Patience is the key. Keep up the cross training and the strength and conditioning and you will be back before you know it. There is always another marathon but you only have one body. Gotta take of it. Keep your chin up and best of luck with your recovery. Understand the frustration!
Thanks for the comment - all great advice and a helpful reminder. And I will do - got to be grateful for what I can do, and not focus too much on what I can’t!
@@clivegranger5284 Thanks Clive, appreciate it. I had thought about Newport previously, so thanks for the reminder. Do you know when it usually sells out by out of interest? I imagine Manchester would be a lot sooner, and would probably prefer something more low key anyway 👍🏼 All hypothetically, of course 😬
The importance of strengthening and conditioning for running grew on me as I recovered from my foot injury for thirteen weeks. Now I’m slowly getting faster but more importantly stronger with a stronger inner core S&P is now part of my training. Remember time is a healer but good video
Wow, 13 weeks is a long time, Mark! How did you find it? Glad to hear you’re back out there now 😊 And completely agree - I’ve been doing it for a couple of years now, but definitely not enough. Have to try to view this as a unique opportunity to really focus on the strength/conditioning side, get into good habits, and then reap the benefits when the running fitness returns 👍🏼
Hey NIck...I have just for four weeks ago had an injured foot and had not been running for 8 weeks and then started running again 4 weeks ago and I so much can recognize your thougts and feelings about the possibillity of the danger that I never will be running again but dear Nick YOU WILL BE RUNNING AGAIN I am sure just be so patient even if its hard.
@@ingagade951 Sorry to hear about your injury Inga, I think I will be on the sidelines for at least 8 weeks as well. But great that you are back running again now - and thanks for the reminder… time is a healer and, in the grand scheme of things, a few months is nothing!
A great video and sharing 8:34 how tough it can be when injured but making the correct choices. Best wishes in coming back stronger and achieving your sub 3hr marathon in the near fully fit future. Cheers
Only watched the intro so far but my advice is..... DO NOT RUSH. running is a long term thing. we want to be running marathons for the next few decades. Get rid of the mental pressure by telling yourself the sub 3 dream will come next year if needs be.
Hey Nick I have to answer you .....are the arm heart rate counter as precisely as the chest heart counter ? are the arm band cheaper than the chest counter ?'Is it more comfortable ? inga. You do it so fine Nick.
@@ingagade951 Hi Inga, I’ve been meaning to do a review of mine… so thanks for the reminder! I haven’t worn a chest one much, but it does seem pretty accurate and I do find the arm version more comfortable for sure. I think price is probably similar. This is a good video which persuaded me to go for the Polar Verity Sense in case you’re interested: m.th-cam.com/video/GYi77XAyyoA/w-d-xo.html

All the best with the recovery Nick. If you have to reset your goals you could consider a spring marathon in Newport, flat, fast and low key.
