I can't stand sensationalized titles like this one, so named for the sheer purpose of titillating and luring viewers. It's not a "double life" when Anthony has been publicly airing his personal demons for many years.

He became what he despised. One of his shticks was sticking it to these "celebrity chefs" over and over again and saying what sellouts they are. It was painful to read what he wrote about Mark Bittman, who is a prolific cookbook author. He apparently lightened his views in later years, how could he not? He was living the same life they were! If anything he was even more popular than many of them. The "Parts Unknown" show on CNN had the highest selling ad space of any show on the channel.

Well said Seaman's. I find that being judgmental is just another form of critical thinking. I find that teachers are very judgmental as a group, because we are called upon to make decisions constantly in order to make the right call. Judgmental people live in their own form of discontent. He is gone now. We all have our battles to fight. When a person is judgmental that comes from a place of low self-esteem and having been judged and put down.

Your optimism and faith are not shared by many suicidal people, because both are hard to see when you really focus on reality. The world is harsh and no one cares whether you live or die. In the subsequent years he had become very professionally successful and financially comfortable with a bright outlook for the future. I liked Anthony Bourdain a lot, and he never held anything back, and always
was very direct, and told it like it was, even if not politically correct. Sometimes
you wonder if someone wanted him dead, and hung him, to make it look like
a suicide ? It's possible. It's hard to believe someone would take their own life
after overcoming all the hardships he did in his life -drugs, alcohol, poverty.
If he broke up with his girlfriend, and was drinking heavy, I can see him spiraling
into a deep depression, as alcohol is a central nervous system depressant. I do
wonder why some very rich celebrities who appear to have it all, take their lives,
and most do so on drugs and booze.
I'll miss his down to earth style, and his Sunday shows, as the rest of the stuff on
TV, is not worth watching anymore. RIP Tony--hope your in a better place.

Depression has no religion. It has to do with our brain. It isn't evil or good. It can be managed, but there are times where we feel hopeless because it's never-ending. It's not curable. Medications, for the most part, don't work effectively without a ton of side effects. I struggle every day, but I have not lost the fight yet. I get why he did what he did...he just had enough.

Ronald Mitchell I believe you. I’m not surprised. I’ve made it a point in my life to never take anything from a man-in an attempt to prove not all women r simply out to take a man for the most💰possible. So, while I see Bourdain’s point & understand his deep seated resentment (‘loathing’) you need to accept that not all women are ruthless users, not all deserve 2b deemed “useless”.

Addiction and depression are closely linked and are seated deep inside an individuals soul...modern meds and "counseling" never remove those fears from ones daily existence...Anthony dealt with his demons pretty well I'd think...a truly talented, intelligent and compassionate guy... I really enjoyed his
    work... Thanks Tony :))

colin ashby , Amen!!! Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ!!! AMEN!! All who ingest poison are self destructiing!!! You are so right what you have posted!!! The signs were always there!!! He had an unheard scream within!!! We war not again flesh and blood, it is all spiritual!!! The man was in madness, in need of deliverance from such!!! As Paul wrote, Oh wretched man that I am,who shall deliver me from the body of this death(thought of the carnal mind)??? For it is written for all to know and to believe......For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

I agree, I think addicts have messed up brain wiring somehow. His death reminded me of Philip Seymour Hoffman's death, albeit Hoffman's sounded like an accidental OD, but he'd been clean for decades and then started using again. Whatever it was that triggered Bourdain, he clearly didn't seem capable of getting help for it. There is also a lot of shame involved with addiction.

It is always so tragic when someone takes his/ her life. Jesus my Lord said it: what's worth it for a man to gain the worl, and loose his life. Life is too valuable. Theres only one that is interested in destroying human life , and he has an army of demons at his orders, Satan, aka the devil. Jesus is the answer my friends. May God bless you all. Please, if you're feeling hopeless, seek help in Jesus. He died and rose from the grave for you and me, to give us life abundant. He is alive today

Nice meeting you Abel. Everyone ultimately dies one way or another. It doesn't really matter how in the final analysis. No one way of exiting this world is superior to another, morally nor spiritually.
As a Christian, I believe it was God's will this man decided to exit on his own terms sooner rather than later. Neither of us are God thus not in any position to pass judgement upon a fellow human being. Suicide wouldn't be my personal choice but I have no idea what led him to make that final decision. You can be certain he had compelling reasons of some kind or other.
Perhaps 61 years of life on planet Earth was enough for him. In all honesty, I never liked nor was a fan of Anthony Bourdain. It's entirely obvious CNN pushed his personality and show to the point of ad nauseam. That, plus the fact he always impressed me as being too "full of himself" for my likes. All of that aside, I pray for his everlasting soul and wish him peace forever after now that he's in a far better place.
Christ our Lord still lives today thru each of us who believe and follow in his footsteps. We are his eyes, ears, arms, legs and everlasting spirit. He works thru all those of us who worship the sacred example of goodness and decency he set for humanity. The same can be said for any of our loved ones who've since passed on whose holy spirits have also ascended. The best parts of them will forever live onward thru each of us whose lives and souls they touched along the way.

Amen, Abel. And still they do not see ... I’m praying for the lost souls on here because they choose the lies of the great deceiver satan. He’s good at deception, he’s been at it for eons! But God made a way of escape for those who truly love Him. The faithful church will be raptured out of here at the correct time when God gives Jesus the go-ahead. Jesus Christ is the Way and the Life. Please. Seek Jesus now. The time is coming soon when you’ll want to, and it’ll be too late. No one is promised tomorrow. Maranatha, come quickly, sweet Lord!!!

That is not double life if he was talking about and quite open to write about it ! Not every addict kills himself, so we should just say that we don’t really know what happened ? Did he have any history of harming himself that the family knows about? Just wait till his mom or brother speaks out and stop digging out dirt on him. He was contributing as a wonderful human being while alive and now I hope he has peace and happiness that he rightfully deserves 🙏🏻🕊

Money, fame, success is not the need of man. It is to be reconciled to God. There is an adversary that wants to destroy men.The devil works in the mind and speaks to men.deceives them. To destroy themselves or others. Jesus died to destroy the works of the devil. Why did he not cry out to God? He left an 11 year old girl to cry her self to sleep and question the rest of her life.
