Martina, my experience with lobster rolls is limited too. My first official lobster roll was in 2018, made by my best friend on Martha's Vineyard Island with lobster she helped catch herself. Mayonnaise may be overpowering for me, overshadowing intended flavors, which is why I stay away from it on sandwiches or in coleslaw. I prefer more vinegar and veggies in my lobster salad, to cut the butteriness of the meat.
Let it be know that I learned Martina's only hated food today: celery. And also that there is another dirty acronym (that stands for something innocuous and still fun) to be found here with BAPS. Also, hello there Detective Beaver and Constable Kogi for the Incogni sponsorship ad.

I'll always miss your Japan videos (and look forward to them when they appear!) but this feels like so much of the same in the _best_ way. If you ever need help with captioning, I'd love to help out. 🖤 The AI really struggled one this one - too many yummy foods for it to catch!

    • @TheIrishAlchemist205
      @TheIrishAlchemist205 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@KingKogi There's always Amara, as TH-cam's "official" recommendation, but that takes away from TH-cam community interaction. Otherwise it might take "bringing on" volunteers? Even in such a way as someone who watches listens and writes a transcript, then sends to you to upload and have TH-cam timecode? If you feed TH-cam a script after uploading, it can usually do a very good job matching it up. Boy do I miss the community captioning days...
Maybe could have folks have a separate channel in Discord or something? :) I was watching Tasting History the other day for the first time and he had something in the credits/description "Captioning by so-and-so" - not like a company but a user/watcher/community member it seemed. Maybe something like that?

When were you at the Canteen? There are so many different lobster seasons it's weird they wouldn't just buy from a processor in an area where it is in season. That would support and elevate more Nova Scotian fisheries. (for my south shore family, lobster season starts late November and is very important to the local industry)

The towns and the places to eat looked so lovely. And the food looked amazing.
I am new subscriber to your channel. I am in the early stages of planning a trip for my birthday in June to visit Newfoundland (it will be my first time in Canada).

Hello Maddie, this is Martina! Welcome to the King Kogi community, so glad you found us. We’ve also filmed a Halifax food video, so February we should have it up. You are going to have an amazing time in Newfoundland, the absolute friendliest people, East Coast Canada.

@@KingKogi Hi Martina. Thank you so much for the welcome. I am so looking forward to my adventure to Canada, I have just come out of a really rough period in my life so planning this trip feels like a positive next step. I also may never want to leave Canada though.

OH! Hey!! There is a very sad backstory to the Shaw's Place. Swissair 111 was a flight from New York
to Geneva that crashed in Saint Margaret's Bay in 1998. Mr Shaw's daughter was aboard it.
He came to Nova Scotia to be near his daughter's last location. He says he is in the right place for the wrong reason.

Here in Wisconsin my family’s traditional crab salad is always with celery. I think it does pair well with the seafood like crab and lobster. It gives a fresh crunch to the texture.

My favourite spot for lobster rolls - and seafood in general - is Evans at the Alderney ferry terminal in Dartmouth. It's the best in the summer because you can sit outside and watch the ferries coming and going.

I had a lobster roll at Chelsea Flower Show in London. It was criminally expensive but I would love to try it again one day in a seaside town. Also I am SO PUMPED for this new series. I have read a few (romance) books set in fishing/oyster communities and want to learn more about the food. I cannot wait! Thanks Martina!

Also totally get the excitement for ferries in everyyday life. Grew up in a small town far away from water so not too much boat action going on.

    An enjoyable video.
Our late father did not like mayo so, we made lobster rolls at home by mixing the lobster with a bit of lemon juice and oil, lettuce and salt and pepper. Then served it in a buttered, grilled hot dog buns. Delicious.
