During your descent leave cruise power in and take advantage the extra airspeed. Only reduce power to stay below the redline (Vne) or to stay out of the yellow arc if in turbulence.
The last view is the RL view. The 170 has great forward vis. You should be able too see the end of the cowling .The carb heat is normal, the carb temp gauge I think is a mod.
Looking at the style of the handbook and the way the people pictured are dressed, when this aircraft was current, it looks like manufactures hoped ownership would be as common as a family car…like the ease of operation and convenience would mean they would be commonplace. I guess then things like litigation and manufacturers’ liability put an end to that. We need the Luscombe Silvaire to go with this.
You CAN fly with the window open, i do it all the time. Turn aircraft stress damage off, since it isnt realistsic anyway.
