Great video as always! One thing, I feel this test should be based on non modified vehicles... I mean both finalists are modified... you can get a 1999 Honda civic that's modified that would destroy both the viper and R8.... Again huge fan but the modded wild cards kill it a bit.
Why in the hell would you put a manual Z06 in this comparison when you and your mama know that the auto is faster? I own a stock C7 Z06 and I smoked a Ferrari Italia from an 80 mph pull! So put that manual back in your garage and run an auto next time!
I think these videos are great but I'm not sure why you have tuned cars vs stock cars...I feel like you could build any car to beat any other car based on mods so I'm not sure what these tests are really measuring?

this is the thing bugging me the most. I love Track Day's content and nothing's taking away my sub. But that was some of the poorest lining up I have ever seen ever. Same in the round 1 video! Was it a trick of the camera or something making the gaps look bigger than they were?
Vipers are known to be a incredibly tough car to drive. It ain't going anywhere without an experienced racer behind the wheel. But learn how to bang the gears and it will take off. Even tho this one was somewhat modified it's still na vs boosted. Turbo vipers are unbeatable making tons of power. It's known to make up to 2000+ on a stock block.

Gotta say love that viper. They seem rarer or Atleast around the nyc area and the amg is just another "Mercedes" which can be good or bad depending on how you look at it.
Viper is definitely the rarest. I've only ever seen 4 of them on the road in my life, and I've been to every state on the East Coast of the US, as well as some states in the Mid West. 2 of them were in Florida and one in New Jersey. The other one was on a showroom floor in 2006 when I was with my dad while he was getting his (at the time) new truck. I see multiple Corvettes every single day, and that's honestly made them very boring too me. I appreciate what they are, but it's turned into "Nice, another Corvette...." as for the Mercedes, not sure how many I've seen, but too me it's quite a boring car.
It would have been a more fair race if they where all auto and instead of the z06.. you had a ZR1 .. that's a round the price the other 2 vehicles cost

@@devambhagat3478 I do indeed mate, i watch quite a few channels that's why I know drag races can also be consistent. The quality of the drivers has to be similar and to a high standard. Track Day could have a Hyundai race an F1 car and the Hyundai would win 2 out of 5. The results are so arbitrary. Production value and independent reviews aside I may unsubscribe.
Yeppp I totally agree. When the drag race is about to start the drivers are really far apart some even a cars length apart which brings super inconsistent results. I think they have really good insight on their car reviews and they should just stick to those. Because they produce really high quality content for such a small channel and the drag races are just no where close to the quality they produce
I think that was a fair outcome, however, I can't help but wonder how a C7 ZR1 would do against all these cars. I don't recall ever seeing you evaluate one of those beasts. I think a lot of people would love to see that happen.
AMG GTR should have moved to next round. There is a reason the Viper is discontinued and needed to be modified to get 1 win over the car that got 2 wins the true winner AMG GTR!
If I still had my automatic Z06 or if I could find an auto Z06, I would’ve thrown it in the mix. But hey I’m just one guy here. No press car access, no sponsorship from local dealers, renting the airstrip out of my own pocket (even though I lose money on each episode) and relying on friends/fans to provide cars, so I’ll take what I can get.
The amg gtr is a mid engine car, you say the viper was the clear winner when it’s modded so in reality no. Also, Using a manual Z06 up against a DCT is stupid.
6:12 this is why you dont test manual against autos too many variables, the Z06 and viper are clearly faster cars BUT the auto is super consistent. For that the GTR is the clear winner vs manuals.
Good boy. At least you don't pick favorites, i might just be a new subscriber too. Usually, TH-camrs would rather give it to Corvette, no matter have gapped it got. But thing people don't realize, is that the Viper pulls like it's life literally depends on it.
3 of the coolest cars in the world. Front-Mid Engined sports cars are the best. Would prefer the more raw/lightweight/NA C6 Z06 above any of these, and then maybe the Viper second. The Merc is a looker for sure, too bad it’s got auto only and turbo instead of big displacement NA. Good work, keep it coming!

Mercedes lapped Nurburgring with this car 7:04 & 7:10. C7 ZR1 750HP could not 🤷♂️😂 The Blackseries GTR Mercedes 730HP un official lapped Nurburgring 6:40 (car isn't out yet). Which makes the fastest production car all while being front engine / rear drive! 😎🏆🍾
Kind of figured that the Viper would have won just because it's NA. You could have made this even more interesting by not only just front engine but possibly splitting it into more categories such as front mid-engine as some people want to believe or even rear engine, but I digress. Funny enough for people who want an electric car in this race they would be disappointed to find out the Tesla wouldn't even be considered on a 40-100 or 60-130. I believe it was carwow or some other channel that posted a video of the I Pace feeding the Tesla due to the gearing being better for on-the-go vs. 0-60.
I honestly thought it would’ve taken it by a larger margin, but at least unlike last week, it wasn’t a major upset. I think this will be the first of a style of race video that I try to do. Fast, Faster, Fastest? 3x3? Something along those lines where 3 cars of with a few things in common. I’ve still yet to see how fast a Tesla is in the long game here on the ½ mile strip. Hopefully I can get something back to do some races as I really think the results will be surprising (to both sides of the camp).

Corvette vs Viper is like comparing a suped up Camry to a Supra. Yes the modded to hell camry could edge out the supra however the camry is common and boring. Nothing has as legendary of a presence as the viper. When a Viper pulls up you know who the boss is.
The Viper is hands down the beast. It’s natural aspiration makes instant power off the line and into the finish. The Corvette starts strong but the supercharger can’t push that top end like the twin turbo GT-R that takes a second to spool out the lag. Regardless this comparison shows three different approaches. The manual transmissions are tricky paired against modern autos. For a daily, C7. I love to do my own maintenance and it’s practicality our does both. Benz for the lease and Viper for the track.
Wow thats awesome you got your hands on a Viper T/A 2.0. Those are super hard to find. All 3 cars are amazing. Viper takes it for me hands down on overall appeal. I think a road course race these cars would be almost even. The AMG GT-R is a close favorite of mine next to the Gen 5 Viper. Always love the Z06 but the C7 ZR1 is out there now. 💪💪💪
On the 3rd run the Viper guy finally stopped being scared and used the viper properly. That car is not for noobs and is extremely hard to control without fearing for your life. I tested it and was scared out of my mind
For you ppl b:tching about the end result. The only mods that viper had was an aftermarket exhaust and a tune. To me this wasn’t even a fair race (for the viper). You have a supercharged high reving flat plane V8 in the corvette and a twin charged V8 in the AMG. Two of the latest and greatest versus a decade old design which hasn’t been in production for years?
If all cars were stock with an automatic transmission, the Corvette Z06 wins everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. It literally has a ridiculously amount of torque.
Dan was not driving, but yes it was no lift shifted. The Z06 began to heat soak after that 1st run and they started in 1st gear on the 3rd run. It was a good gear for the Viper but NOT for the Z06.
Track Day There’s a popular TH-camr names Spreetspeed717 who is in the Pennsylvania area who has a ZR1. Even though his is modified, he had a few friends who also have stock ZR1’s maybe you can hit him up for some kind of cross promotion filming. Just a suggestion. Thanks for the response.
Another great video Dan, that intro shot with the three cars was amazing. I must agree with you, even though last week's line up is worth way more than these, I prefer this line up as well. The Viper ages very well (even though it's not that old) and the Z06 & GTR are just some of the best looking cars you can find. Can't wait for next week!!
Thanks Francois! Although I find the AMG GT-R very classy and rather elegant inside, both my wife and I agreed that the Viper is the ultimate of these 3 if we had to pick on looks and long term ownership.
@TheYellowCarGuy It’s possible that the Z06 did do worse due to the overheating. We did the first two runs back to back. The last run had a 20 minute cool down period for the Z06 because it was starting to overheat based on temps on the dash.
AMG GTS - when it breaks down , make sure you spare kidneys to sell. Viper TA - when it does not break down , enjoy the car coz its so unreliable Z06 - Easier on wallet , fairly reliable, looks and sounds amazing , track monster.. *I say Corvette is the winner*
Viper is NOT unreliable. It's always been reliable, its an overbuilt monster you can track and drive home FYI Corvette has had some engines explode. Nonetheless I'd take the Viper and Corvette over the GT

If were looking for fastest front engine car we should take out drivers as a factor, or at least make it as negligible as possible, cause those lineups looked off and it looked like someone missed a gear in the vette. Maybe get an auto for the vette and a professional driver for the viper. The power and weights are all so close I would say the car that gets through the gears fastest will win. So gotta try and make that part fair. Maybe grab a ZR1 since its probably fairer comparison to that viper

I would say the ZO6 is the best pick since it runs on average about $35,000 less than the Viper at $100K and the GTR Coupe at $115K compared to $70's for the ZO6. Dollar for dollar you can't beat corvette performance for the price. All three are pretty awesome cars

he addressed it in the video, u see the viper has long earnings, first goes up to 62miles and 2nd goes up to 90mph , so ur thinking yeah lets start it at first but with first the car will slip and slide like an animal, and 2nd is too much but I think at the 3rd run he went with 1st and finessed it. (explained why he missed a shift in 1st run, plus these cars rev so fast its not as easy as it looks)
Automatic Z06 would have won. Instead of being a manual which draws you back each shift the automatic Z06 would've smoked everything. But ofc The automatic AMG gtr won. No dip
@@fallback8314 Not the same, entirely different engines. The ZR1 is an LT5 6.2L supercharged engine @ 755hp, the ZO6 is also a 6.2L supercharged LT4 @ 650hp. The ZO6 is a great track car but the ZR1 is a little higher level.

Your right, the Auto is significantly faster. This is one reason you always have to take these videos with a grain of salt!
Not only that, but you can clearly see some of the shifts by the driver looked slow as molasses. 🤦🏻♂️

The AMG was stock and still held its own and won 2 races. The viper had a tune, headers and had a hero run and barley won 1 race. The AMG got screwed!

I'm a Ford guy, but the SRT VIPER is one of the most gorgeous cars ever made. I would LOVE to own one over the other two.

The viper impressed the hell out of me. All motor and still showed the other 2 how its done.But If it was my money , I'd get the corvette.
Kind of figured that the Viper would have won just because it's NA. You could have made this even more interesting by not only just front engine but possibly splitting it into more categories such as front mid-engine as some people want to believe or even rear engine, but I digress.
Funny enough for people who want an electric car in this race they would be disappointed to find out the Tesla wouldn't even be considered on a 40-100 or 60-130. I believe it was carwow or some other channel that posted a video of the I Pace feeding the Tesla due to the gearing being better for on-the-go vs. 0-60.
I honestly thought it would’ve taken it by a larger margin, but at least unlike last week, it wasn’t a major upset. I think this will be the first of a style of race video that I try to do. Fast, Faster, Fastest? 3x3? Something along those lines where 3 cars of with a few things in common. I’ve still yet to see how fast a Tesla is in the long game here on the ½ mile strip. Hopefully I can get something back to do some races as I really think the results will be surprising (to both sides of the camp).

Update : Nvm found them and they are dropping like flies 😂. For 110k, I'd still get something else. I dig muscle cars but I'd rather buy them with the right engine at the lowest price and start working on it myself that way I know I didn't blow Too Much from the beginning.

Corvette vs Viper is like comparing a suped up Camry to a Supra. Yes the modded to hell camry could edge out the supra however the camry is common and boring. Nothing has as legendary of a presence as the viper. When a Viper pulls up you know who the boss is.

The Viper is hands down the beast. It’s natural aspiration makes instant power off the line and into the finish. The Corvette starts strong but the supercharger can’t push that top end like the twin turbo GT-R that takes a second to spool out the lag. Regardless this comparison shows three different approaches. The manual transmissions are tricky paired against modern autos. For a daily, C7. I love to do my own maintenance and it’s practicality our does both. Benz for the lease and Viper for the track.
Wow thats awesome you got your hands on a Viper T/A 2.0. Those are super hard to find. All 3 cars are amazing. Viper takes it for me hands down on overall appeal.
I think a road course race these cars would be almost even. The AMG GT-R is a close favorite of mine next to the Gen 5 Viper. Always love the Z06 but the C7 ZR1 is out there now. 💪💪💪

On the 3rd run the Viper guy finally stopped being scared and used the viper properly. That car is not for noobs and is extremely hard to control without fearing for your life. I tested it and was scared out of my mind

For you ppl b:tching about the end result. The only mods that viper had was an aftermarket exhaust and a tune. To me this wasn’t even a fair race (for the viper). You have a supercharged high reving flat plane V8 in the corvette and a twin charged V8 in the AMG. Two of the latest and greatest versus a decade old design which hasn’t been in production for years?

If all cars were stock with an automatic transmission, the Corvette Z06 wins everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. It literally has a ridiculously amount of torque.

Dan was not driving, but yes it was no lift shifted. The Z06 began to heat soak after that 1st run and they started in 1st gear on the 3rd run. It was a good gear for the Viper but NOT for the Z06.
Lost all credibility by racing with the Z06 and not the ZR1! Especially knowing the winner goes head to head with a TUNED R8! Damn shame.

Another great video Dan, that intro shot with the three cars was amazing. I must agree with you, even though last week's line up is worth way more than these, I prefer this line up as well. The Viper ages very well (even though it's not that old) and the Z06 & GTR are just some of the best looking cars you can find. Can't wait for next week!!
Thanks Francois! Although I find the AMG GT-R very classy and rather elegant inside, both my wife and I agreed that the Viper is the ultimate of these 3 if we had to pick on looks and long term ownership.
Did the Z06 do worse and worse because it overheated? Were the three runs back to back?
The vette does not overheat drag racing just the road coarse after 20 minutes of hard racing in 90 degree weather. At 75 it can run all day.
@TheYellowCarGuy It’s possible that the Z06 did do worse due to the overheating. We did the first two runs back to back. The last run had a 20 minute cool down period for the Z06 because it was starting to overheat based on temps on the dash.

Why are you using the Z06 and not the ZR1? The Z06 is only the middle of the range Corvette.

If were looking for fastest front engine car we should take out drivers as a factor, or at least make it as negligible as possible, cause those lineups looked off and it looked like someone missed a gear in the vette. Maybe get an auto for the vette and a professional driver for the viper. The power and weights are all so close I would say the car that gets through the gears fastest will win. So gotta try and make that part fair. Maybe grab a ZR1 since its probably fairer comparison to that viper

No gear missed. 1st gear start (not a good gear for the Z06) & heat soak=reduction in power.
Why not run the Viper ACR instead of the TA.....The Viper ACR will be the greatest front engined gasoline powered super car ever....
I would say the ZO6 is the best pick since it runs on average about $35,000 less than the Viper at $100K and the GTR Coupe at $115K compared to $70's for the ZO6. Dollar for dollar you can't beat corvette performance for the price. All three are pretty awesome cars

he addressed it in the video, u see the viper has long earnings, first goes up to 62miles and 2nd goes up to 90mph , so ur thinking yeah lets start it at first but with first the car will slip and slide like an animal, and 2nd is too much but I think at the 3rd run he went with 1st and finessed it. (explained why he missed a shift in 1st run, plus these cars rev so fast its not as easy as it looks)

@@fallback8314 Not the same, entirely different engines. The ZR1 is an LT5 6.2L supercharged engine @ 755hp, the ZO6 is also a 6.2L supercharged LT4 @ 650hp. The ZO6 is a great track car but the ZR1 is a little higher level.
Not having all of the cars stock is an unfair advantage. Takes the fun out of seeing what the cars have from factory. At that point why even run them.
