Okay, I have to help you here. It is a cheap speaker, so who cares if it breaks. But cranking the bass boost doesn't do what you think. GENERALLY that knob is for a specific frequency... Why you ask? Oh goody, let me tell you. IF you test subwoofers they, for some reason, have two peaks in volume. some, for example, might be loudest at 30hz and 50hz... and teeter off on both ends, but 40hz is low too. IF you put the bass boost, up, AND if it's at 40hz, it can create a more even volume between 30 and 50hz, which is common for sub tones. so it shouldn't be cranked, it should be carefully tuned. you need special equipment for that.

Honest at 1/2 power it sounded pretty good musically. Need to sound dead'n your car from rattling though...NVX, Skar, and Stinger make these style self powered enclosures but they are more money and have better amp/sub in them. Great video...Bang for the buck that HYANKA does pretty good.

Ya'll are great! Thanks for stopping by and remember to use nice headphones or another subwoofer to hear the difference between on and off.

You should have used a horn loaded 7th order bandpass transmission line isobaric rotary free air setup, but whatever.

Matthew: "I need a headliner. Oh look, a compact subwoofer! ADD TO CART!"
Not that I blame you, a man has to have priorities.

I have been looking at these powered Subs as a solution to adding more Bass to my Ford Ranger but it's not my first rodeo and I can't help but feel that by hooking into a OEM head units high outputs and connecting a small sub is going to disappoint me.
Now, I found an under seat sub that has a channel to power a pair of speakers as well as the sub and I am sure I could fit two of these and use the second sub to power the rear speakers but these powered subs utilise the OG speaker cables and hook up via an ISO harness.... one time I simply changed the speaker wire on a totally stock car stereo and the sound quality was night and day different (for the better I may add) so that's another red flag for my OCD!
But dude i don't want to end up completely stripping my OEM stereo system out for diminishing returns and I have lost millions (slight exaggeration) on stereo kit that either didn't deliver on sound or ended up sold in the car it was fitted in.. I can see these under seat speakers becoming meth and leading me to a bigger and more expensive install!

Dont even use bass boost. The knob is for gain only. Id avoid this type of unit all together unless the only possible spot is under a seat

Good car, safe, reliable. Then Volvo did something around 25 years ago, the contracted with Dynaudio for the sound systems (upgrade naturally) for what was "the best" sound system in the car industry. Dynaudio = handmade in the Netherlands, not China. Crazy good speakers. Then around 2015, Volvo dropped Dynaudio, not even replacing them. So Volvo was "The King" in OEM car audio, but have spent more time as "the jokester of the court". Did I mention Volvo's are safe cars? So Yes upgrading the Volvo stereo is a good thing. I can't stand to drive a car without a great sounding stereo. You need something for the traffic. lol

Haha couldn’t agree more, also have you considered that Volvos are safe cars? I’m even at the point of just an “ok” sounding audio system - those original front 3” speakers crack and pop louder than the play music haha

Absolutely no possibility that is 400w.

It's been tested at slightly above 400w, RMS is slightly higher than advertised also.
