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The other one I can think of is Chuck on, well, Chuck. He fits that pretty well. Jake and Charles from B99 also fits that although the fan base really wants Jake to be Bi. Maybe also Dipper in Gravity Falls or Aang or plenty other animated protagonists really.

    Men like this make the best husbands and loving, involved fathers, :) I know because I am married to one. He is more of a logical thinker than into art, but really connected with "JD". We would watch Scrubs together after work when we were newlyweds. Good times. #appletini

      All kinds of men may make the best husbands. ''Traditionally masculine'' (using that tearm broadly) also can and do make great husbands. You're also forgetting that JD was really creepy and selfish with women for a long time (I love his character but still)

    Loved his candor (bonus b/c because we’re both Jersey guys), and also made me realize my luck in high school. My friend dubbed me “multi-clique-ular” because I was a band nerd (trumpet), a burnout (drummer in a heavy metal band), jock (baseball and hoops up to Sophomore year), stage geek (lead in the drama) and overall nerd (grades were good). This isn’t meant as braggadocio, it’s more that I realized most of these labels were just that - labels. I got along with everyone and no one in those granular groups ever gave me sh&t for being involved in the others (except for gentle ribbing, which is how guys bond anyway - you need to be able to take the joke as much as give it). I use those lessons to this day as a 50+ year old corporate manager who realizes everyone’s story and experience informs their approach to work. Ask enough questions and respect the answers, and you’ll connect and get somewhere. Too deep, I know, but what the hell.

      @yevgeniyaleshchenko849 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It still sounds as braggadocio though because not everyone is so lucky to escape bullying in school.You realize that most labels are put on us by others? Many kids in schools absolutely think within narrow categories, your story is more of an exception. Concerning the second part of your comment... Well, most decent adults understand that, it's not ''too deep'' at all. It's obvious and basic truth of life.

    Interesting. Having recently rewatched through the entirety of Scrubs for the first time in about a decade I would guess, based on both the textual and subtextual level, that JD and Turk were bisexual. That definitely seems to be the implication even though neither character comes to that realization. But this may be a matter of showrunner/writer decisions versus actors choices.

    • @andimavictorian3708

    I have absolutely no idea what he just said. Act this way, not this way? I"m not a part of the group because I'm straight? Had he been a jock, he wouldn't have felt like an outsider? I think I know what he was trying to say, but feeling like an outsider happens if you're in or out of a group.
