The Guess who that put Canada on the Map in Rock and Roll and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame does not care. More #1 hits than allot of bands in the Hall of Fame. What a shame.
RRHF is a joke.
Hi, an American here, the US R & R HOF is a sham in numerous ways. Dictated by a small core of easter US elites. Agree that The Guess Who are as worthy as any US bands in our hall. The pride of Winnipeg, a great band!
@@CraftAero I agree with you there
Too canadian...
I'm in my 70s now and living in Michigan USA and I loved and remembered all of them 😅
I’m an old guy - but I got to see everyone on this list multiple times,at arenas, theatres or bars thru the 70’s.
What an amazing time to be a teenager!
Getty Lee's voice makes my teeth chatter !
Outstanding! I started following pop music in 1976 and the first album I ever bought was Four Wheel Drive by BTO. I look forward to future segments covering other calendar years!
The Guess Who are not in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame and the rap group NWA is? It’s called appeasement. They should call it the Hall of Shame.🤨
Gino Vanelli's Storm at Sun up, released in 75 featuring the magnificient Where am I going, should be in that list
Rush and BTO for me
Heart too !
@@claudebuysse7482 Heart is an American band based in Seattle.
A great year for music!
A year before that, I saw Rush playing at the Colonial Tavern in Toronto......only John Rutsey was drumming then.
1975 was a fantastic time for 22-year-old me!
Yes, 1975 was an excellent year for 23 year old me!!! 😄
Nigel in Canada🇨🇦
KLAATU
FOOT N COLD WATER
1975 was a great year for music: prog rock, rock, soul, funk, R & B, singer-songwriters, country, pop, and so on! You could listen to ONE radio station in 1975 (for me, it was CFRA in Ottawa) and get servings of several genres! We were exposed to a wide variety of music on radio - something radio has long lost. Great video: lots of familiar faces & names of great Canadian singers & bands in a year almost owned by Elton John. Bachman & Cummings need to be in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame.
Too many American Women in the RNHF
The he'll with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. An old Hippie!
Caress of Steel is so underrated!!
Im proud to say i worked with most of these artists as well as other Canadian artists. Great era for music
Fun fact: Bill Wallace went on to found a new band called Les Q which evolved into Kilowatt. They never achieved success outside of the local area. There are no video clips of the band online whatsoever that I've found, and they're a bit hard to find unless you know what you're looking for. The only reason I even know they exist is because my family had an old tape recording off of the radio from the 1980s which introduced a new song from a band called Kilowatt called "Lovers On The Run". For years I had no idea who that was and I couldn't find anything out about them. There are two versions of the song, the one I heard was the demo version (which is arguably better), but there is also a studio version that was released on their debut studio album. They made two albums and that's all I really know about them.
Doood...u left out trooper .. tsk tsk
Trooper had to honour their contract and play my highschool in 1976. They had just released 2 for the show
Trooper
Loverboy
Triumph
Edward Bear
There's a neat album by lynx ..who did a single album .. I liked it.. I found out they scattered to other bands...theres some good tunes on it...dollars ...and others.. they are connected to goddo .. fludd and others. I think it's worth a mention. 🙂
I remember going to the Mclaughlin Planetarium to see a 2112 Rush album, didn't know Murray owned the place 😅
No Mahogany Rush?
the greatest guitarist no one has ever heard of Frank Marino
That was a great list of pure talent, had all stampeders albums, all April wine albums, plus at least one album by the rest of this amazing list, great post john🎉
Thanks Ronnie. Much appreciated.
🤨
🤔
No *"Triumph"?*
Or *"The Band"?*
*"Prism"?*
.... *"Trooper"?*
😒
I guess Stompin' Tom Connors, was, slowing down a bit round about then😐
Exactly! Why was The Band missing from this list? One of their best albums, "Northern Lights - Southern Cross" came out in 1975!
I think rock n roll machine didn't come out until 77
keep these coming !
April Wine
Nature of the beast
Just between you & me
You are the only person I've heard pronounce Mr. Pearts name correctly.
We had joy, we had fun , we had seasons in the sun - Terry Jack's ? . . Sitting on a corner of her bed, in a small rented room in Montreal - Trooper
A girlfriend of mine used to sing "we had joy, we had fun sticking fingers in our bum."
Gino Vanelli is underrated
Gordon Lightfoot is actually not rock and roll but folk music , but he's one of the absolute very best folk artists
The golden age of Canadian music. Although helped along by cancon no doubt...
It was an exciting time, especially for a teenager. Thanks for watching.
Except that cancan was meant to help relative unknowns, but really largely meant that you mostly heard hits from successful artists.
CanCon was simply a Canadian response to Payola. You can easily argue that a lot of American artists would never have been heard of if it weren’t for payola. Does it really matter what it took to get the music to a mass audience if the music ultimately was great?
If memory serves, Domenic Troiano briefly replaced Joe Walsh in The James Gang when Joe decided to go out on his own.
What about Michel Pagliaro who was the best seller everywere in Canada including Québec ? A couple of international Hits like Rainshowers , Love ain't easy or What the hell i got. He was the first to receive a gold album in the two languages and probably the last until CÉÉÉLLLINE Dion...You list is ok but i saw Mahogany Rush and April Wine in the same show and both were awesome. Harmonium was great too , une cinquième saison was in all the ears in Québec during that era...
But for me the best of the best in that period is Neil Young. Period.
Pagliaro had some truly wonderful songs.
Who?
Never heard of this person.
I lived in Montreal when I was younger. My father loves Pigliaro.
@@bricefleckenstein9666 Where did you live in the seventies ? Rainshowers , Some sings , some dance were big hits all around the world. "J'entends frapper " is a hymn in Quebec...much more than April Wine or Chilliwack. Try them and taste...
Mr. Beaudin; I have a question RE: Murray MacLachlan? Is he related 2 Sarah MacLachlan (best know 4 "Building A Mystery" & "Adia")?
I can't believe you didn't have Mahogany Rush. You know, Frank Marino on guitar and vocals. Geez.
He was a great Canadian legend gorden lightfoot
Who is playing this extended background music?
Different world, Most of these songs were "current" hits or at least still in heavy rotation even in the 80's when I was growing up. No album has a shelf life of five or eight years anymore.
Never heard of these...
Max Webster!
Wheres lighthouse?
Hey didn’t you do MTV or something?!!
rush #6?? after releasing 2 albums in one year?? your list is a joke
Plus Neil joined them that year
Anyone that knows rock knows BTO, Gordon, Joni, Neil, the Guess Who and Rush. Most would know April Wine, though they were more straight-up pop than rock.
Murray McLauchlan. The Stampeders, and Chilliwack I've never heard OF before this video - where were they allegedly "owning 1975"?
I can't disagree with whos on your list at all, mind you I probably had all these albums, but I think in retrospect Caress Of Steel got a bad rap, it's aged well and I'd have put BTO higher.
Forgot trooper
Harmonium,FM.
Maybe should've named the vid the same as how you put it in the video. "Acts" not "Rockers". Gordon Lightfoot was never a rocker. Both he and Joni would probably better be considered "folk".
Possibly using the definition of “rock” that Jann Wenner is using when he inducts Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Great talents; not rockers. Not sure what criteria he is using to keep The Guess Who out.
Offenbach!!!!
No Gino Vannelli are you nuts 🥜
we have the BEST MUSICIANS here in Canada!! Bar none!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the 70's belonged to the Brits, and Acca Dacca! Of course Zeppelin strode the 70's, and for that matter from then on as Gods! Canada did have some great bands, Guess Who, obviously Heart, Loverboy, but Aus had some great ones too. So perhaps we should say The Commonwealth ruled the 70's!!!
You had yours, we had ours ..😊
BTO formed before the Guess Who broke up?
Yes , Randy Bachmann left the Guess Who in 1970
Yes. Randy Bachman left the Guess Who in 1970.
Randy Bachman left the Guess Who after American Woman in 1970. He was replaced by Kurt Winter and Greg Leskiw. The Guess Who changed a few more members but carried on until 1975. Bachman released an album in1971 with the band Brave Belt. Fred Turner joined the band shortly after and by 1973 released the first Bachman Turner Overdrive album.
The Bachmans left the Guess Who before the Guess Who broke up, creative differences IIRC.
They wanted to do "harder" rock.
Long before. Randy left the Guess Who after American Woman and formed Brave Belt which became BTO. Most Guess Who hits came after he left.
Well there was one trio that was mistaken to be the Beatles when they released an anonymous album. Can you guess?
Neil Young? 🤦
Crap. No Trooper, Prism, etc.? Half of your choices were folk singers ffs.
I hate The Guess Who
Only one Canadian group became a real thing. Yes, RUSH. Rest of those artists are history, especially commieboy Neil Young.
Niel Young 🤮
Perhaps you are right … I’ve never heard and of Niel Young’s music. Neil Young, on the other hand, has a musical anthology that makes almost all other artists seem like one hit wonders 😂😂😂.
