When I was 18 I had graded to 1st Kyu. Kizami Zuki was always my favourite technique in sparing. Anyway the fighting combinations in the style I learn is heavy on using this technique. So a guy in a Night Club one evening much older than me started a fight and I was able to knock him out cold with this single technique. Suffice to say I didn't get bothered again. My secret is I would always remain very relaxed and then spring fwd off my front foot, using my back leg to propel me fwd with my head straight, I keep my front arm low and only lift up and lock in position when I hit the target. Only then do you tense up and push. You have to be quick because this technique leaves your face exposed, but its more of a beat the guy to the punch technique.

I like the way the man in the blue gloves explained it. My style calls it independent motion or weapon first and has been doing it that way since the 1970s, We also use it for the reverse punch and other techniques.
the reason why: using kizami tsuki is easier than gyaku tsuki + attacks on the face are always unexpected + the hand you are using for kizami tsuki is the closest to your opponent
“No motion” is similar, but not exactly the same as “no telegraphing”. No “telegraphing” means don’t make any unnecessary moves before your attack. For example, don’t start your attack by turning your front foot. That is a telegraph, alerting your opponent that you are going to attack. In reality, when you turn your front foot that IS the beginning of your attack and, if someone liked Irimi (as I do) they can counter before your punch or kick actually begins or at least before your attack is effective. In my opinion, if you can move your body straight in toward your opponent without any telegraph your closing Ma is quite difficult for your opponent to perceive. Think of standing on a railroad track with a train in the distance. Is it moving toward you or not? It takes a while to decide if it is moving forward, back or not at all. If, however, you are the same distance away with the train on a track perpendicular to you, it is very easy to see if it is moving to the left, right or not at all. When I judge Kyu tests, I usually spend most of my time looking at their feet to see how badly they telegraph their movements. Another good video!
The reason why his puch was as effective as it was is because he screamed at the point of contact, dropped his arms in spastic celebration to get the Judge's attention while his opponent caught him with a more effective counter punch, though because of the contact level neither was actually a punch per say but more like a LARP attack... which explains the rule set they were competing with.
Fair point, but that’s what this sport is all about. The speed of the punch and their ability to hop in and out of range so quickly is still impressive though, and I’m sure it could be incorporated into other combat sports with success.
I guess is because you used a faint and the opponent lost balance trying to avoid that attack, so you kept your balance and attacked a second time before he could recover
In the video the athlete pushes off back foot but your example pushes off front foot. Would you say that your example is better for slightly longer range? Thanks
I t is like the jab in western boxing. but, I believed, in Karate the fist is in vertical punch unlike the jab which is usually in horizontal fist punch.
Is your "touch" punch (without connection to rear leg) intended to destroy a real opponent, or literally to touch him to score a point in a judged sports match?
I like your content, but I disagree with this technique. You are leaning forward with your chin up and your non-punching hand down. You are inviting a left hook counter to the jaw with that straight punch technique
This is wrong by fundamental of karate. The step is off-balance by stomping front foot to make noise yet falling forward and being open target. How do you defend yourself afterward?
Many explanations on "how" to hit with the Kizami Zuki. Not even ONE word about the real effectiveness of this Kizami Zuki. This is not Budo but a dance for young ladies who would not survive even 1 Minute in a real fight.

thank you for the video? my sensei today told me i’m not fast enough but i will try to fix it!
Great explanation about applying No-motion... Does no-motion only applies at punches? how about kicks?
It applies for kicks as well!
We will cover it in our future videos
@@KarateDojowaKu, we will anticipate it in the future! 😁
....but what is "no motion"? If he means you should not "advertise" your attack then it applies to kicks as well. 👍

Just relax, and not be afraid.

As a left-handed individual, Kizami Tzuki is one of my favourite punch techniques!!!
I agree!

It's not supposed to be a fight to the death, so yes. You're right but in a weirdly rude way.
I strike at you
This is sport lmao, why so rude, you just lost a kumite match?
Wdd boxing to this and you get mcgregor, wonderboy and horiguchi. Its one of the best striking combos
Those tips are very useful 👍
Thanks for watching the video!
Great tips thank you Sensai for sharing this video

Excellent timing
Arigato sensei the video was really helpful.
I'm glad!
Is it compulsory to jump like that after you punch?? Won't you get the point if you just withdraw your jab without switching your stance??
Hello Yusuke. Have you ever compared boxing punches vs karate punches? A jab fore example is close to kizami zuki but the delivery is different.
Great tutorial. Now can you do one that won't result in getting hit with a counter hook every time?
This is what I wanted
hola resien miro este video esta muy bueno
podrian hacer uno del mae tsuki de ante mano gracias
Very helpful! Thanks
The kizami tsuki is effective because it's much faster than the other punches...
Also it is closer to your opponent... 😇
Good info!
Thanks for watching the video!
effective cause it can be both counter and also to attack
thx for lesson young Sensei
Thank you sensei

Thanks for watching the video!
Why do you need to lift the back foot? Wouldn't you lose power because you don't have grounding to drive your legs through the punch?
Excelent 🙂
In the video the athlete pushes off back foot but your example pushes off front foot. Would you say that your example is better for slightly longer range? Thanks
Porque hizo contacto efectivo en el kizamy para marcar el punto
По ончании атаки надо разрывать дистанцию. Можно и в отве получить и после команды, да и судьи могут ваш удар не оценить и отдать противнику ..

I've never heard of it being vertical punch and I'm traditional shotokan
I’m confused on the movement are u pushing off off the front foot back or both to give yourself that forward thrust towards your opponent
The main engine is on the back leg!
Plz upload the video of syllabus yellow to Orange belt syllabus sensai
Is your "touch" punch (without connection to rear leg) intended to destroy a real opponent, or literally to touch him to score a point in a judged sports match?
Should I change my stance after the ZUKI??
I wonder why some styles calls the front hand punch "kizami zuki" while other calls it "tobikomi zuki"?
Mashallah 😊

Why kizami tsuki to body (chudan) is mosty not seen in kumite matches??Is it considered a point or not? Anybody help with this...😢
I really wanted to learn shotokan, but after watching this, the tournaments, and knowing that they don't kick to the legs... no.

Can the blue gloves sensei speak English? I think it's easier to learn by listening than reading the sub
He's not so fluent like myself
Who's here for cobra kai
I did this in a tournament...got a warning. Can anyone tell me why? (I played under 11-13 age category)
"Excessive contact" probably. You touched your opponent's face or maybe hurt them, that's my guess.
Senpai, is it possible to make someone fall to the ground during kumite and get points.
Yes of course!
He's not a senpai,he is a sensei cause he's a blackbelt🙂

Bad excecution as the punch scored but had no cover at all...
Always you cover your attack
What does Kizami Zuki mean?
Zuki means punch..Kizami zuki means punch from the leading hand..like jab in boxing
With those loud foot stomps, i guess we have to worry about our knee health in the long run ?
The floor is padded
Cause its quickly

@@KarateDojowaKu similar question - does the "fist goes first" method give up power over speed? The order looks a bit different from kata.
