  • What's up GC fam! On Today's episode we install our second subwoofer in the jeep. This one is special, it's a 400w powered under seat subwoofer that is the perfect addition to our sound system. We chose this one due to the low cost and the ease of install! Rockville never disappoints when it comes to ready to play subwoofers out of the box! We show you how we wire the low level input, +12v, ground, and signal wire on our 2005 jeep wrangler TJ Rubicon! Please feel free to subscribe and check out some of our other videos if you're into jeep mods and builds! Cheers

    It is really amazing how much bass you get out of a 8" speaker under the pass seat. I have a ZR2 with the BOSE system, the sub really made it sound great.

    When I first saw y'all doing mods on your Jeeps, I thought it was pretty kool, but then I started paying attention to what y'all are trying to do. I couldn't help but to keep watching and wanting to do those things to my own Jeep JK. My husband has helped me out a lot with my mods and most of them came from watching y'all. I'm happy y'all continue to change your Jeeps even though you've done something similar. It's nice to know everything is interchangeable, like you don't want that look anymore and BOOM, new look. Thank you for being you.

    That's nice that a sub woofer is made to fit under the rear seat. I made my box with a 10" woofer in my rear seat. It's hidden and made with quick release wires so the seat can come out with ease. Kinda wish I looked around for this so I didn't hack my YJ rear seat. Nice install video 👍

    Great video! Santa brought me the same speaker. I do have to flip you shit about that socket set you have, it's time to upgrade haha. Quick tip for anyone running several different accessories, install a fuse block terminal. Run one line to the battery then all of your accessories from the block. Cleans things up and easy to add lights etc. Keep up the good work.

    I have been looking into putting a small sub in my TJ under the passengers seat . I don't use the back seat so installing it in that area isn't going to work for me . Nice install Greg and my only suggestion is to solder the wires instead of using crimp connectors . Take care and be safe guy's .

    A few things to improve. Your video was pretty good. I would ass some flex sleeve yo all the cables to protect them. Also add some high heat tessa tape to the power wire to add even more protection. The ground wire should be either a factory ground or a dedicated ground when the paint has been removed to allow for max contact. Lastly having the sub just loose under the seat is a fire hazard. Make a abs mounting plate that can be mounted to the seat bolts. It will provide a nice platform yo securely mount the amp. Best wishes on future installs.

Now back to Jeeps - thanks for this video as I just picked up the complete Polk Audio system for my 4 year CJ5 resto and I was looking at the Powered JBL Sub as an option for a little more Base that I can tuck away under my rear seat.
    Do you have any plans on upgrading your steering with a Hyrdo Assist... well do you have any plans for some off the grid adventures? I'm actually looking into the TaxaOutdoors WB trailer to tow behind my CJ.

      On a lighter note, we don't have any plans to updae to hydro assist, it hasn't been giving us any issues with the 38s. We hope to go off roading soon, but I've been working close to 80 hours each week (and only edited this minutes before it posted). Hope all is well! Cheers

    The RCA cables (that plug into the back of your aftermarket radio) are your low level inputs. The high level inputs would be if you connected speaker wires to the thin wires connected to the molex plug that has the power/ground/remote-turn on coming out of it, that snaps into the your powered (amp) subwoofer. Great videos, looking for the link to your beautiful wife.

    I'm actually looking for a Providence Group PCP. I got a letter from my PCP, two weeks ago, saying he's retiring. I spent a week at St. John's back in August, and it got frustrating that my Cedars PCP couldn't see my Providence Bloodwork; so, I'm looking for a Providence Internal or family doctor to be my new PCP. A bonus would be a doctor that knows about GWI; because, my numbers are all out of whack and GWI patients don't react well at all with vaccines; and, the VA denies 80% of GWI claims, including mine. I've got an awesome urologist; but, he's not familiar with GWI at all. Never heard of the damage a Soviet Bloc bullet does on the way out, after 30 years; which, is how I landed in St. John's, in the first place. BTW, nice wrench. Kinda looks like your logo.

    You can't actually get "Zapped" from 12v DC... You can touch both positive and negative terminals with your bare hands and you won't feel anything...
    Great video as always! Thank you guys for sharing!

      @@Garagecouple Be wary of bad advice from people that don't understand electricity. It's the current that zaps, not the voltage. I once wasn't paying attention and while removing a battery touched the positive terminal to ground through the wrench and the ring I was wearing. Big sparks, the ring ended up with a melted spot, and I had a nice blister around half my finger.

    Great vid guys! Curious how this powered sub compares to the stock TJ sub/amp. I’m considering this sub to possibly go in the center console or under the passenger as well, if it fits of course.
    Also you guys should look into the gear bags that attach between the roll bars or some molle bags for your recovery gear and tools.

    • @Garagecouple
      @Garagecouple  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the support! The powered amp is significantly louder and stronger than the upgraded center console sub. There is no comparison. If you can fit it it would be perfect! Thanks for the suggestion

    That space looks very tight. Subwoofers need to be able to move air (lots of air). That is the core of a subwoofers performance. I can't expect that to perform well that tight to the seat cushion. Just saying

    • @Garagecouple
      @Garagecouple  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It works really well! Plenty of air space around it to function properly!

    The wrangler is a horrible vehicle for any type of sound system simply because there’s no space and there’s just pieces of exposed metal panels all over the interior. But you did good boss. I’m glad you didn’t choose a 12 inch or a 15 inch.

    10:00 Are you guys getting sponsored now by Kirkland?! Haha! That is an interesting subwoofer - I have never seen one with a bass control, but I am not a 'car audio' guy. Sounds like it really pumps though! Does it get hot under the seat though?

    • @Garagecouple
      @Garagecouple  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the support! Would love to be sponsored by kirkland lol! It isn't going to rattle the bolts loose on the jeep, but it sounds night and day more full and lively now. I haven't noticed it getting warm, but I am sure it is at least getting just a little warm

    Shouldn't run power/ground/remote wires alongside any source signal wire ie R As or speaker wire. It induces interference...feedback & engine noise. Run all wires with current together & audio signal on the opposite side. I know, I know...y'all aren't professional mobile audio installers. Nevertheless, those are lil tidbits you should know before tackling a project that you're not well versed in.
    FYI... that crescent wrench still isn't the proper tool. A torque wrench is & just because You couldn't turn it doesn't mean it's torqued to spec. I don't think y'all realize what it takes to get 200 ft lbs of torque...at the end of the day it doesn't matter because anytime you install anything suspension related you should taken it in for an alignment & let the alignment shop torque it to spec.

    • @Garagecouple
      @Garagecouple  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We've been aligning our own jeeps for the better part of a decade. Never have had any issues. Also, there's a huge debate regarding running wires on the same side vs opposite side when using low level inputs. Aleens jeep, we tapped the speaker wire and ran it on the other side. This time around, the wires mostly run apart, in any case, 0 interference, 0 issues, it sounds perfect

    First wire is to the signal, If you missed it, go to another video. Second wire is to the output, if you missed it, go to another video. WTF!!!
    And if you can't get it done during the day, wait until the next day. I hate these into the night, bad lighting videos.
