Merveilleux Michael Guielen . Lecture minérale,sans le tapage propre à certains chefs meme grands. Tout est beau,clair,net. Élégance et justesse. Il faut écouter aussi ses interpretations de Malher,surtout la Symphonie 2...Sa famille juive a fui le nazisme pour se réfugier à Bueno Aires....on imagine tous les talents qui n’ont pas pu fuir à temps

Why do most recordings of the 2nd sound lackadaisical when they can sound like this instead? The sound (TH-cam? the original recording engineering? probably not the performance, given Gielen being known for precision) makes some of the transitions from one phrase to another sound a bit muddled, but I'll put up with that. This 2nd fits nicely into a Beethoven cycle rather than being an interruption where you wait to get back to the good stuff.

Orchester und Dirigent hervorragend. Die Kameraführung ist mir allerdings zu sprunghaft. Und warum zeigt sie geschätzt 300 mal die Blondine hinten in der ersten Geige und nicht auch mal den Konzertmeister?
