  • This is a video of my 800 watt under seat subwoofer by ROCKVILLE. It is an awesome subwoofer!. Bass sound clean and nice. It rattles my jeep!. I need to locate and minimize the rattling. It is not coming from the SUB but from everything the SUB is rattling! The link is below if you want to read more about this SUB. Thanks for watching and thank you always for your support.

    Man I’m so happy I bought this setup, I have a 2015 JK and I spent the last week installing this Rockville 10” sub, a 2.5 farad battery cap, a set of MB quart component speakers powered by a 300w amp, and a new 7” CarPlay head unit. I can’t wait to finish it all up and hear how it sounds! Thanks for the review!!

      How did you tie in the capacitor? 12v into the cap and out to the sub?

    • @christianmojica1520
      @christianmojica1520 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joryaugustin7114 Yes, 12v 4-gauge from the battery, but I ran the power wire to a 1 in 2 out distributor so that I could run two 8-gauge wires; one to the cap then to the sub, the other to the amp powering the component speakers. You should ground the battery cap out separately so you don’t get that annoying feedback whistle from the electrical system.

    Considering this as I want something in small form factor that I can remove as needed, but something to bring the low end back up just a bit. I installed some Herculiner, 50 mil Kilmat, 4mm Siless close cell insulation foam and 12mm foam floor matting below the floor liners. Not to mention refurbishing the headliner, to which the roof got some Kilmat and Siless as well as the doors and rear quarters in my 4 liter powered 1987 Jeep Cherokee (XJ). Under the rear seats is where the leaf springs and shocks mount up to the body, which got the same noise reduction and insulation. I prefer to dampen noise and vibrations so that I'm not advertising that I got anything in my vehicle. My air conditioning will also not need to work as hard by making these quality of life improvements. Appreciate the in vehicle example starting time stamp @ 03:56

I put in a Bluetooth radio, two 3 way jbl 6x9s in the back and jbl 2 ways in the front kicker panels. Wanted more physical bass, so I just ordered these. I only have 3 inches of clearance under seats, and it's a sedan, so no open path to the trunk. Hoping to put it under my front bench(rear bench is to the ground). Planet audio is garbage lol if you had a true 1200 watt rms amp and 3 adequate subs for the specs of the amp and the box, you wouldn’t even be able to hear yourself think lol not knocking Rockville though I’m actually thinking about getting two of those to put under my front seats to get better bass response in the front of my car. And on that last comment spl is much higher when you put your subs all the way to the rear of your vehicle. That’s a cool ass set up though and I’m glad you were able to make your system suit your ears without taking up any space! Best review I’ve seen on the product for sure, I just wanted to let you know that you can get AMAZING sound out of a traditional sub setup however it’s a lot more “ticky-tacky” bc you need to make sure all the specifications are correct, and companies like planet audio and boss like to put high wattage rated products on the market for extremely cheap that usually aren’t even 1/4 of their rated power/rms. However Rockville is just a quality budget company owned by Rockford Fosgate and Rockford wouldn’t release garbage products and say their great like the other two companies I mentioned above lol. Again I liked your review though!

    • @rjguess
      @rjguess  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with you on the Planet Audio. I remembered back in the day when I was a teenager, my older brother was a pro at this stuff. He installed a sweet system in my old car and it was only 2 12 inch subs. Don't remember the brand but they sounded much better and more smooth than the Audio Planet stuff I had. Live and learn! Thanks for your comment and all the info you shared with me. I really appreciate that and I am glad this review was satisfying to you! Thats always a plus. I am still enjoying the Rockville.

      They arent owned by rockford fosgate. Its a company called audiosavings that sold dj equipment starting out, then they made their own house brand rockville. They are great for the money , but i wouldnt ever get them confused with rockford fosgate. Although they are overpriced, their quality of material, espeacially in their amps is far superior to rockville. Not saying they put out more power, just saying they last longer

      @@user-gh9dd1fm9d lol i heard that same thing , but they are not owned by rockford fosgate. I dont want you to think im being a smart a$$ , or just trying to pick at you, i heard that same thing for a while. It was on an amp dyno video on the budget gem or budget bust channel where i found out they werent. The rockford fosgate replied in the comment section of the video with a legal disclaimer stating that they were in no way affiliated with renagade company or any of their products. But rockville is a good budvet brand as you say , in a way. They have had some trouble from the basshead community calling them out on their subwoofers power ratings. It showed to be true that the subs they make cant handle what they say, but if you run them with an amp that is pushing half of their cea rating , they do good. They have good products for the money , they just cheaped out on some vital components so you have to be easy on them or you will blow them quickly.

    I just bought one of these for the wife's jeep and mounted it under the rear seat. Fit perfect. Awesome sound but can't get volume above 17 or the bass kinda downs itself out and falls flat on its face. What did you tune your settings to on the amp? Just curious. This thing for what it is sounds amazing on the low end. I wanted to get one for mine but my 10" jl I can crank it all the way up to 30 and it hits without skipping a beat. Just takes up to much space lol. Trying to see if there's a good setting to try out.

      I sold my jeep and I let the speaker go with it. I don’t remember the settings. But I know that I was able to turn my jeep volume up to 25 before I would get any distortion. You might try fading your radio a little bit more upfront so that when you turn it up the bass won’t be as distorted at higher volumes. I believe all the old equipment was lies. Planet audio doesn't do rated power so you were probably sharing like 700 watts MAYBE to you 3 mismatched subs 2 of which were also planet audio. There is no way that Rockville should be able to out perform 3 10s on actual 1000 watts.

    the 3 sound like crap because there is poly fill in a ported box take out the poly fill and face the subs to the back gate or leave the poly and block the ports off ether way would sound good.

    • @trollslayer8260
      @trollslayer8260 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it wouldnt help a bit. That box is way to small to be ported.the ports are so short and small vs the box volume it would only play midbass. His best chance for that box would be to invert the subs to gain airspace and seal off the port holes. I also noticed he had wires run to all the channels on the amp so it wasnt bridged to get all of the 250 ish watts coming from that planet audio turd . The rockville setup has the same fuse if im not mistaken they are both 25 amp and the rockville has a class d amp which could actually get close to 275 dynamically whereas the class a/b planet audio might get close to 250 but i doubt it.

      @rjguess  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol wish I would have known you before I built my box! I friend of mine helped me set it up. He has a very nice sound system so I thought he knew what was best. But it’s all good. I did need the space and the Rockville does what I want. Great info here. I will consider this if I build another box down the road sometime. Thank you!

    • @trollslayer8260
      @trollslayer8260 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rjguess 10s on average need around .60 cubic feet or more depending on the sub. If you ever build one just know that you can take your wxhxd measurements and divide that number by 1728 to tell you how much cubic feet your box is. Also remeber to subtract the thickness of the wood from your measure ments b4 you multiply your dimensions to get the true airspace needed. Or just get on the internet and find a sealed box made for your jeep and copy the dimensions off of the website and build your own lol. Ported boxes is a whole different animal, and as you seen by the box your friend built, its alot more complicated than that. You need about 16 sq inch of port area per cubic foot and then there is port length that dictates tuning, im rambling now, hit me up if you have any questions.

    Are all the subs in your old box firing into the same space inside the box??? No wonder it sounded like crap that is way to much air movement for that tiny box to handle besides each sub fighting with each other. There is no where for the air to go. Did you even see what is needed for each sub in square footage inside the enclosure?? Ported that box only needs 1 10" sub. plug two 10" holes and fire it up I bet you it will be a whole new animal with only one sub in the box. Back in the day I had a bandpass box with two 10's firing into one chamber and each 10" sub was mounted in a sealed chamber the port in the common chamber was 6"-8" in diameter and 10-12 inches long (been 25 years ago I just dont remember all the details) That box was my back seat in my 1972 BMW 2002. That box was designed around them speakers. Ported enclosures need more air space than sealed. Your box is lacking that with 3 10's.
    As far as the 10" compact powered sub they no longer make this one and the reviews on the new model are middle of the road around 3.5 stars out of 5.
