I like to think that I would be a little too paranoid that one of the loops I did something horrible in would break the loop and then I'd be stuck with the actual consequences... but after enough time, you probably stop caring
Yeah, in a lot of storys they realize the reason why the loop ever started and then stop it by doing or not doing something, but I always thought what would happen if the loop had a random end trigger or multiple end triggers and now you are stuck in that time line
right, it would actually be pretty horrifying if someone had that power, trap you in a time loop, then wait untill you do specificly what they want.
Yes, that's what I thought about in Groundhog Day, that one of those worlds you would have copy and they would have to live with the consequences of your actions

I think the most impressive part of this story is that Olivia managed to say "Good morning, if it isn't my most favorite coworker ever" 528 days in a row so similarly every time that she tricked Ellen into thinking she was part of the loop.
Even if she said it in a slightly different manner sometimes, that could just be because of Ellen entering the room at different times.

@@moathwhede3050 It's actually because our brains require stimulation, so if we don't get it, we'll start to have a mental breakdown. Our brains will go through irreversible damage after some amount of time without stimulation.
I was expecting for the time loop to break after the coworker was murdered, I'm actually kind of glad that didn't happen.

Honestly, I feel like the game would have just benefited from having a point where Ellen grows bored of even killing her. Lots of directions to go with that, but ultimately the main thing would just be to extend what's happening and add depth. But of course, this was a Game Jam game. It had to just have a simple ending, which makes sense. I just wish we could get an expanded game.

Funnily enough I think they tried to have Olivia explain but Ellen always kills her before she could. Every death message has some sort of line where whatever Ellen does makes Olivia unable to talk.

The protag does not kill her before she can explain because there is no time loop and she isn't dying which was stated... So she could have explained at any time. I understand your logic though since this is so absurd.

Wow I really wasn’t expecting that ending, I like how the story wasn’t all hidden like how in other games you’re left to figure things out (which I still do like trying to figure things out it’s just refreshing for a story to be straight forward.)

Only complaint with this game is that Ellen came off as a heartless jerk in the beginning since we didn't spend enough time for us to feel their descent into madness and frustration to the point they'd repeatedly kill someone innocent, but it was made for a Game Jam so the developers probably didn't have time to give more context. That's so minor in comparison to the actual contents, though! Surprisingly adorable and has a well thought out story. 10/10
100% agree. I understand why it’s not there. It’s a game jam so obviously time is not your friend. But the moment she opened her mouth I was like “alright edgelord. Go kill the nice girl cuz your so ‘different’.” But all in all it still did put a fun twist to the time loop story plot. (Meaning it wasn’t even a time loop in the first place which is pretty cool). Plus the art style is extremely cute and endearing.
It reminds me of a manga I read once. Although it goes a little different. It's about two yandere girls who are in love. It's about exactly as cheesy as it sounds, but I still enjoyed it.

Some build-up to the feelings of murder would be awesome.
You know this story starts to break when you realize Olivia has been withholding information and influencing Ellen into killing her the whole time? Since Olivia can't feel pain the fact she screams and acts unaware of what Ellen is doing/planning is just allowing her to give into her delusion. Like under that context Olivia was just at fault and whether that was her being an Android or overly considerate who knows. At some point Olivia upon noticing how Ellen was suffering should have tried to get her to open up or vice versa.
The saccharine backstory of the 2 lovers is laughable when you realize that Olivia effectively gaslighted the protagonist into insanity and being a murderer.

The whole story is just hung on some really flimsy and vaguely disturbing logic that doesn't work when held up to more than cursory inspection.

This one reminds me of those "Kill your X" games like "Kill your boss" and "Kill your neighbor" that always had super creative kills.
Though, for me, the best part is Manly reading those same lines over and over in the exact same tone. It's crazy how he can read a line to make it sound BOTH sincere AND mocking all at once!

And now, quite LITERALLY living an Undead life, you both gonna stay together, Travelling the world, HOPEFULLY without Ellen abusing Olivia again.

Given that she thought she was in a time loop for over a year, I'm surprised nothing to suggest something else was going on happened before the murdering part. Like she listened to the radio to make sure the day was repeating but like, I feel like you'd also start off smaller with pushing the bounds. Like saying some really out of character stuff or just trashing the office or simply not showing up to work etc. Olivia is 100% to blame for not saying shit sooner
She assumed Ellen reset every day, so she never bothered. She told her the truth when Ellen revealed she remembered.
to be fair to Olivia, she thought Ellen couldn’t even remember the day before, which is why she didn’t explain anything. what’s the point, if you’ll just have to explain the same thing every single day for the foreseeable future?
the whole situation could have been resolved if Ellen had just talked to Olivia about the potential time loop, letting her know that Ellen does actually keep her memories from day to day, but instead, it seems like Ellen wrote Olivia off immediately as just some annoyance making the time loop more insufferable. the second I realized that, I lost all respect for Ellen lmao. it feels like she didn’t even TRY to take a non-violent option before going full slasher movie villain on the only other person trapped in the situation with her, because she just assumed she already knew how everything worked, which makes her come across as either a dumbass, a jackass, or a dumb jackass.
still, Olivia could have done something once Ellen started getting murder happy. personally, I think she should have left Ellen there alone (because if one of Ellen’s murders stuck, Olivia would have been gone anyways, right?), but even just… not cleaning up after Ellen after her murder attempts would have been enough. I feel like Olivia wasn’t given a great reason for keeping the time loop charade going after the murders started, just like how Ellen wasn’t given a great reason for why she didn’t talk to the other person seemingly caught in this time loop outside of “I think she’s annoying”.

Unironically kinda seen the twist ending from miles away but for a gamejam project it at least end somewhat satisfyingly and it's definitely can be expanded further or be source of inspiration for other creatives.

The weird thing to me is that we skipped the part where she tries to explain she's in a time loop to get help to attempt to solve it. Instead we're at the part where murder is non consequencial and abused a plenty.
But hey, at the ending was nice, I'm too used for these kind of games just going the darker path.
I sorta assume that early on, she was forced to stay in the place by the sister. then, after she was able to leave, she had the mentioned memory loss and started to fill in the gaps herself.
My theory is that Olivia lied about not feeling pain , she reacts to it clearly. But she's so deeply in love that she'll lie to ensure the one she loves doesn't feel to bad. And with how damage can transfer over days I think it's not a time loop either just a virtual reality for these immortal ai based on real people. Kinda like a video game and a lot of video games actively show damage on skin if you haven't died and respawned yet .
The lesson here is: if you're stuck in a time-loop, don't go to work.

One of the rare few times where I actually stopped the video to play the game myself. Loved the twist ending, and I also love that there are a few clues here and there that tell you at least partially what's going on before the true end. Spoilers:
Now I kinda want to see what adventures those two end up in within Unster's memories. Also at the end there when you wonder why they couldn't leave at all and why the android Olivia didn't tell Ellen the truth: Pretty positive it was Unster's sister who was keeping them there. When you interact with the window Ellen says it can't be opened. Makes sense that Unster's sister programmed it not to be openable and probably programmed Android Olivia to not tell the truth. But when Unster's sister ended the experiments, perhaps she dropped all of those programs. Probably also why Android Olivia has the bruises around her neck instead of cleaning it up like her many other (and more damaging) injuries.

I'm kinda interested in hearing the explanation in why lady chose to keep coming to office instead of just quit coming to work. if I believed I was in a time loop. that transition between her apartment and her office doesn't make it clear if she has a commute to get to work or if the work office is in the same building .

For what started as a psychotic spin on the Kindergarten game, this became really tragic with that line. One android didn't feel alive enough to care about their existence in the least, yet stayed to keep another one 'company'. Weird, and even sadder perhaps, was that that other android was able to feel helpless, hopeless, and resorted to unnecessary murder just to spice up their endless days. I wonder about that window at the end... it reminded me of the ending of Angels of Death. A really sad little game.

Needed this game as I work with a colleague who suddenly turned against me and bullied me with another (former) colleague. Never forgiven her for it and I pray for the day bad karma comes her way.... yet the thought of being stuck in a time loop with her would drive me insane.

So a short story from Nier automata comes to mind.
Spoilers for, well, Nier automata
So there's actually an android on the moonbase and it's many, many pods running it. She realizes her hand is injured and doesn't remember when and from there makes a plan to leave the base and figure out what's going on. As she leaves she finds out that there are no humans, has a mental breakdown, and then is shot to death by the hundreds of pods. I think. Regardless, she dies and the pods mention that this was like the 107th time she's done this. The broken hand was a result of the previous time.

Well, I mean, the main story is also pretty much the same. What with 2B being an assassin assigned to 9S to kill him when he inevitably discovers the truth about the war, like he always does.
Technically, this ending is kinda of a bad one cuz in the end you are left with an android who can't really feel emotions and you are stuck there forever since Olivia's sister left this program cuz she reached a satisfying point and yeah... kinda sad a little bit
She mentioned that she can't feel pain, but where did she say she couldn't feel emotion
Its a good game! Despite having an empty trashcan I love the aesthetic and the story lowkey gives me Nier Automata vibes at certain parts especially that last death

I had a general idea where the games was going, it was pretty easy to figure it out since the beginning (of course, not entirely), but this game is so charming and manly's voice is so calm that it just made me enjoy every part of it
I just help myself and laugh at every time Manly says “like me soul” at the mere sight or mention of something is empty and it makes every video last scary then it needs to be 😂😂😂😂

I have an extreme fear of this, being stuck in a loop, a world without any changes, just... the same everyday, it looks like you are stuck in a stopped time, a timeline at it's end, i just hate thinking about it.
The whole time I was like why not just be friends or lovers everyday instead? So the end was strangely wholesome

They did very well at making me annoyed the moment Olivia started talking
Okaaay, I have some questions... Were they stuck in some facility so that the sister could control Ellen's world view enough to make her think she was in a time loop? Otherwise the commute to and from work would have been different everyday, it also means Ellen never tried to do anything else other than going to work either. The end makes it seem like they can leave at anytime so as long as Ellen had fell asleep anywhere else but home would of shown there was no loop. though saying all that, she could have easily have been programmed not to do any of that and to follow a set path each day. Still all it would take is a simple mark or small stain made one day and still being there the next to clue you in.
I think it was a simulation. Olivia did mention they were travelling in Unster's memories.

Man, if TH-cam's really gonna start bringing the hammer down for simple video game gore, a lot of my favorite channels are going to have a hard time simply existing without loads of added edit time for censorship. Really ridiculous stuff.
I've got my network on it to figure out what's going on but till I get answers directly from a source I have to take random educated guesses what rule they changed since they didn't update the rules (or it's a bug in their system they don't want to admit) as there was a good month they were wiping out almost all of my comments including mine on my channel and said there was no issue, till I had my network talk directly to them and then it became "oops we fixed it" without much explanation lol.

I agree about the ending being abrupt. It would have been great if the "I want to travel the world" announcement was followed by you both needing to actually escape the facility. Not necessarily running from guards etc., since Olivia said your "supervisor" had abandoned you, but more completing object puzzles to overcome obstacles. It would also have given a bit of closure, since Ellen is actually exerting herself to help Olivia achieve her dream.
And going through the facility would give lots of opportunities for conversations between the two, elaborating on the story, giving background, etc.
In short, it's a pity this game probably won't get expanded, because I think there's a lot of potential here.
This story broke down real quick when they could have just left at any point. Pretty bad way to go about it especially given the emotional aspects also just kind of went out the window as well.

They could have added that there were protocols that the Android had for continuing it but after repeated “loops” it stopped working so that ending was her finally being able to talk for real.

in this scenario, since we don't see her descent into madness
it makes her come off as a heartless jerk and Olivia the one worth
rooting for, No matter how bored I got in a time loop I couldn't commit to that.
However as manly said it was a gamejam game so they probably didn't have the time.
But I'm purely on Olivia's side and wish nothing but the worst for Ellen ^_^

The Android doesn't have human emotions or sanity
Before getting to the ending, I had this thought that maybe Ellen would have reached a point where she would stop killing Olivia and resort to reflecting on herself. I thought she would then pick up from that and ask Olivia thoughtful questions about their life and their relative relationship with one another. Doing so in order to piece together how she might have ended up in the time loop situation. But then the ending came and the pay off wasn't as good as I wanted it to be.
Another idea I had that I think would have been interesting is to have an alternate final ending where Ellen attempts a kill but Ellen is miscalculated and ends up dying instead. I think that could lead somewhere interesting. The context following would be that she finds out she's an android and falls into further mental instability because she rejects herself.
"Black and white jam" made me think of what actual jam that was black and white would taste like.. 🤔😅

I suspected that Olivia _also_ knew about the "time loop," but I certainly didn't suspect their _real_ identities. Very intriguing game concept and excellent execution (no pun intended 😅)!
Loving the monochrome artstyle.
Some fun deaths, especially the umbrella one. I'd have liked if the true ending was longer, or perhaps we get a sort of prologue showing Ellen's first few loops so we see what she was originally like but I can chalk those up to the Game Jam nature. This was still interesting.
