We're pitting the Ferrari 488 Spider, the Lamborghini Huracan, and the Audi R8V10 against each other in a 3 way drag race. With over half a million dollars worth of cars and almost 2,000 combined horsepower, who will win? Find out in this episode.
The winner of this race will move on to the final round where we race it against the winner of the front engine supercar showdown.

Save a lot of money and buy an Audi R8V10 with upgrade. I read where some thought the Ferrari shifted early. Being a turbo engine, I assuming the RPM shift points are as high as the Lambo or Audi's making it sound like it was not hitting max RPM. Anyway, I'd be really happy with any of those cars :)

Next time I suggest you try switching the drivers around for different runs. It could be as simple as a really bad driver that doesn't know what he's doing (The Ferrari) Sometimes a car even a super car is only as good as the drivers ability to maximize the cars full potential.
I agree however I hesitate to call the Ferrari driver a "really bad driver". At least he was driving, I am only sitting at home watching on the computer, so sad.

@@dlg78 I'm almost certain he was using the paddle shifters so he could time the shifts, but likely just isn't good at timing shifts yet. Seems pretty obvious
Totally agree with you Jorge. To make sure to have the most accurate results you must try every option possible. Were they all in the right mode ? For example : Corsa for Lambo, Sport for Audi, etc..

Weird. I've gapped a FBO E85 GTR with a stock 488 spider. Shifts sounded off and seemed maybe a gear too high.

@@ohadams8008 why though, with a Ferraris max power is at max rpm. Also torque shifting is stupid because the higher the rpms the faster you're going so less work for the engine. You want when you shift for it to go back into max torque

@@dlg78 anyone who ever does a race with a Ferrari uses the paddle shifters meaning it's a dual clutch trans.
The 488GTB is a good car for Ferrari's first mid engine turbo car in modern times. The Pista has shown how fast Ferrari learned from their mistakes and has run 10.1 on customer cars several times now.
Edit i would go for a 458Italia or the new F8 over it though as they are better cars.
The NSX had its debut before the 488GTB... lmao

The first thing that came to mind was the weather conditions.was it hot and humid the humidity can really sap a cars horsepower and were the air conditioners running.
All great cars and another great vid thanks for sharing. I had the pleasure of driving a Ferrari 488 GTB, Lamborghini Huracan 610-4, Porsche 911 GT3 and Hellcat Challenger Widebody courtesy of Xtreme Xperience. Out of all those i liked the Ferrari the most. Felt the fastest around the track as well

Shifting and launches weren't good on the Ferrari. You could hear and see wheel slippage from the Ferrari angle. Ultimately, these days, if you don't have launch control dialed in, you're gonna be last in a race. Additionally, it wasn't stated what tires these cars were running. Neither the Audi nor the Huracan were stock wheels, so probably ultralight wheels saving weight as well.
I'd be perfectly happy with an R8. 911 Turbo also!
The 488 is a twin turbo rocket I can't see how that Huracan edged it out like that usually it takes a Mclaren to beat a 488 and the fact the R8 and Huracan didn't use launch control and still beat that Ferrari is crazy to me

Traction issues. It seems like the ferrari was struggling even in 2nd and 3rd gear. RWD vs the AWD Audi and Lambo. Never had a chance from a dig, and was probably still struggling from a roll. Curious to know what tyres they were running could have made a difference too
Dare i say maybe heat soaking? Haha only forced induction car there could have maybe pulled power and timing for the Ferrari

I'm with you there. Really disappointed in the Ferrari. I know the Lambo is quick but damn I wasn't expecting the Audi to be up there as well. Would've been nice to throw McLaren in the race too. 570s would've been interesting to watch.
The r8 has the same engine as the lambo so it’s no surprise it’s up there. Mclarens easily have advantages over any super car given lighter weight and turbos

That Ferrari 488 is such a beautiful car. I don't think this race did it justice. That thing is like a baby Enzo from the front and side angles.
I think for the 488 traction was a problem and was cutting power , the newer software in the car makes it faster . Watch drag times .. the newer ones are definitely faster .

@Audwin Lindsay Thanks! Didn’t record the humidity unfortunately but the DA was roughly 1800 feet above sea level. The corrections at the end account for that. It’s hard to believe that the Ferrari would be that far off.
Amazing work and quality as always. Could be the ferrari was dealing with heat soak? That and maybe the driver? He appeared to be shifting a tad early every clip... either way, beautiful cars and fantastic work! 👏
Ferrari driver was short shifting. In one pull the driver shifted from 2-3 while other two were still 2-3krpm away from redline reving their gear out. Also it had the worst reaction time as well. Driver mod needed!!
Wow 488 loses again :/ and I'm not even suprised. I think something is mechanically wrong from the factory with these 488 ; they always seem to lose to cars that are heavier then they are with less power . I read a couple of people say heat soak could be the issue but with a car that expensive heat soak should never be the issue and if it is heat soak Ferrari needs to put out a recall . If that was my 488 that got beat like that I would be calling Ferrari corporate the next day to get some answers lol
Take the aftermarket wing and larger 20/21 wheels off the Huracan, slap the stock wheels back on and it’ll be a lot quicker... Keep up the good work!

Question what’s the formula for DA correction when it comes to 60-130 ? How much does 1000 DA affect 60-130?
@Miguel Ramirez Thanks! There isn’t a formula, but a linear chart that we use that’s derived from standardized aviation numbers. It’s not an end all solution but in my experience in testing cars in different conditions, it’s gotten us pretty close. For correction of 1000’ DA above sea level, multiply your time by 0.99.

Rob Feretti from Superspeeders had some similar issues with his 488 not performing how it should in roll races. He was also puzzled. Interestingly, I've seen some 488's that are quite a bit faster than others. I think dragtimes noticed this too. I'd like to see that exact 488 go up on a dynojet and have the weight checked. It would be interesting for sure.
Why no launch control?
Ferrari has been known for years to send "ringers" to magazines and media outlets for testing. Customer cars hardly ever come close to achieving media numbers...
Blame the tires and not being in automatic mode. Plenty of vids 488 being faster than Huracan..
The third race was in automatic mode and still got walked
It's Turbo, plenty of vids where a 488 can be easily tweaked...

Those are interesting results since 2 of the 3 aren't tuned. I wonder how the R8 vs the Ferrari goes without the tune. That being said curious what next weeks cars will be I suspect a F12 or like model to show up LOL

At least in the final (0-…) run I‘d say the Audi jumped the start (and the Lamborghini driver took a lil nap 😁). I think you should use data loggers in all cars to eliminate some more variables (even though it‘s impossible to eliminate all of them as long as there are human drivers). And yes, I agree with another comment here, switch the drivers around for a more fair result!

As a Viper owner it was nice to see the Viper kick some ass....but both cars in the final were not stock....give the AMG the Rentech stage1, or even better the stage 2 aftermarket then i think it pulls away from both (hp would have been closer to the audi and viper)....so why race some stock and others not? I guess is was due to availability, but AMG with Renntech would be hard for anything to keep up with (other than those 1000 hp vipers and Lambo's)

Air temperature, not as slippery through the air or just the gearing isn't as aggressive. Who knows

All good man. Studies come first. Yeah 488 is a beast tbh but some of the commenters are saying the driver wasn’t good. Yeah, if I could do track videos, I much rather do that. Track rentals are way more expensive than runway rentals and takes more time to shoot, but you know the deal.
Ferrari overstated their horsepower no.s while Lamborghini understated their horsepower figures IMO judging by the testing and races on TH-cam

Let the cars shift. Manual mode to hold gear, but then get back to auto mode and keep your foot flat. As fun as paddles can be, nobody can shift better than the computer.

There’s already videos of stock customer cars accelerating as Ferrari have claimed and beating Lamborghini cars. The 488 Spider even beat the Performante in a roll. So that excuse is silly.
Possibly the ferrari turbo charging is the problem at high altitude and that V10 naturally aspirated breathed easier

Possible heat soak issues on the Ferrari turbo considering the weather seemed warm. Tuning might be conservative.

Im not sure why yhe ferrari was slower i wpuld say because its a spider but that's not the issue, maybe it's ragged out burning oil, consumption, driver?. Not sure but the tuned Audi isn't stock so there's a advantage..
