Also if you’re gonna be back in town we have a Gong Cha downtown near a Korean BBQ place called Young Pocha and also give Lahore Fusion BBQ (A Pakistani restaurant in Clayton park) too I just ordered from there twice this past week and it’s so good
I've never had a lobster roll in my life BUT I WANT TO! And I'd prefer to eat it in Canada because the fishing is more sustainable than in the US (see also: the amazing Gastropod podcast and their episode What the Shell? Cracking the Lobster’s Mysteries). Plus I'm here for the rest of the series! Happy New Year Martina!
Should be the next! I basically dove into research mode, and tried to find the most interesting spots to visit in Dartmouth and Halifax ( according to locals) so I hope some spots surprise you, and others you approve of my spots.
I grew up eating snow crab legs, never cared for lobster until I went to Cape Cod, MA. My husband took me to his favorite Lobster Roll place in a fish market. Very delicious.
When were you at the Canteen? There are so many different lobster seasons it's weird they wouldn't just buy from a processor in an area where it is in season. That would support and elevate more Nova Scotian fisheries. (for my south shore family, lobster season starts late November and is very important to the local industry)
Video, great. I want lobster rolls so bad right now. But also, Martina, your filming/editting skills are so on-point. This is one high quality video. If you're not already, definitely would love to see you consult for other creators.
The towns and the places to eat looked so lovely. And the food looked amazing. I am new subscriber to your channel. I am in the early stages of planning a trip for my birthday in June to visit Newfoundland (it will be my first time in Canada).
Hello Maddie, this is Martina! Welcome to the King Kogi community, so glad you found us. We’ve also filmed a Halifax food video, so February we should have it up. You are going to have an amazing time in Newfoundland, the absolute friendliest people, East Coast Canada.
@@KingKogi Hi Martina. Thank you so much for the welcome. I am so looking forward to my adventure to Canada, I have just come out of a really rough period in my life so planning this trip feels like a positive next step. I also may never want to leave Canada though.
OH! Hey!! There is a very sad backstory to the Shaw's Place. Swissair 111 was a flight from New York to Geneva that crashed in Saint Margaret's Bay in 1998. Mr Shaw's daughter was aboard it. He came to Nova Scotia to be near his daughter's last location. He says he is in the right place for the wrong reason.
Makes me so hungry to watch, real lobster is the best. Wish it were more accessible where I live haha. Love the food content from Canada. Every country you are in you find incredible places to visit and things to try. ❤️
Here in Wisconsin my family’s traditional crab salad is always with celery. I think it does pair well with the seafood like crab and lobster. It gives a fresh crunch to the texture.
My favourite spot for lobster rolls - and seafood in general - is Evans at the Alderney ferry terminal in Dartmouth. It's the best in the summer because you can sit outside and watch the ferries coming and going.
I had a lobster roll at Chelsea Flower Show in London. It was criminally expensive but I would love to try it again one day in a seaside town. Also I am SO PUMPED for this new series. I have read a few (romance) books set in fishing/oyster communities and want to learn more about the food. I cannot wait! Thanks Martina!
Hurrah! I'm loving Detective Beaver, the jokes just flow right out of me when I'm in my Beaver form. Just like Hackerwoman. So happy we're on the same humour page~
Love this video Also totally get the excitement for ferries in everyyday life. Grew up in a small town far away from water so not too much boat action going on.
An enjoyable video. Our late father did not like mayo so, we made lobster rolls at home by mixing the lobster with a bit of lemon juice and oil, lettuce and salt and pepper. Then served it in a buttered, grilled hot dog buns. Delicious.
ah esquire is my local go to!! im in bedford and i looove all their food and their breakfast is super cozy comfort food, there also happens to be a fantastic european bakery & coffee roaster across the street as well as the only korean grocery thats actually well stocked! was just there with my grandma like 2-3 weeks ago :)
Yum! I'm so jealous. Here in the middle of Arizona the closest we get to lobster are their cousins, the spider. Which we definitely don't smother in butter or put in rolls ;)
I love lobster rolls. We are very fortunate we have a fantastic lobster roll truck in okanagan BC. His family are lobster fisherman from Newfoundland and he gets it directly from them.
I didn’t have the $50 lobster meals, but these were also pricey to be honest. Between $18-22 for one roll! But I am happy to at least support the local fisherman 🦞
The first time I had lobster was in Long Beach, California, where they hosted an annual lobster boil festival! I got a whole, freshly boiled lobster with melted butter, and it was incredible
@@KingKogi Great! Lots of great spots to eat in Halifax & Dartmouth so more likely I will just be adding to my list of places to try rather than approving your choices! hah. I live on the North Shore of NS so don't get to the Halifax area often enough to try everything!

Swissair 111 was a flight from New York
to Geneva that crashed in Saint Margaret's Bay in 1998.
Thank you for visitng this place. I've always wanted to go and it's so nice to see the island being filmed.
Will Kotone eat the lobster roll?
Detective Beaver makes me laugh so much - probably more than it should ! I love this video my type of humour has been met
Hurrah! I'm loving Detective Beaver, the jokes just flow right out of me when I'm in my Beaver form. Just like Hackerwoman. So happy we're on the same humour page~
Love this video
Also totally get the excitement for ferries in everyyday life. Grew up in a small town far away from water so not too much boat action going on.
Yum! I love lobster rolls! Because I live in landlocked Colorado, I order lobster roll kits for special occasions. It’s such a delicious treat.
He's a LOBST🌟 R! Possibly a ROCK LOBST🌟R! 🎸
*dances*
It wasn't a rock
@@shpeen8835 No, he was a B-52
An enjoyable video.
Our late father did not like mayo so, we made lobster rolls at home by mixing the lobster with a bit of lemon juice and oil, lettuce and salt and pepper. Then served it in a buttered, grilled hot dog buns. Delicious.
That sounds amazing! And a no to celery as well 😂
OMG you're where I live!!! I am a looooooong time viewer and I couldn't believe when the video started and it said NS!
Great video Martina! Im so looking forward to the adventures we're going to take in 2025
This is just the beginning! I have so many new ideas for cooking videos too~
ah esquire is my local go to!! im in bedford and i looove all their food and their breakfast is super cozy comfort food, there also happens to be a fantastic european bakery & coffee roaster across the street as well as the only korean grocery thats actually well stocked! was just there with my grandma like 2-3 weeks ago :)
Yum! I'm so jealous. Here in the middle of Arizona the closest we get to lobster are their cousins, the spider. Which we definitely don't smother in butter or put in rolls ;)
Maybe one day we can do a cross-country spider roll food tour? 😂
I love lobster rolls. We are very fortunate we have a fantastic lobster roll truck in okanagan BC. His family are lobster fisherman from Newfoundland and he gets it directly from them.
That’s so amazing! I really felt indulgent having TWO in one year haha 🤣 I can’t imagine having easy access to them!
This was so lovely to watch and enjoy from afar... sigh... unfortunately my empty pockets could never afford the $50+ lobster meals!!
Yes Nova Scotia love! I'm so excited you were here!❤❤❤
This Nova Scotian foodie is so excited you were here!!!
Yay, of course we filmed a big foodie video on Dartmouth and Halifax, so I can’t wait to see if I picked out places you approve!
@@KingKogi Great! Lots of great spots to eat in Halifax & Dartmouth so more likely I will just be adding to my list of places to try rather than approving your choices! hah. I live on the North Shore of NS so don't get to the Halifax area often enough to try everything!
Love watching these videos while i eat my cereal for breakfast. I should really try a lobster roll the next time they're in season!
